Meditations on nature of mind, with Emily Hsu (Meditation 13 - AUDIO ONLY)
Tse Chen Ling Center is happy to share the thirteenth and last in a series of meditations exploring the nature of mind. We apologize that due to technical issues the day of this recording, our teacher did not appear onscreen.
These meditations were part of an FPMT Basic Program class led by Emily Hsu in 2021. "Mind and Cognition part 1, Awarenesses and Knowers," explored the nature of the mind from various points of view to help us understand the different types of cognition and those we need to further cultivate along the path.
Meditation 13 explores mental images and seeing difficult people as they really are.
Program Details:
FPMT Basic Program: Mind and Cognition part 1, Awarenesses and Knowers, with Emily Hsu
Presented by Tse Chen Ling Center for Tibetan Buddhist Studies, via Zoom, January - April, 2021.
The FPMT Basic Program is a twelve-subject course of studies designed by Lama Zopa Rinpoche. It provides a practice-oriented transmission of the Buddhadharma to committed students ready to progress to in-depth study and practice.
Presenter Bio:
Emily Hsu completed FPMT's 7-year Master’s Program at Istituto Lama Tsong Khapa in Italy in 2004, a condensed version of the geshe studies curriculum. As a graduate of the Master’s Program, she is authorized to teach courses which are normally taught by geshes. After completing this intensive study program Emily subsequently completed a ten-month solitary retreat in Spain to integrate the material. Emily tries to do at least a few months of retreat every year in order to deepen her practice, transforming intellectual knowledge into felt experience.
Emily Hsu has taught in the Bay Area since 2006 and served as the resident teacher at our sister center Ocean of Compassion Buddhist Center (OCBC) near San Jose, CA where she taught a variety of classes including FPMT’s Basic Program. Emily is also one of the few teachers selected by Lama Zopa Rinpoche as being qualified to lead retreats on shiné (calm abiding).

🙏🏼🌻Thank you Geshe Jinpa-la for your amazing mind capturing talk on Je Rinpoche!🌻🙏🏼
Thank you for this isnpiring teaching on the great Tsongkhapa. 🙏
Thank you, Geshe, you continue to inspire and encourage us 🙏🙏🙏
38:00 interesting - there are also jumps happenning within the evolution of consciousness due to changes within societal organization; firstly the rise of modern organized states with class strata hierarchies. For renaissance times, an increased capacity to trade goods and information and travel widely (correlated for example with the discovery of the americas around that time). There are other perspectives one can study in the context of the capacity for these ideas to spread and evolve consciousness. Of course this is potentially the argument of two sides of the same coin / e = mc^2 / like so much foam ….

Wonderful insights from Dr Willis, love the idea of private self-confession & collective reconciliation work to heal the ancestral energies; liberation from spiritual ignorance is the compassionate work of spiritual (R)evolution and courage, exhibited by HH & the brave Tibetan nuns. 🙏🙏🙏
Thankyou 💎💎💎🌈🌈🌈🙏🙏🙏🌌🌠💥💖🇦🇺
You're welcome!
I am glad this Guy is speaking from his point of view only because Buddhism is vast and being a scholar does not also do justice to understanding😅

Wonderful, thank you so much, Geshela.
Thankyou Geshela 💎💎💎🌈🌈🌈🙏🙏🙏🌌🌠💥❤️🔥🇦🇺
We can not disagree with scholarly works, the by product of history. Your, steady growth, seems somewhat obsessive, with the vision of the future world's happiness, naturally this attachment, has influences the passage of time. Emptiness, is in reality love. And, since leaving monasticism for family. Such, as this, is. It ironic that emptiness could be greater, than fullness of life? Because, if losing the ones, we love, what is left, is the emptiness , and just memories of loveseat.❤
*So Beautiful to have you Around" Sir' ❤🎉
Thank you, always come back to this video for inspiration in my practice 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
The Lord Maitreya is indeed enlightened. This means that His present priorities focus on our immediate needs, i.e. sufficient of the right food, freedom from war, right relationships, saving this planet, etc. He tells us that the Self is our most important aspect, but when He appears on the public platform He will not at first speak of mystical/esoteric things because there is a world to save, and we must do it practically with His guidance.
All men are liers😅
Is that what happened to you, you went nuts
Why would anyone inform the hotel receptionist about once’s believe or practices? 😂 string operation failed

❤️ Excellent live lecture Thank you for sharing this 🥹 Venerable Robina is my #1. MOST favorite Buddhist teacher’s 4/20/24
An amazing talk Robina, thank you 🙏
True Buddhist scholar ❤
I heard a telepathic voice in my head in 2018. It asked me to look up Maitreya. So I did, and found similarities between the prophecy of maitreya and myself. They are as follows: I moved to 7 countries after I was born. Civil unrest or war after I left. "Lotus blooms" 32 marks on My body (moles) Tall with high cheek bones Has one brother and one sister Entered trance state while in meditation in my early 20's. I had stigmata in my hands in 2006 Jaw like a lion (I have a unique jaw line) Webbed toes (two of my toes are webbed) The emergence of 40 sages (I have made contact with sasquatch, some are sages) I wrote 5 treatises (stories) I'm left handed and often sit with my left foot forward I have a curl to my hair (when its long) I don't know what to make of it, there are quite a few similarities, pretty wild.
Isn't it exciting when we don't yet know our true identity, but we can feel the infinite, eternal power working through us? I, like you, don't know what to make of it, but I enjoy imagining that I could possibly be on the verge of realizing that I am some kind of relevant unique divine force created with purposeful intent and divine timing by a loving creator always showing herself to me through the interactions I share with all the creatures I happen upon. I discovered that life can be magical or it can, just as "easily," be miserable. Realizing that the difference in outcomes can easily be created by appropriately shifting the mind with a necessarily grounded intent and the certainty in faith that your chosen outcome cannot be denied to you by anything if you are relentless and patience enough in your pursuits.

During Tsongkhapa's time, did lay people practice with the same intensity as monastics, or at least try to accomplish insights, tantra, and the path of the Lamrim? Great talk! Much appreciation Tse Chen Ling Community and Thupten Jinpa for sharing this wisdom.
