Переглядів 16Місяць тому
1. Because the covenant of works was broken by sin and was unable to confer life, God was pleased to proclaim the promise of Christ, the seed of the woman, as the means of calling the elect and producing in them faith and repentance.1 In this promise the gospel in its substance was revealed and made effectual for the conversion and salvation of sinners.2 1Genesis 3:15. 2Revelation 13:8. 2. 1689 Chapter 19 Part 1 - The Law of God
Переглядів 143 місяці тому
1. God gave Adam a law of comprehensive obedience written in his heart and a specific precept not to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.1 By these God obligated him and all his descendants to personal, total, exact, and perpetual obedience.2 God promised life if Adam fulfilled it and threatened death if he broke it, and he gave Adam the power and ability to keep it.3 1G...

1689 Chapter 16: Good Works
Переглядів 198 місяців тому
3. Their ability to do good works does not arise at all from themselves but entirely from the Spirit of Christ.10 To enable them to do good works, they need-in addition to the graces they have already received-an actual influence of the same Holy Spirit to work in them to will and to do his good pleasure.11 Yet this is no reason for them to grow negligent, as if they were not required to perfor...
1689 Chapter 15: Repentance unto life and Salvation
Переглядів 1610 місяців тому
1. Some of the elect are converted after their early years, having lived in the natural state for a time and served various evil desires and pleasures. God gives these repentance to life as part of their effectual calling.1 2. There is no one who does good and does not sin.2 Even the best may fall into great sins and offenses, through the power and deceitfulness of the corruption in them, along...
1689 Chapter 14: Saving Faith part 2
Переглядів 2010 місяців тому
3. This faith may exist in varying degrees so that it may be either weak or strong.11 Yet even in its weakest form, it is different in kind or nature (like all other saving graces) from the faith and common grace of temporary believers.12 Therefore, faith may often be attacked and weakened, but it gains the victory.13 It matures in many to the point that they attain full assurance through Chris...

My wife told me of a time she was picking up groceries and generic sprinkles were allowed to buy but special christmas colored sprinkles were not allowed. Not sure the logic there maybe red and green attract the covid virus🤷♂️
So glad this is back. Missed these videos
I was approved for belizean nationality, the call came in for the official ceremony, but they were adamant i had to be vaccinated. I said I was approved, they couldn't deny my right to the ceremony to accept the nationality. They said they wouldn't let anyone through the door that wasn't vaccinated, so I went at the appointed time expecting to be turned away. I did the mask thing and walked in, nobody asked for vax card. But the funny part was we had assigned seating, front row got their nationality, then once the row was empty, the whole third row had to move up to the first row, as social distancing was a thing, every other row was being used, but everyone kept moving up until everyone had their nationality. I was towards the back of the room as I have the privilege of the Z in my last name, as people realized how ridiculous the social distance thing was at that point, I heard a lady in front of me comment, "at least we know everyone is vaccinated".
The conversation beginning around 34:00 which intends to explain the so-called classical method is unfortunately where a lot of errors are asserted. Sorry to be blunt, but this has become almost a plague. You’re just repeating the Dorothy Sayers nonsense that she completely made up that the modern classical Christian movement picked up and ran with for some odd reason. The modern classical Christian movement is sadly just a modern k-12 education dressed up with some classical education terminology, but they’re in essence the same. The real classical education as it was historically taught for around 2,000 years didn’t consist of a grammar phase, a logic phase, a rhetoric phase. The real trivium and quadrivium were indeed a subject-oriented approach to learning. After completing the trivium and quadrivium, students then proceeded to the higher learning of natural philosophy, political philosophy, and Christian theology. And the texts for learning each subject were standard for most that span of time. If you’re not studying Aristotle’s Organon for Reasoning, Aristotle’s Rhetoric or Cicero’s rhetorical texts for Rhetoric, Nicomachus for Arithmetic, Boethius for music, Euclid for Geometry, Ptolemy for Astronomy - you’re not providing yourself with a classical education. The modern movement will just offer some little workbooks on each subject and pretend it’s offering a classical education. It’s quite sad too because it’s preying on all these parents who know in their gut that modern public chattel schooling is wrong and are looking for something else.
So true. “The way we educate children is ahistorical. we should do things classically. You know, the way they were doing it in the…. 1990s.”
Thanks for this video. I appreciate this helpful conversation:)
Thanks for this discussion. Imagine the look on my students' faces when I told them how exciting their geometry and algebra was, because we were applying axioms, not just doing tricks and hacks - that we were working with absolute truths and God is the source of all Truth!
