Tawny owls, like most others sit in a delicate balance and rely on good habitat and safe prey. A lot are rodent hunters and so are at risk of secondary poisoning from rodenticide and poisons as well as harm from roads, buildings and habitat loss. Want to help these...

Переглядів 1,4 тис.4 роки тому
A small section from our first aid courses covering sour crop in birds of prey. Delivered by Faye Bethell from Toll Barn Veterinary Centre Ltd, an advanced practitioner in zoological medicine.
Looks like Red Tail hawks to me. Beautiful birds and pretty bad ass also. Seen one take down a Great Horned owl on a golf course yrs ago
I’m so jealous🦉❤️
We have tawny Owls residing somewhere near our house. 4:00am without question I'm woken by those calls outside my window. Lovely sounds but not when you're trying to sleep.
Ra (sp?) really downs those mice, doesn't he? Reminds me of me at feeding time. Thanks for this; great stuff! I was not aware that they make pellets...
Ra is a 'she' btw Notice the noises that she makes? She's a female Tawny owl
Virtually everything you said is false. You will have to go back to being educated again.
please keep uploading and educating! 👍
I just stumbled upon this and I love it. Will turn my husband on to this. We love birds, Love from Canada 🇨🇦
I love tawny owls
I live in torquay on the riviera, as I type there is a regular couple of Tawnys outside, I love it😊
Your owl is so cute!
Tying birds to posts is animal cruelty and should be banned. How would you like it if you were timid, yet tied to a post for someone's sick entertainment?
What a stunning owl
You're so lucky to have such a friendship with an owl. 🦉
Great film, beautiful birds, I see loads of Buzzards and Red Kites around my area.
Thanks for that. There are many red tailed kites in the Northamptonshire area & often see them. However I will now look for buzzards aswell. Once again, thanks....
I live just outside Windsor, in Eton-Wick. There are many Red Kites around our village - the residents feed them so they are often seen just above rooftop height, patrolling the gardens. At my local Archery Club (at a Middle School) the Red Kites roost and nest in the large Oak trees in and around the playing field and they're are so de-sensitised by the children playing in the school field that we archers occasionally have to "shoo" them off the top of our straw targets when they use them as perches!
Kites have become too common RSPB should be ashamed
maybe you just live in an area where they're particularly common, but either way, "ashamed"?? what's so bad about these birds being common?? before they were regionally extinct, they used to be EXTREMELY common. you can actually see references to them in Shakespeare's writing. they were as common as crows and pigeons. it was persecution that got them all killed. they're still nowhere near as common as they used to be. even so, ashamed? really? ashamed of what? bringing back a bird from regional extinction? you have to be a troll, right?
We took kids out other night and we got through a gate and onto an opening and a of a sudden there was a loud screen and both kids asked is someone getting a lady haha they though a woman was screeming but it was a tawny calling 2 years me and my partner have been trying to get the kids to hear them as we hear them through the night on adult walks late at night!
Nice information. Lots of Buzzards and Red Kites here in the IoM countryside.
Enjoyed that…l which one is it that does the high piched single squawk? I have loads in the trees of my remote Hertfordshire property. They tend to sit on the thermals very high up so from what you have said I guess they are red kites?
Also how do I get my kestrel to stop bating
How much does your kestrel weigh in grams??
What about the other tawny owl call??
I thought only female tawny owls made that kind of call
Thank you so much 🌻
Thank you for the video. We live in Norfolk and for the last 4 years have been aware of red kites and buzzards in our village.
Are you preventing him from having a family of his own by picking his wife and having children? All for your display and entertainment for humans it just doesn't seem fair to him
Wonderful. Beautifully presented. Thank you.
I always throw food scraps in the garden to feed the crows etc so had a bit of a shock when a red tailed Kite came hurtling in and grabbed the carcass I'd left out. I wondered why all the other birds had stayed clear, they still just sit on the roof tops looking at their free meal, or whats left of it.
Oh me grandad was always moaning about his thermals in the winter 🥶
Whalen I was young my dad used to call me a little bustard , well something like that , could see the resemblance cheers shane uk 🇬🇧 l o l
Motorcycles...👀👀👀😲😲 Thank you for making me laugh .
Very informative but could hardly hear narrative. Sound needs to be increased

I am confused why at 6:23 the narration says: "This is Monsoon our resident Black Kite". It sure looks like a Red Kite to me and he goes on to talk about Red Kites. Then again I have never been to Europe but know the Black Kite well from Australia.
Hi Philip, Monsoon is a Black Kite, if side by side the differences are easier to see but they are both similarly marked.
Seen a buzzard waddling in the road up a farm lane, juvenile and then waddle across a field...... I think it was injured.... And it's been annoying me what's survival possibilities...... Was thinking of maybe taking a look to see if it was still in same area.
What happens when they are attached when they are tied to the ground?
That's a tiny little male red tail, is he a cross?
He's around 15 years old now, full RT & flies around 2lb 2-5oz
The budget Eagle.
Pls do a video on Brahminy kite! It's the only one found in our area!
I've always been into birds of pray, & used to have kestrels, sparrowhawk, & long ears owls!!! not got em anymore, but miss.em so,so much much, awesome, awesome creatures, want a red kite next, I know, I know,!! hard to get hold ov, but hey ,gotta dream ,gotta dream!!!@
