Hey, what's the hackle that you're using? Midge sized?
Thanks for sharing this Chris...very nice pattern and tying proportions ...could I please ask what materials and colours you used for the 3 dubbing sections (grey or olive?/orange/natural hares ear) ... many thanks
for sure, its first cream than fluo orange ice dub and head is naturel hare
Many thanks Chris…appreciate it
Many thanks Chris…appreciate it
Very nice!
Thanks!
Love the pattern! What was the dubbing mixture?
Its pure Hares für. Happy you Like it
I'd like to pass on a trick I learned from fly tyer Barry Ord Clark which is "ON SMALL HOOKS THERE IS A TRANSLUCENT SIDE TO THE TURKEY BIOT , IF YOU TRIM THAT OFF YOU CAN GET TWICE AS MANY WRAPS UP THE SHANK OF THE HOOK" . I've been using his method for years now . Thanx for the pattern.Tight lines.
Thats also right, thanks for the advise❤
super Muster 🙌
freut mich wenns gefällt
Very nice nymph
thanks a lot
Starkes Muster Chris
danke Stefan
What is the hackle material?
thats Ostrich herl
This video was a unbearable with the music . Great fly though
Slick
Moin aus Pennsylvania. What did you use for the ribbing on top of the body ? The dark stripes that are only on top ? Dank vorraus
The ribbing on the Body is also dynema tying Thread, called powerthread by Textreme. The DARK Material in the Back is Swiss straw
LIKE THE PATTERN ,HATE THE MUSIC!
Very nice very innovative tks
Happy you like it

Danke Chris
immer gerne, danke für den kommentar
You are fast and neat! Great tie. Just got off the vise myself tying a Bluejay! Good days to you.
thanks, same to you
Sorry dude, but it’s not a very good instrumental video for us new tiers
What would you like to see more or better?
As someone new to fly tying and fly fishing, I greatly appreciate you asking for my opinion on your video content. Since I’ve only tied five patterns so far, by no means am I even close to being an expert. In the last six months I have over 400 videos saved that I repeatedly watch over and over trying to improve my knowledge in this new found passion. As a Retired Marine, I’m very analytical and enjoy being detail oriented. I truly enjoyed your version of tying a Pheasant Tail Nymph, but it left me with several questions at it’s conclusion. For me, a materials listing would have tremendously helped answer most of the following questions. I’ll try to list them as they occurred during your video. 1) At the start you show you’re using a Hanak H530 BL Scud/pupae type hook as opposed to most other video and patterns that call for a 2XL straight shank nymph hook. Why do you prefer this style of hook? 2) You show that you’re using a 50 denier White Power thread. However, the thread you use after applying the lead wrap appears to be black or another darker color. 3) I counted 7 wraps of lead but didn’t see of it was .015,.020,.025 or .030 4) I couldn’t determine how many Pheasant Tail fibers you used or how long/short you wanted the tail to be 5) For the thorax, is that peacock herl, ostrich herl or another type of feather & what color is it? 6) Having watched several PT videos, I presume that you used a partridge feather with the tip cut out for the legs. But as a new tier, it took me several videos before I learned how to pull the fluff or prepare any of the feathers or materials much the less how to tie them in or why? I am truly grateful for having seen your video, especially since it has differences from most other’s & if I knew why you prefer this method it might suite my needs or preferences more so than the others. I am always happy to enhance my knowledge and skills from someone else’s individual creativity, characteristics and/or experiences. Mega Thx !!! John
@@hirkojs thanks for your comment. Yes you are very detailed in your Observation. I will try to answer your questions. But first let me say one Point, try to Stop your search for super detailed information just try to learn the technics from the Videos all other is Person preferences and will be different in every single tyer. Number of lead Turns, depends in how heavy your fly should be, and it fits to the Hooksize, also diameter depends in the Hooksize Here it was 0.20 on #14 Shape of Hook, I prefer curved hooks in PT, Looks vor me more Natural. Number of PT fibers depends also on Hooksize, #18 only three #14 5-7 Legs, best way to Cut Out a Segment of a feather Looks Like a V . Than you can place the in the Hook, tie it in and pull in the V until your legs are at your prefered lengths Thorax is ostrich herl Tying Thread is the whole time, Textreme powerthread black in 50den
Thanks, I’m still trying to decipher what is a cock or hen Feather & which one I should use which is why I prefer videos that have a recipe and talking points so I know whether I’m supposed to have a light, medium or strong thread wrap as they effect each material differently & I still tend to break my thread several times so I’m still trying to learn thread tension. And I know that different lead weights can change where it flows in the water column. But again Mega thx for all your pointers, I’ll definitely try to apply them
@@hirkojs Gidday John. WOW your questions are detailed. Like you I am learning to tie flies and having difficulties with some materials and techniques. Chris however seems to be a patient and competent instructor. Good luck with your new passion.
