Aira Force Waterfall Trail - Lake District
This was awesome mate. I did the Monsal trail a couple of weeks ago but didn’t via off anywhere. Just stuck to the trail. I’ll definitely be doing this one now. It looks beautiful. I’m working my way around the whole Peak District little by little. This is going ti be my next one. Cheers for doing this, I wouldn’t of known about it otherwise so videos like this are really appreciated mate. Thank you 😊
Thanks for the comments glsd you enjoyed it and happy trails
15:48 😂
How to put it up 😮
Easy slide two.poles in like witha tent. Align it to van peg it down and throw the straps over the top job done was fiddlly the first time sussing it out. We can get it up in 10 mins now easy and takes less thsn 5 mins to detach if tou wsnt to drive away
Had thought about doing this route. Thank you for sharing this video; I think I will give it a miss!!
Its a great route
Much appreciated that failed attempts are also shown here so that everyone can learn from them. Too bad you both got sick. As a Dutchman and not used to long walks in hills and mountains I will have to train well though I have done many long walks in Ireland but not with heavy packs. I am preparing for a trip like the WHW, hopefully next year March/April or September/October or the year after. I hope you will make a second attempt and have more luck.
Thanks for comment , yeh pure bad luck it was fail win some lose some fingers crossed we can re attempt it next year
Great achievement guys. Well done to you both...no easy task 👏
Thank you! 😃
Would this fit over the back of a hatchback berlingo?
Dont know buddy best check the measurments of both the van and awning
Sounds nasty, any Idea what made you both so sick? Doing it next year so don't wanna suffer as you did....
Well it wasn't our pack weight It wasn't the distances walked daily It wasn't due to under estimating It It was a case of norovirus we think from some bad water all our meals were prepacked ration packs
@@lifetheuniverseandeverything Initially I thought of ecoli which is generally from animal waste, which as you say could've been in the water.
Possibly but we only drank rank from offical taps and campsites on route
How is this in the water? Does it do the job? Thanks
Hi yeh it's good floats good buoyancy and takes up less space when deflated
Can't wait to do this scramble. When it's a tad dryer 😂
Enjoy its a good one
its a great trail to do i did it start of may with 17kg and wrong footwear so that didnt make it enjoyable but other than them it was awesome even have my take on it :)
Good video and lots to take away for anyone thinking about doing the WHW
Are those only the toilet and bathroom ? Or do they hv more on site ?
What I showed on the video is what's there. It was a while ago we stayed there if I remember rightly there was 3 or 4 showers and toilets within the barn area. It's a nice place huge site and barn is awesome
Sorry it did not work out for you. But I have to say, without preparing myself 3 months in advance with training in the Gym, long walks with a half packed back pack and test-hikes (3-4 Days to test equipment) it would have been much harder for me or I probably even wouldn't have finished it.... It was my frist Long distance hike, so I wanted to prepare myself as good as I could. Greetings from Poland.
You both either ate badly prepared food or your water wasnt clean. In either case I recommend you carry 2-3% tincture of iodine with you and put 4 - 6 drops per liter of water and drink it throughout the day, it will help kill any bugs in your gut. We use iodine on expeditions in the US or Nepal and nobody was ill at all.
Big tip for next time...the more weight you carry, the more you'll enjoy your camping, the less weight, the more you'll enjoy your walking. The WHW is a 97 mile walk.
위생상 너무 않좋네😢
Howdy. How do you like the awning? We find the tunnel part very baggy to the van.
Hi We love it we hook/tie the tunnel part a d peg it down have no issues at all
Ah good effort guys! I just completed it last week in the hot weather. Felt so bad for you guys but hopefully you plan to do it again!
Thanks buddy there's always a next time. Well done on completing it
Was this the treetop challenge?
Yes It was
Sick and it works
Haha indeed it does 🤣
Bit surprised by the comments here. I once got food poisoning on day 3 during a 4-day hike in Kyrgyzstan. The runs, not holding down any food & barely any water, thus not sleeping at all. Luckily others in my group carried my stuff and I somehow managed to crawl over the final mountain pass, whilst occasionally throwing up next to the path. It's no joke, and if you are near civilisation you just have to be smart and abort (I couldn't do that back then as we were far from potential help). Recover and try again some other time :-) (be sure to use a water filter, even in the Scottish Highlands - I like the Katadyne BeFree)
Sad little trolls will be sad little trolls who cares we had fun regardless and that's all that matters. Getting sick is no joke out in the wild.
Absolutely amazing nice sound. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Guys I recommended you visit the himalayan mountains k2 and Nangaparbat view point from one place moses peak. Add this sound in your bucket list.
That would be awesome
That must be Covid that you got! Thats what all covidian people been saying for anything for past few years even if you die from cancer or break your leg lol But yeah thats why I learned the hard way to get better waterproofs and I filter everything with sawyer squezze(have immodium just in case + other tablets also) no problems so far. I finished WHW + GGW and the weather by the Loch Ness was way worse for me haha, will camped every night and managed to dry my gear somehow or on my breaks while walking.
There is a reason so many camp at beinglas. The banks of Loch Lomond are tough and quite a few people get tummy problems along there for some reason. Your mileage did seem quite ambitious and you were carrying a lot of water. Up until Ben Lomond there are refill points and after that rhere is abundant water as long as you filter it. You can carry a litre and filter where needed. No shame in pulling out. First time I attempted it was 1980 at the age of 14. We made the mistake of doing Milngavie to past Cashel and got caught in the dark in a storm. We had gone too far on day 1, got soaked and tetired to a b&b. Always best to decide to uit rather than soldier on. Next time you can get the train to Crianparich to finish the way. ATB. Ewen
We did consider beinglas as an option had it not rained and been waterlogged we would of had plenty of camp options crainlarich was fine tbh. The mileage wasn't really a problem at all. We had 3 easy days after to finish had we not got norovirus
@@lifetheuniverseandeverything You are the second You tuber I know of to get Norovirus on the Loch Lomond stretch. Next time I do it, I will avoid eating or that tap at Rowardennan as it seems to be round about there. The sheer numbers on the WHW means more chance of Norovirus. The PCT had problems as well, I heard. I always have hand sanitiser in my hipbelt pocket especially after a highly embarassing dose on the GR34 in Brittany. I also filter burn water and don't let the bottle touch taps. A wee bit paranoid but being on a trail with a dodgy tummy is no joke. Immodium has a place in my first aid kit. I prefer walking to running😁
Not sure if you were very pushed for time but the distance per day was rather ambitious esp with those very heavy looking bags (at least the orange one). And carrying 4l of water is no joke. Maybe needed more thorough homework on what to expect before going, so next time! 🤞👍
Thr orange bag was lightest bag looks bulky but it was just the sleeping mats that made it look twice the size. Distance hiked wasn't a problem at all. Norovirus is what stopped us like it says in the video.
I agree, I watched your pack video, perhaps film your items make it more interesting look at how some of the more established tubers do it it item by item, you carry far too much unnecessary weight, your aim should have been under 10kg for WHW including water and food. The non finishers always carry 18-20kg in a 70l -100l pack too many clothes too much gas, massive night lights etc etc loads of clutter i saw you’re med kit and power banks just insane did you really carry a glass jar of foot cream, your midge spray was too much and totally useless next time gat a small sprayer of Smidge weighs 50g and will last 3 weeks, look at some more videos it’s not difficult to get the pack down but a 45l pack and just lay out your gear, weigh everything and justify every single item and ask yourself do it really need this and if so can i make lightweight or is there a lighter alternative. Best if luck try Great glen way next time much easier for beginners. I enjoyed your spirit
Had we not got norovius we would have continued and finished weight and distance covered wasn't a concern tbh
I’m sorry you didn’t make it to the end. Don’t be too hard on yourselves though - you can’t help getting sick. I was impressed by the distance covered on day 2. Well done.
Thanks , we still had fun not our first rodeo lol we will be back !
I get the feeling that you had too much weight (which was pointless as you only camped once) and tried to cover too much distance each day. A classic case of ego over ability.
Did you even watch the video? We would of camped 6 times had we not got sick with norovirus and made it to the end.
It seems like you completely underestimated this walk.
Not at all seems like you completely didn't watch and listen to the video properly or follow the channel to know who we are and what we do.
If your finishing short of your target destination for the day that's obviously an underestimation of the route ...
I've never understood the fascination with water. I did the whole WHW without ever taking a bottle of water. There are stop off points along the way and you really don't need any water on a 5 hour hike.
😅😅 probably the dumbest statement I've ever read
They should replace the Tom weir statue with a statue of Scott Campbell the man who did the West highland way in 5 hours without a water bottle
Rehydrate rehydrate rehydrate
I was on the path to rowardenan when I started to feel the sickness and I knew my WHW was over and in my walk of shame back to Balmaha I passed a couple who i had witnessed take a whole kitchen and tumble dryer over conic hill this is they're journey
Hi there, when did you the WHW and get sick ?
I started on the 4th of May the next morning I felt good I think I drank some dodgy water in the forest before conic hill because I stoped near the top for a smoke break and that's when I started to feel a bit ruff
We started on the 3th as well and only drank from taps .it's was the night of day 3 going into day 4 we were sick as dogs
14:00 We were at this bridge about 55 years ago and you needed to pay a penny to cross. It was the one day in the year where they had to charge to keep their private access rights. My brother declined much to the surprise of the old man taking the money.
Great little story
I've been planning to go to Go Ape to, to overcome my fear of heights! What activity did you two do in the video, but any way, great video!
Hi go ape is good fun and great way to face your fears the video is the go ape course.
Great job!
Great review mate thanks. I’m thinking about an over nighter here in a couple of weeks. 👍
You should!
What size is this. Looks nice, can you also in it. Thanks
Hi , it's 3m x 3m and yes you can sleep in it
Selling mine
Mate what did u film this on? I’m wondering if my GoPro will cope in the darkness?
Just a camera phone
Surely one of the best walks in the Peak District. 😄
I think you might be right it's definitely up there

Ah, nice one Stevie - thanks for the tour. I don't think I've seen such a perfect camp site that's complete with all the facilities and yeah goodies. And far out complete with a Swallows nest also. I just did a tour of a camp site at the base of Pen Y Fan - dead basic - no facilities but you can just rock up and pay the farmer when he comes around. Vid on my site if interested. Well, I trust the event went well. All the best. Mark
Hi Mark.glad you enjoyed the video il check yours out asap buddy. And yes event went very well unfortunately didn't video it was too busy trying to make cut off times at that one.
@@lifetheuniverseandeverything Watch end to end Stevie. I'll be checking that site out. Good to hear the event went well. I did look for the vlog - that explains it. Peace.

Yep in lake district flying through the mountain range valleys would have flown by cat bells
This looks brilliant bud, such a beautiful trail! Views are simply stunning!
