I've gotten to the point where if I can't do the entire project myself, I wont even bother doing it. I had a guy doing ms paint commisions. Like 50$, draws me a cool album cover. I get permission to use and redraw it so I take it to a professional artist to redo the exact picture but do it in their own art style. The artist misses the due date 3 times, doesn't check any references, doesn't follow the example given, redoes the entire scene and writes the wrong fucking artist name on it. I would have had more eyes on the project if I just left it with the MS Paint file for 50$

as a (not even good) editor, it baffles me that someone who claims to be a "professional" makes mistakes that i wouldn't think are possible

Sounds like you need a new semi competent editor! I speak English (and can spell), edit videos for fun, know how to convert files AND I have insomnia so I'm always editing
