Hubby and I ( im the driver ) used to traverse Clyde Mountain in an old 1974 Kombi Camper. It was a water cooled beauty, named Bertie Beetle. I'd drive it up that mountain road at 40 ks an hour in 2nd gear. I'd keep an eye on the traffic behind me and when it amounted to 5 vehicles, I'd pull over and let them past. Often was the times that we'd pass big super dooper 4,s towing caravans, pulled over.. bonnets raised, radiators blowing steam. Old Bertie would just plug on by, 2nd gear, 40 ks an hour.. we were still going forward.. albeit slowly ...lol.

Been on this road so many times, Clyde Mountain as well, and Brown Mountain. Macquarie Pass is the best or worst of the three, depending on your point of view. Hellyer Gorge in Tasmania is also one hell of a driving experience.

That's the problem with flashing lights like indicators. They have a hypnotic effect on other drivers and cause temporary brain damage. Let's get back to the hand out the driver's window signals. Much safer.😆 BTW, I passed my driving test in 1961. I think that I had to know hand signals then. Is it still required? What would happen if I used them whilst driving my modern car?
