I’m so happy to hear from you again! I was wondering where you’ve been and how you were doing. I want to share that I had to take a gap year too for unexpected health issues that limited my ability to properly progress through my second year. It was definitely something I didn’t want when I had to take it but now that a few months have passed, I’ve realised that there are things that I do care about other than my academic life. I just wanted to share this from someone who is currently in a somewhat similar position. I hope this period of resting has helped you a bit. It might take longer than expected, but taking your time to really work on your wellbeing and safety is important to being able to get back to completing your studies. Starting out with the basics and working your way up can feel daunting at first, but it can be rewarding too, especially when you’re making some progress. I don’t know if this will help you feel a little less pressure to keep working all the time, but I want you to know that I’m proud of you for still being here, even through all of your struggles. I’m proud of you for being candid about your mental health as voicing your struggles can be hard. We care about you and your health, and that’s why we’re here. We want you to feel supported. Sending all my love to you ❤

Being as though you are that unwell that you have been detained under the mental health act, would it not be better to postpone completing your degree until you are well? I appreciate that you want to finish it, but you are young and there is plenty of time to complete it in the future when you are well enough and will enjoy it more. Best wishes x.

Hey I just wanted to say this is such a good UCAS personal statement. I was so stuck on how to write my personal statement and I came across your video and found we have very similar interests and I also have done more extra curricular as opposed to heavy academic research so this has been really helpful for me to see how to structure a personal statement.
