and that reminds me - have you guy's watched 'The Witches'? A british horror which I love, partly because it was made the year I was born.

What the hell just hit me! My brain is still trying to compartmentalise this but, of course, it can't. It's such a 'could be' film. Not quite an acceptable thriller, not quite a docu-drama, not quite a cheesy romp or a horror. But it disurbed the shit out of me never the less. I guess the bad acting is hypnotic, though the lead does seem to learn to act as she films this thing. And the guy - well, I'm a Nerd so you won't get this but he's the spitting immage of Neebs from Neebs Gaming. I also couldn't get my head round that it was a true story! Woa! A brain injury might have given him the slightest excuse but a mother of 2 who's a nurse? Ooofff. But some surprisingly intense scenes and some of the shots were very well composed. And a chance for some realy good female character actors to just go for it. And the only guy in it was only there for drool appeal. That's odd for films of this period. But I did finally see it!!! An old flame of mine lived in Rhode Island and he saw all these films and loved them. (Wow, the US had Dr Who and the Daleks in cinemas!!)

I watch this classic every Mother’s Day.

And another film I've only heard mentioned in passing, with great reverence and here we are!!!! I'd never have thought to look for this on line. I feel like I should be wearing a polyester shirt to watch it. And yes, get closer to that mic!

Well, very pleased you pointed these two out. Pyx? As always, Karen Black plays a character with sympathy, conviction and tragedy just right. And the sense of inexorable fate here is not only graphically depicted, you can feel it from her performance. Is she aware of her fate? And is it a price to be paid for her sins? It's a complex film in that regard - a somewhat cold woman selling herself, but one who has also attempted to save another younger woman from her fate. It also drives hoe the cold reality of what it must be like to actually be SOLD. But in a sunny and often idyllic environment which could even be seen as an analogy for here drug induced sense of false reality. And Body Parts....another oddly hypnotic film. It reminded me a little of American Horror - but had the tone of those 70's novels about the budding queer scene in America. I loved the candid scenes which took you into the seedy side of the city. Always find that fascinating. And, ultimately, another film about the spirit being trapped in the body and yearning for release. Some great character performances and I LOVED that 'priest'! Here though, the main character is the opposite - I found her unsympathetic almost to the extreme. You can't beat a creepy old hotel, too. Why did the line 'Alice dosn't live here anymore' ring a bell.

BTW - Karen Black is the only impersonation I can do. 'There's nobody left to fly the plane!!!!' It can only be done very drunk. I loved her in Come back to the 5 n'dime Jimmy Dean. (From what I gathered, the mirrors in that were brought over from the stage play where the set was doubled up and a second younger cast did the flashbacks which I guess made a little more sense.)

I found Pyx on you tube, Yay! {I didn't realise spell correct had me looking for Styx which took some time to work out.) A Karen Black film I haven't seen!!!! A drink will be arranged for later. The other film didn't show up sadly - not on UA-cam anyway. But hey, I will skip to part three.
