Yeah, AS has been killing it in terms of quality lately. I do find it a bit sad that some of their balis surpass the originals bc it brings more people to buy the clone rather than the authentic, which kind of hurts some solo bali makers. For Squid tho, I don't think it'll hurt the sales that much. I also remove the weights at the end, and yes, it's definitely a steal for that price!

Yoo that's awesome mann! I think it depends on which country it is shipping to bc some laws might ask for it to be disassembled. Mine also had very oversized bushings so I had to sand them down a lot, but it still doesn't have the best tolerances compared to my kraken clone. I just got unlucky I guess lol.

TLDR: I'm on a budget, so I bought the clone, even though I wanted to buy the real thing. Buddy, if I could, I would definitely buy Squid's Madko, but at the budget that I'm at right now, it isn't really a good idea to be spending $500+ on a balisong. Maybe if I save up money over time, maybe I could get it. I do get your point, though. Buying the authentic balisong instead of a clone is a way better idea because it supports the original maker and the community in the long term. 👊😎

I'm not really sure about that, but i think it was disassembled because of Canada regulations or something like that. It was really difficult to put the washers in bc the bushings were oversized so I'll have to sand them down lol

​@@aceOfspudesThebuffnes has a tutorial on doing maintenance and tuning is short and easy to understand. Assembling the balisong is easy af, where it complicates is if you have to tune the bushings because they are oversized.

might make an official review of this when I develop some opinions on it lol, might be a month or so

Aw that sucks man, it also depends on how much you drop it on hard surfaces. Sometimes when it taps a little more than usual, I deep clean it by disassembling it and cleaning every part with brake cleaner, then water it down and letting it dry. After that, I assemble it back up again and oil it (make sure the "burr" side or the rounded side of the washer faces the blade and the sharp side faces the handle. It isn't really critical if you're using bushings, but it is for washer balisongs.) To make the oil go into the pivots better, I put a couple drops on the pivots, then slightly un-tight it, then wiggle the handles, then tight it back up and clean the residue after.

@@cubygamez3036 oh thanks for giving the advice of cleaning it i will probably do it later in the future. I actually thought that once it develops tap it is incurable or something. Either way i did drop it quite a bit recently and now i am flipping on a mat so that i dont drop it as often and i even tightened the screw and got almost the correct tune.

From what I know, the moves are: aerial to reverse ring finger chaplin, whatever I do after that (no seriously idk what it is), reverse thumb chaplin to zero g middle finger chaplin, i think its like half a shortstop... anyways I could surely make a tutorial showing how you can do this!

unfortunately, they discontinued the mako v4.5 for the new (and better) v5. From what I've heard, the Antarctic 2 is slightly better in every way than the previous version, like improved durability, better zen pin system, better tang profile, better sound etc... For more insight on the Mako v5, you can watch Will Hirsch's video about Squid Industries at Blade Show 2024 (timestamp at 4:46). Honestly, if you're going for quality and durability, I'd go for the Antarctic. Sorry for the late response, but according to other people, it's basically identical to the real thing (flipping wise and handle feel). If you want the best experience, I would go with the real kraken, but if you're on a tighter budget, probably get the Armed Shark one. Whichever one you choose, they're both good!

which oil did you use? In this video I used "Muck-Off bike chain lube" but right now I use Carbon Honey Thick

@@xmdani4165 OOHHhoho yeah, it does. Once you put Carbon Honey Thick oil in there, it flips and sounds amazing. I like it as much as my 146$ Glidr Antarctic, and it's 62$!! (USD money btw)
