A little Mozart to brighten your day!

Simple duets #1: A famous Allegro by W. A. Mozart I'm working on accuracy in my playing right now. Recording myself in duets and uploading the product is keeping me honest. It's also a chance to keep practicing audio and video editing skills. Unfortunately a lot more audio editing went into this then I hoped for.

GO QUAKERS REPRESENTING MY ALMA MATER
0:11
My four siblings and I graduated Eastern starting in 1961 and ending in 1969. We sang this song, the Alma Mater, at assemblies and rallies. It was circa 2003 that my brother, Jim McManamey, was establishing a website for the graduating class of 1961. The last thing he expected was to be contacted by a student from the graduating class of 2004. The young man, I'm sorry I don't have his name, contacted Jim inquiring about the school song or alma mater. It seems that over the years the song fell out of favor and there was no one at the school who knew the tune or the words. He asked Jim if he had the sheet music. Unfortunately, Jim was neither a singer nor a musician and so the answer was, no. That might have been it but Jim contacted me and asked what I knew. I had been in the madrigal choir for all three of the years I attend Eastern, which was all Eastern offered in the 1960s. I told Jim I knew the song and would make an a cappella recording on CD and send to him (I live in Kansas and he was in Virginia at the time. When he got it, he played it on his computer at work. One of his co-workers heard it and said, that was his school's alma mater. The co-worker proceeded to tell him who wrote the music. A little research and he discovered that it was originally written for Duke University. He also found the sheet music was available. He made a purchase and sent it off to the student. A 75th anniversary celebration was planned and the band learned the song, then taught it to the student body.. The song was sung at the celebration and afterwords, the senior attendees proclaimed that they had gotten it exactly right. Ever heard of six degrees of separation? In this case it went from student, to Jim, to me, back to Jim, to his co-worker, and back to student. Technically, it involved only 4 people to bring the song back to the school. While our parts were small, we were so proud to have a part in restoring this song to Eastern. Thank you for putting this on the internet.
Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment. I love to hear that performances like this can be shared with the Quaker community across generations! The student that reached out was Joshua Garcia. I was the new director at Eastern at the time and started asking around regarding the alma mater. Josh took the initiative to seek it out and shortly after gave me the a capella recording of the melody (thank you for that!). unfortunately, the sheet music that you mentioned never did make it to me. The arrangement that I created for that 75th anniversary and that we continued to use was based on my transcription of your solo singing and the harmony that I extrapolated from it. I remember how proud I was to hear from the alumni that it was as they remembered it and that I was able to put the song back in use. We created this recording during the Covid shutdown and my plan was to add more graduating students to it each year. Unfortunately I am no longer teaching at Eastern, but I hope that the arrangement will continue to be used.

Thanks for watching and for your support :)
well done
Cool!! I love the diversity. Please, make sure the musicians know I think they have tremendous potential for the future.
That was a great job done by the current and former students and the director, of course Mauricio Der Rosso. Brought a tear to the eve of an old band and Orchestra cornet player, 57-60. under Walter Jenvey. Those cassions are still rolling along.
Great job! Thank you for this Mr. De Rosso, I appreciate you finding an awesome work around for the students.
Our pleasure!
Wow, that was great! Good job! I hope you'll all be able to get together soon.
We will!
Students you were all amazing. Thank you so much!!
Thank you very much for sharing this. What a great way to start the day listening to these talented young people!

Very nice. What year/instrument?
8th or 9th, I played baritone euphonium.
Nice job! Go Quakers!
Nice to see that you’re still at it!
DanHillTraining thanks. Come lift at Usapl again :)
nice lifts.
H20 markiplier thanks :)
2 Years of meets, how many total years of lifting?
You sure can deadlift! Well done!
+Christian Durbin (Durus Telamon) Thanks. Almost makes up for my horrible benching!
nice
Good lifting! Regarding squat depth, I found that if you are going deeper than you need to, don't fight it, use it. When I squat, I drop down into the hole as quick as I can while under control and then use the momentum to bounce out. The rebound can really help you generate some good speed coming up. As far as bench press, I feel your pain.
Thanks for the compliment on the lifting. I started my new training already and the weighted dips/triceps exercises hit my arms hard! I'm excited to see if it transfers over to the pressing. Great job at the meet.
I think you'll be able to give hit that 405 easy in your comp man! Just don't burn yourself out prior. I've found working around and up to my 1st and maybe second attempt to be the best this close to a meet and that 500 was best mode! Great pull! Rest up and good luck in 3 weeks!
Great work man! You crushed that 479!
Thanks. I'll get to your 500 soon. You will probably be up to 535 by then.
I just like to see people do well! and you did great man. We both had our benching woes but came back wit the Deadlift. Still a huge lift! Keep it up.
Don't be afraid to like my videos, lol. I don't think any of my videos have llikes yet... :(
Yay. At least you used a spotter on the second rep :P
I was at this meet and you did a great job! Your lifts came up easy and your form was great on the 3rd attempts. Congrats on doing a great job!
Thanks, you did great too. Thanks for the comment and for posting your own video. I'm excited about the next meet. Too bad May 10th doesn't include squats; I tried switching to low bar squats this week and it felt great. That weight is just going to fly up :)
I'm actually looking into that Ironman and I'm giving my body some breaks from squats (not all the way of course haha, just in terms of volume and intensity). I really, really want to get my Deadlift to 500 by that comp!
