I was chatting with a new friend this week asking about all of the content I have. I told him that I am blessed to curate life-impacting moments. The JJDW Rewind featuring Toya Coleman ("Elevate Your Circle") is one of many moments where I knew the listener would be different and wonderful. We open this week with an inspiring performance of "To Be Young, Gifted and Black" by #ninasimone, whose ...

    Such great stories both Alexus and Fatima. Thanks for sharing. I also had a older cousin, Linda, that I was so curious about when I was growing up. She was the cool cousin and she was so different. To this day, I think of the music, curse words, and fashion styles that she introduced me to. Impactful and imprinted memory. And my cousin, Linda actually passed away yesterday. These stories helped me to reflected upon my own stories of Linda.

    I understand. My life began after my divorce last year. A new awakening.I can't reiterate enough. It really takes time to heal and let God give new instruction. God bless

    Man.. Where is your anger?/you speak in such a matter where you literally sound like you were in denial. Divorce is brutally painful... Maybe that's just your personality. Maybe you choose not to do the blame game but something still smells bad... Your transparency just comes off without the residue divorce leaves. I mean this respectfully. It could just be the stage you are in.

      Jahmal R. Standley Hey Jahmal. This commentary to the divorce hearing was shot several years later. I was angry throughout the marriage, but once the decision was made that it wasn't going to work, I switched gears. The purpose of this video was to show how time works in the healing process. I prayed throughout the whole experience. In addition to prayer and counseling and journaling and meditating, there is also just time.

    What was the breaking point? Every divorce has one. Well at least you got closure. Not all couples have that. Bitterness tastes so bad,anger drives you to close your heart and fear makes you shut out loving again. Throw in being 42 and you will look at love and family in a way you would have not if you were younger... Singing " I WILL SURVIVE " LOL.GOD BLESS

      @alexusrhone 9 років тому

      Jahmal R. Standley I hear you, bruh. It's hard to love after you've tried and failed at it. I wouldn't call it a "breaking point" as much as an erosion and then an awareness. For the record, many MANY women (and men) stay in really bad situations. I'm just not one of them.
