Kevin & Jim Kehoe, tillage to dairy 520 cows
Переглядів 5 тис.21 годину тому
I caught up with Kevin and Jim who are milking 520 cows on 210 hectares in South Wexford, a couple of driven, hardworking guys who like a laugh. On camera Kevin does most of the talking but they are very much working together to get the farm performing to potential whilst analysing opportunity to cut back on chemical N use, improve soil health and look at using more variety in reseeds.
Will Griffin on mixed species

One of the earlier adopters of using different plant species in a "conventional" system, Will tells us why he's using mixed species and what he has learnt on his farm. Thanks Will

Short intro

Hello, Andre from Graise Farm Consultancy, this is a short intro to my video series where I'll be visiting clients, experts and farms throughout Ireland, Wales, Scotland, England, New Zealand and hopefully on many other places in the future. Follow me and let me know what you would love to see
Carbon footprint is an individual blame game, a load of bollocks can’t understand why you still swallow it. I’ll let you into a secret it’s all tied onto agenda 20/30 which I’m sure you’ve heard about. You know the secret meetings your government has in Davos every year with the WEF which the media keep very quiet about? Well they’re planning on getting rid of farms using the climate farce, wake up and smell the roses FFS.
Great video Guys
Well done lads
Great video. Interesting set up.
No need to cringe at other grasses. If you pick the right varieties, you’ll take the mixed species leys to another level. I have cocksfoot and tall fescue in my mixtures, out growing PRG and cows still doing 1.4kg MS late lactation. The grasses and legumes are the bread and butter, the herbs are useful but peripheral. Yarrow is a useful addition as it will be invisible some years then produce well in a dry year.
@@cuddersop thanks, it'd be interesting to see "cardboard grasses" working, I have only had and seen negative experiences
In the dry east of England, birdsfoot trefoil is one of my most persistent components because drought checks its competition. I was surprised to see it growing well on the Mullet when I visited Ireland. Growing on the dunes and verges however.
Hey Graise, do you advise to use the aerator in this kind of environment? To help infiltrate more water
@xMarf yes in some situations, usually dig a few holes and decide what's the best solution, sometimes proper drainage, sometimes deep aerator, sometimes a spike roller
Peter is one sound man
Good job Andre, looking forward to more videos 👍
