I also included green onions and white sweet onions. I've never tried winter sowing before. Stay tuned, subscribe, and click that bell to find out how things turn out. Hope everyone is doing well. Winter Sowing 2025 part 1

I only have 2 seasons of growing experience. I have only direct sowed. This is my very first attempt at this method of winter sowing. I was unsuccessful my very first season of growing with a seed starting tray. This season will be different. And I'm thinking winter sowing will be my reason for success. This is the first of multiple videos I intend to share about winter sowing. Check it out. Le...
Seed Starting Mix
Переглядів 2014 днів тому
In today's episode, I am attempting to make my own seed starting mix. I'm using coconut coir, vermiculite, and perlite. The idea is to save money by making your own. I boiled water to sterilize the mix, as well as hydrate the coconut coir. Apparently warm water is better than cold water when doing so. There are also, not very many nutrients. I've seen in other videos that the seeds themselves h...
Plans for the Upcoming Growing Season

What's up everyone? This is basically a list of all the seeds I have. I'm sorry it's late. I just wanted to get something done. Used some Temu stuff. Recorded, edited, and uploaded in about 2 hours. Nothing really fancy. No background music. Just rambling. Leave a comment. Let me know what you think. Peace!
Temu Haul! Items I bought for gardening and YouTubing .

I spent about $65 on items from Temu. I thought it would be nice to get some additional equipment for recording UA-cam videos. I got a selfie stick that can be used as a tripod. I got a head strap that my phone can attach to, for a GoPro/POV effect. Things for the garden that I bought include: 3 pack of potato grow bags, A frame trellis, soil tester, seed packet organizer, and two different typ...
The Quest for Lavender episode 1 @JohnnyLearnsGardening
Переглядів 13Місяць тому
I'm on a mission to successfully grow lavender. 2 years ago, I ordered a pack from Amazon, and have been unsuccessful to date. I've tried direct sowing. I've tried to cold stratify a few seeds. Nothing. I've ordered a few new packs from Seed Needs. So I'm hoping that my future attempts will produce something. So if you're interested in seeing if, when, and how I eventually get some lavender gro...

In this video I talk about some of the things that I've seen from certain people giving advice about how to grow your UA-cam channel. I won't mention any names. I find most of them very informative. And who am I to say otherwise? Can someone please leave a comment about what they think? Does the UA-cam A.I. really not spread your videos around if you share them on other platforms such as Facebo...

The moment you've all been waiting for. The thing that I've been talking about for ages. The video that I've previously recorded but didn't like so I finally remade it. 10 things that I've learned about gardening for beginner gardeners. Of all the different things I've learned in my limited experience, I've picked 10 to share with you. I welcome any seasoned vets willing to chime in. But since ...

In this video I speak briefly about my experience with UA-cam. How it was introduced to me to how I use it now. It started out pretty shady, it didn't necessarily keep my interest. It has now developed into something that we watch daily in our household. I not only use UA-cam for informational purposes, but for entertainment as well. I just wanted to shout out some channels that I have watched ...
Happy Thanksgiving!

Wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving! Just wanted to take the time to self promote. I've watched some of my earlier videos in the weekly garden update playlist and I thought it was interesting to see how my channel has grown and how my videos have evolved. I started out pretty raw and uncut. I later on took the time to learn how to do some simple edits. Check them out. Links to the playlists b...
Johnny Learns Gardening Winter Prep and Fall Cleanup

Tried a few different things. I recorded the footage last weekend. I finished editing it today. Just showing what I've done to clean up and prepare my garden for next season. Harvested a bunch of leaves from my brother's house. Took the trellis down. Dumped the soil from a couple pots in the raised garden bed. Started a leaf mold bin. Shot some working footage. Played around with the editing. U...

I've recently started an affiliate program with Seedneeds.com. In all honesty I have yet to try them out. I just ordered a few packs of seeds including wild flowers, different lettuces, different radishes, different basils, and different lavenders. I say different, meaning there are a few different varieties that came with the package. Go ahead and give them a try. The prices were reasonable to...
JOHNNY LEARNS GARDENING: HARVESTING LEAVES
Переглядів 3452 місяці тому
Shot a few clips of us at my brother's house, getting some of his leaves. I believe it is an oak tree. His wife said it was a maple. We don't really know. I googled a photo of the bare tree and it said midwest maple. Then I googled a photo of a leaf, and it said oak. Either way, I guess I should research more about each tree/leaves. I think I heard that oak leaves can make your soil acidic. I'l...

I don’t know why the bubble sound effect happened in my intro. I’m positive I didn’t do that myself. Has this type of thing happened to anyone before?

Googling lavender propagation, everything is concentrating on propagation from cuttings, which seems to imply that it is far easier/quicker to grow from cuttings from existing plants than from seeds.

@@TheGDJames I have come across that fact in my research. I suppose the whole point of this project is to overcome my failures. In addition to that, I’m giving the Seedneeds seeds a try. The owner is the boss of a relative, so I figured I could promote his business as well as earn a commission from his affiliate program. James, I really appreciate the comments, views, and support. Thank you.

i've seen both of those videos too, and I think I understand what they're saying. (?) The first one is saying that the UA-cam AI is very good at its job, and will find your audience for you, by suggesting it to people and seeing who bites and who doesn't. Personally, I'm not sure though whether getting the people you know to watch your videos would interfere with that too much, as AI is intelligent after all, and knows who it suggested the video to and who it didn't, lol. The second video is saying that your friends will ruin things like your retention stats, as they'll only watch for a few seconds as they're not interested in gardening. Again, I'm not convinced that that is correct, because if i watched a friend's video I would have the courtesy to watch it all the way through.

I hear what you’re saying. I am experimenting with it. The last couple videos I’ve posted I made sure to refrain from sharing them to my other social media outlets. I was hoping the 10 things I learned video would have produced better results, but it at least got me you. Thanks for the sub, and thanks for the participation. I truly am grateful. I saw you’re from the U.K. It’s nice to see how far my videos reach. Keep in touch.

Onions don't seem to like competition from other plants or weeds, so I'd grow them in their own separate place. Also, counter-intuitively to me, they are heavy feeders, so in a crop rotation plan you have them following beans. Mulching with grass cuttings is good, as it suppresses weeds, and may help feed nitrogen to the onions. Okay, so although this post comes across as if I'm an expert, I'm just a learner too, lol.
