I barely have time to play video games, so i just think about them to much
Outward Definitive Edition: The Polarizing Souls-Like Survival Game
Outward is an extremely challenging "souls-like" rpg survival game. It has a tendency to be either hated or loved by those who give it a try. Truly a diamond in the rough. It has extremely innovative and unique mechanics that can get lost in the rough edges of the game.

Baldur's Gate 3 Retrospective | A Fantastic Journey to a Mediocre Destination
Переглядів 3,5 тис.5 місяців тому
Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the most enjoyable games i've ever played. I decided to take notes and analyze what makes it great and it's short comings. I know there has been some patches, hotfixes and updates since launch. So maybe some graphically issues I had will no longer be present. At the end the script for this video essay ended up being 38 pages long and over 25k words. This video took an ...

Random encounters range from absurd to realistic and help enhance the overall feel of video games. In this video I discect what is it that makes a great random encounter and what are some the downfalls and highlights in rpg's like Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Fallout 4.

Fine I’ll Say It, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is Better Than Skyrim

This is a video essay about the Realistic Medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance and why it’s one of the best video games in 2023 even though it was released 5 years ago. 0:00 Intro 0:37 Henry 2:02 Combat 2:39 Overwhelming 3:34 The Menu 4:06 The Skills 10:38 ave System 12:14 Economy 12:58 Fetch Quest 13:55 It's Beautiful 14:55 Atmosphere 15:55 Realism 17:18 Zero to Hero
I just wish henry wasnt so angloid
Naaaah. Skyrim is better. Kingdom Come Deliverance also has the advantage of coming out 7 years after Skyrim and implementing elements Skyrim and Elder Scrolls pioneered on better hardware.
... a "retrospective" on a game that's less than a year old???? Heck, less than six months old when this video released? I know that the dictionary definition of the term works for this, but online it's typically reserved for when a game is old enough that it might offer feelings of nostalgia for some people (hence, the core word "retro")
I'm not starting until I know release of kcd2, then I will play my level 18 Henry on ps5 been grinding his levels since 2018 lol only upto the miller's house lol with 100k + plants.
I love KCD, but about the combat system I gotta say... It's good in concept, but sort of bad in how it was implemented. I think it could've been done better, maybe with more budget, I guess. So sure, at the beginning you don't know how it works, so that's frustrating. Then you understand it, start to get good at it... that's exciting. But then you realize than all you need to do is parry incoming attacks, and that's it (I think is called "master stroke" or something). It's the only mechanic that you actually need. The rest (the combos, the faints, dodging, etc) are somewhat useless. If you try combos, you are giving your oponents an oportunity to hit you with a master strike of their own, so no good. Faints very rarely work, and you still can get parried. Dodging is harder to do than just blocking (it requires you to time the move correctly), and offers no other real advantage. So like all you need to do is press the master strike button when the green shield lights up, and that's it. Wait for an attack, press a button, that's it. I think the whole system would be great if all those different moves and tools could have their proper place in the gameplay. Like making the master strike a bit harder to pull off, and then making all these different techniques useful in different situations. Also, even when you get somewhat proficient at fighting, there are still problems, like when you try jumping from one enemy to the next, that could be way more smoothly, or feeling the movements of your character a bit more fluid and connected to your orders (it sort of feels as if you were lagging). I hope the next game adress this. It's been a long time since I've played, so maybe some of the things I've said aren't super accurate, but speaking from memory, those were my takeaways from the game. I still want to go back to it sometime, it was very fun overall.
Melhor? Não sei, mas com certeza estão lado a lado pra mim, são duas propostas totalmente diferentes e eu amo os dois. Aguardando ansiosamente a sequência que sai no final do ano se tudo der certo.
The title isn’t wrong
i think the biggest thing you missed is probably the map, because you dont have any magical gps and actually have to use landmarks to find your way.
and witcher
I played the game and one of my skills got bugged so the skill which shoots multiple arrows while strafing got the damage of snipe shot on each hit so I was hitting like a truck with 3 snipe shots while also dodging
Not a souls-like
damn thats a really rare good online take
I wish bow had perks
Me too, but there's a good mod that adds it.
L take
KINGDOM COMING 2... KINGDOM COME 2 IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!
REJOICE!!!!!
Correction. The Holy Roman Empire. I know the Roman Empire and HRE sound similar but they were VERY, VERY different.
holy roman empire is roman empire
@@Flavius-Timasius No, the Holy Roman Empire is not the Roman Empire; they're different entities from different periods. If you claim they're the same, you don't know history and you're just saying that because they have the words "Roman Empire" in their titles.
Is this really a controversial opinion? Skyrim is a braindead RPG with no depth
Bro, I've given this game a million chances and it never clicked for me. I felt like it was too complicated and I couldn't figure out the trick. I tried it again a week ago, with a totally different mindset, thinking: Okay, I clearly can't take on two guys at once. Face it. Clearly this guy is going to beat the shit out of me. Face it. I have to practice. Fight. Jump. Run. Just like in real life. After 50 hours on the game, I'm starting to feel kinda powerful, and it feels soooooo good, man. I wish progression in all videogames were like this. It's just crazy. I love this game and I regret my pussy mentality in the past 😂 (The first times I always gave up at the fist fight with the first guy. Then I realized that I needed my friends to beat a guy who was clearly stronger than me. God, this game is amazing!)
Well... bethesda writes well and makes fun games, but they have a lack of tact, and it shows... some games just don't connect with the player, they recycle too much, they don't like to improve and they waste characters and plotlines... also they put very mediocre acting on some of their games... While skyrim is the most popular and funniest of their projects... I believe the most solid all around game they have is Dishonored, its fun, has great characters, a good plot... yet they do waste some oportunities and don't expand the universe
*part of the Holy Roman Empire That's a very different thing than the actual Roman Empire.
hre is roman empire
@Flavius-Timasius Nah, it's the middle of Central Europe. Barely anything Roman about it other than name. It wasn't even an empire, let alone Roman.
There's that old saying in sex, it's all about the journey, not the destination.
I was reluctant to play this game, thought it would be boring. Oh boy was I wrong, this is really one of the best rpg's, and for me the historical setting is much more appealing than the orks and elfs of most other games.
OMGosh!!! Do I love this game. Outward is truly a call back to RPG's of old. Every moment was an adventure for me. At first I SUCKED and got trapped in the city as the bad guys where sitting at the gates waiting for me to come out. But then I set down and really looked at what I could do. Rest, eat and drink up. Grab some traps. Go out the back door. Set up like 10 traps. Used a bow and arrows to pull the bandits in to the traps. "Clink" one trap... "Clink" two traps... "clink, clink, clink" five traps go off, one bandit with a sliver of life left... "sword slash" and "girlish squeal." I did it... I killed the things... I AM AWESO.... And I was just killed by a pack of hyenas. Scar told me to be prepared. I was not. :P Look. So many RPG's today are needlessly linear and about as boring as point-and-click CD-ROMS. Outward though. Outward is magic and has so much replayability. My first playthrough I used a bow and pulled things in to traps. One of my playthroughs I was a fire knight with a two-handed sword and fire magic. My next playthrough I'm going to hit magic totems with a guitar and use the magic totems to attack monsters. How can you not love that.
no its not
1:13 Holy Roman Empire. Which was neither holy nor Roman.
it was holy and roman
How so? I'm curious to what led you to that conclusion despite the facts to the contrary.
Its one of the best games Ive ever played. The game really doesnt tell you anything and does not hold your hand. This makes it confusing at first and seems almost boring, but the lore magic and survival mechanics are really deep, and every acheivement feels rewarding even if its surviving your first journey in the wilderness. It is unique and very much a breath of fresh air in a world of dumbed down cash grabs. This feels like an old school RPG and you pretty much be any kind of character you can imagine, (Wizard, SpellBlade, Tank, thief, etc)and each has a completely different playstyle. The whole feel of the game is charming, relaxing but also epic with intense moments barely surviving a journey or a dungeon. Be prepared to cook, brew, bandage, eat, sleep, craft, and most importantly... walk. Its a large world that you will hike with your trusty backpack in search of new secrets and adventures. Seriously play this game!
There's no mods that let you do the dirty with women though.
I just came to laugh at the title cya now
Thanks for the honest, in depth review! Really liked it! All the best 💪
After reaching Act 3 of this game I learned I'd rather if they make bosses fun than difficult. The combat got horribly boring after a while to the point I just couldn't finish it. At least with baldurs gate 1&2s combat, once the puzzle is solved it's fast
Freeing Orpheus seems to be the greatest of all evils, if he's going to die anyway, he may as well die a hero
I agree
I played skyrim, but i cannot play it until the end.. I'm sorry to say, i was bored. Then i played KCD, there's the gem.. i just thought, they should add more crafting method like Blacksmithing and mining... Maybe in the sequel
i bought it in PS4 to play it, then I bought a PC and bought the game again to play it, I'm thinking of buying an xbox just to buy it again and play it, this game is just .... *chef's kiss
i hate the backpack mechanic.
idk why anyone would compare this to skyrim they are very different
Yeah the Roman empire definitely part of the Roman empire.....😮💨
it was part of roman empire
Kingdom Come Deliverance is a top tier fprpg
I started playing it this week, and I didn't think it would be such a complicated game at first. It really makes you feel like you're a noob who doesn't know how to do anything. I didn't like this at all, but I understand that it's a realistic videogame, not only in the graphic section, but as a whole. I'm going to give it a chance, because I love RPGs and I think it deserves some more of my time. Let's see what my opinion is once I've played it for a few more hours.
I really enjoyed the fact that time is a factor. I’ll expand on it more with an example: you may have a quest to date Theresa, but if you take to much time to do it or miss the day of the date, the quest is gone. In games like Skyrim you may go a full year or finish all the sub quests at anytime without any consequences for taking to long to do it, but in this game you can fail a quest bcs you let time passed and I do like that ‘cause in real life time is a real factor.
Fine, I'll say it: KCD sucks.
cry
the save system in this game is great, I'm annoyed by it but I'm only annoyed by it because it forces me to play carefully and make more tactical and strategic choices. When I play Fallout or Elder Scrolls I just have a bad habit of saving constantly. Anytime I can sense that I'm coming up on something even remotely dangerous I'll just save and reload. I really love that Kingdom Come forces me to be thoughtful, careful and accepting when I fuck up. It's okay to blow something big in this game because sorry you don't have a choice. So if you screwed up, you screwed up and have to live with it.
I don't know man. I disliked Skyrim. Kingdom come I played maybe 15 minutes. And then I died in jail. It was game over. And I didn't have the urge or need to try again. And the protagonist looks like a moron.
lmao
When I first read the title last winter, I chuckled a bit and swiped down to see somethin else. Mind you, I barely started CKD. Now just from the title I agree with you. Also do you like baklava?
Alone from the fighting design i have to disagree the world building and story is good fighting is complete ass i ended up with a sneak build waiting till night so i can sneak kill almost all enemies
If you push through, this game will be such a treat. It’s in my top 5 games of all time. So excited for KC:D 2!
Most games make magic look something ordinary and weak...mages are usually extremely weak characters but with not really that much offensive output and most of the times they are turned into healers to make magic good for something i guess...thats true even for the best AAA games availabe but a fireball to your face SHOULD be more impactful than an arrow (something Bethesda clearly doesnt agree with) in outward...it IS...mages have sacrificed Something to get their magic(in almost every game thats true wether it is being more prone to death or less hp or armor)and in outward you actually get rewarded for it the basic fireball from sigil of fire deals a Very respectable anount of damage matching any kind of physical damage until very late game and thunderstrike is unparalleled in damage among everything availabe in the game...furthermore magic also has utility in this game you can make yourself warm or cold, create light, get boons that normally need consumables, summon allies, create weapons, increase armor, increase resistance, craft rare items, debuff enemies, heal allies, make traps, the list goes on...even counting impact no single simple skill beats the magic push(forgot the name actually) and when combined with the right sigil it also can get unparalleled by anything else, overall the magic system may not look as flashy as dragons dogma,or as varied as skyrim or elden ring but they have done it SO fundamentally right that you just cant compare them
You should be locked in fucking prison
I love this game I've only been playing for a few weeks, the only thing I really hate is when you fast travel and can't avoid a fight and get jumped by six cumans cuz my horse bucked me off. Other than that this game is stellar
That's not exactly a high bar.
I’m only at the beginning of Kingdom Come Deliverance so far (doing the first night watch quest) but this is how I’d rank the open world games I’ve played in the past few years: F:NV>>>>>RDR2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>KCD>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Fallout 4 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Skyrim
