    I recently bought the sk5 and then the san mai version, the sk5 i keep in my work pack and the san mai in my car. I tested how well the sk5 could chop on a 4" diameter tree, with about a medium strength chop it bit into the tree about half way. I replaced the nylon strap with a large C clip meant for the secure-ex sheaths.

    Now that you've had these for a while, is there any way you could do an actual review on the set? Are the punches actually stronger, or were they the same junk with a shiny coating on them? Does the pin holder work, or is it a gimmick?I'm tired of searching for long term reviews and only finding initial impressions. If you made that video, it would stand out from all the rest, and it would be very much appreciated and not just by me.

    • @kennykash6089
      @kennykash6089 8 місяців тому

      It's a hammer and punch pin set bro. The components are well made. Even the plastic case is pretty nice. What more could you want to know? There are guides online showing people using these kits...

    • @BERTalert7
      @BERTalert7 8 місяців тому

      @kennykash6089 I'm one of those people who researches the heck out of anything before I buy because I don't have a lot of money laying around to replace lesser products that suck. (I very rarely have buyers remorse because of it.) I'm trying to figure out which punch set to get. Most of the initial reviews are talking about how good the kits are but those people usually haven't even used the set yet. Most reviews I've seen or read about punch sets once they've used them, talk about how crappy they are or how the punches bent or how this or that broke. I'm just wondering if the punches are actually decent quality, or if they just look pretty. Or, as I have a hunch, that all the negative reviews are from people who misused them and damaged the pieces. It's just been really frustrating trying to find a good review of a good set of firearm punches from someone that has actually used them for a period of time. That's all I'm asking.

    • @BERTalert7
      @BERTalert7 8 місяців тому

      I'll keep searching for the guides you mentioned. Thanks.

    • @kennykash6089
      @kennykash6089 8 місяців тому

      @@BERTalert7 Fair enough. I think it's a solid punch set for the $40. I recommend it along with a pivot pin installation tool (same company sells them for $10 or so) and a bench block (any brand). It makes life much easier during a build. I personally wouldn't spend an extravagant amount on an AR/M4 armorer's wrench. The lower end ones work fine by me, but others will disagree. A good/sturdy vise helps as well. If you're only doing one build, I would try to borrow these tools and kits. I've loaned out my tools to others with positive feedback. You can absolutely build an AR lower by taking shortcuts and using tools you probably have laying around. An AR is a simple build compared to an AK build that requires riveting and press fitting components. That said, it sucks to lose springs or pins, scratch or ding your lower, etc. I also don't know many people who stop with one AR build. Also consider that people WILL buy these used kits and tools off of Craigslist too if you must recoup a percentage of your funds.

    I bought one and it arrived today (10/02/2023). I used to own an XL with the standard drop point blade. Gave hat knife away and with the exception of my Pro-Tech TR3, I focused on manual knives. This lately, for whatever reason, I've been getting into autos and assisted knives again. I saw this model available online and I first checked for reviews on UA-cam. I came upon your review so I decided to pull the trigger. So far I'm loving it. The size is just right. I love the feel of the handle and the knife is very aesthetically pleasing. I don't find the standard model visually appealing. Thank you for your review.

    I have it also, in my opinion are the handles too lightweight. Many tricks i can do with other balisongs without problem i can not perform well with the Papillon. But it is still a good looking Balisong, but for somebody who want learn flipping i would not recommend it.

      @rostigernagel4266 Рік тому

      You was answering fast 😀 I have the knife now since some days, some tricks are not working properly with that knife. Due to the light weight of the handles, they often bounce back. Such a behave i never had before with an another balisong. I have some from Bear and Son, old school Manila Balisongs, Fox and so on. They have all much heavier handles, therefore much better to flip and making tricks. But still i like it, standard tricks are working fine. What i also recognized: When the knife falls, it always falls blade tip first, as the blade is heavier than the handles.

    • @ferrisbueller9991
      @ferrisbueller9991 Рік тому

      You can always add weight, easier than taking it off. Two little plastic covered metal "socks" for the bottom of each handle could do the trick.
