One of Two = We (an album preview @DrMJL)

One of Two is We (1 of 2 = We) An album preview @DrMJL exploring variations on long-distance small-talk between partners. It is an interesting musical study of how different musical styles with the same lyrics can confer different moods to the listener and meanings to the whole song. suno.com/playlist/c2018232-33c9-4b3c-b9ee-0e6d1022deaa

Well this is how I felt after my piano was tuned to concert pitch. I really missed those honky tonk, bluesy sounds. What can I say? I was feeling melancholy and this contemporary piece was the result.

This piece has a grungy left hand which is grooved to be like a slow freight train... what do you think?

Slower than my dead nan tryna walk up the stairs...
When is the next live performance? Xmas party at UoL perhaps?
I may bring my keyboard 🎹 in :)
Schön! Eine melodische Öffnung die die Stärke der Komposition hervorhebt. Danke dafür!
simply great done! congrats
What a lovely version Martin! This is one of my favourites on the guitar & singing, so might put a video of it soon, u never know!? Merry Christmas, Paul & wee-Fiona. x x x x
Cheers Bro! I love this tune too. Would love to hear your version. Ralph McTell is actually related to our neighbours here. Amazing eh?! Have fun in Germany. Much love from us in Lincoln xx :-*
Merry Xmas Bro & here's my version... ua-cam.com/video/15Ixo36FvOg/v-deo.html
Hysterical!!!
Absolutely Beautiful!
Haha 😂 Great playing, they were loving it!
Excellent job! I think it is funny that Susan was what was recommended after your video.
Cheers Brian. All the best over there. I’ll upload some more later. I gave a bit of a back log.
Wow, Ruddi great! Wish I'd heard that at Christmas, as would have got me all festive!! Nice one Martin! Keep the ditties coming... Paul-Bro. x x x x
Cheers Paul et al. :) was inspired to record it after your sparkling New Year video with Silke and wee Fiona :)
That was fun, thanks Martin :) Happy new year! o/ :)
Cheers Jason . Hope you have a great New Year ahead :)
Liked it more than "slow freight train"... them ivories were talkin' too me maaaaaaan!! ;-)
I liked it until the weird ending. lol
Me too DrB (need to practice better endings) or was I weirdly talking to my cat again?! :) lol
There is no perfect! I thought it was great!! ;-)
Cool! But it was hard for me to hear the piano. Is the guitar playing the keyboard set to a certain sound?
Yes - just a sequenced backing track really - piano set to low volume - I have not added a melody or voice track yet, but the poor Mac Book Pro is now not working, so I cannot modify on Garageband until I get another Mac :)
have you tried on the iPad?
I will be expecting a royalty check for use of my handsome image. lol
Thanks so much Martin! Sounds awesome. I love the sound of your piano and those keys. That brings me back, growing up I had a piano with missing ivory coverings. Keep up the great work.
I am delighted you had time to listen. Much appreciated. The piano is 100 years old. I saved it from a nearby church. I am in search of getting the sustain pedal, action, ivories, etc., sorted out, to give it new life. Many thanks again and all the best from Lincoln, UK.
Wow 100 years old! I'd like to play on that beast sometime :) All the best Martin
very pretty
Brian Breedlove Than you - it was my best outfit! ;)
Pity most of these trains have gone. Eve
Great atmospheric music, loved the title Eve
For another version imitating trains, see: ua-cam.com/video/ZZ6JX09MXbA/v-deo.html
I thoroughly enjoyed that!
Brian Breedlove Thanks B. My Sendai blues :)
I'm really liking these uploads lately :)
Jayzonfire Thanks for that - all the best to you :)
Kitty wanted to play too! XD
I certainly enjoyed that one. :)
Thx J :)
That was so cool!!!
Not sure if the song and blues go together, but it was interesting. But what do I know? :)
Yes, it was a bit of a fusion of styles - not everybody's cup-of-tea - you know me, a bit experimental :)
Brian Breedlove it's my favourite. 😢😢 I love the Betty Blue influence.
It is nice, but I was just thinking that the song lends itself to big band jazz. I don't know Betty Blue at all.
This is my favourite! Love the Betty Blue influence! Xx
Annie chan looks as though she's enjoying it a lot! Bless. Maybe she can actually hear the music or just the vibration? She is a bit deaf!!!
I think the deafness helps!
Nice one, Martin! Love your pet cat too. DR K
Sincere thanks to you DrK - still lots to learn and fun to have - NOW, mmm, that Albert Ammon's left hand... another month to go and I will start thinking of the right twiddly bits... thanks again for your great lessons and transcribed piano scores - cheers :)
I'm glad to be your inspiration! Keep up the good work and it seems the cat likes it too ! 😊👍
Still lots to learn - huge thanks for subscribing, especially from somone as talented and established as you! Here is a recorded version for you: ua-cam.com/video/RfviVXpifjc/v-deo.html . Cheers.
That was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed that :)
Jayzonfire Thanks Jason. I will add some more of my tunes as time goes on :)
Very good :)
Hilda King Much appreciated my lovely :)
