Anyone who actually buys something digitally (games, movies, TV shows and even money) is an idiot. Just wait until the company or even government (in the case of digital money) goes into your account and takes something if not outright delete and shut it down. Just ask all the Disney fans how much Disney original streaming content is there again or the paypal users who had the company shut down their account and keep their money because they don't like them for whatever reason. Only thing digital is good for is if you're renting something or watching for free. Obviously you don't want to keep something you're just trying out and want to return it afterwards.

I agree 100% Online content can also be "altered/censored" as well as completely removed.

What annoys me about this is that there are so many older movies that aren't released on physical media or are so high priced, you have to buy digital media. With video games, you have to buy dlc digitally or wait for them to release the game with the content and possibly pay more for it. I think the people who probably don't care about if they own digital media or not are people who are minimalists.

Crisis on Infinite Earths pt 3 in 4k is only available as a steelbook like part 1 and 2. It has gone up with each release. Pt 1 was 32.99, pt 2 was 39.49 and pt 3 is a wopping 47.99 on Amazon currently. It's insane how it jumped in price each time with the last being the most egregious jump. I need it to complete the collection but will wait to see if the price drops.

I cancelled my Netflix in December 2022. There have been some shows with a lot of buzz that I've been like aw man I kind want to see that. But then like the whole binge watching and the talk about some shows/movies dies down and I forget all about it. Many shows/movies on there are adapted from books that I literally own and never read so I will just read the book - I wanted to see that Leave the World Behind movie and I already had the book so I just read it instead. I guess I have saved over $400 since then as I had the 17-20 bill with them every month! I think the only thing that will make me sign up would be to watch the last season of Stranger Things. I do take advantage of the Black Friday 1.99 or $20/year deals on Hulu, Peacock or whatever else limited things might be offered - and I also love the free options: Tubi, Pluto TV, Fandango, LIVE tv on Roku or the Roku Channel and my library card lets me check out movies on Kanopy so I find things on there too. Also just checking out movies/tv shows at the library itself. As a collector I have a huge backlog of movies/shows already in my collection right on my shelves!

I got off Netflix way back in 2020. It was the same thing with me. I wasn't watching it because I didn't like the Netflix originals, but I was also paying for my siblings to watch. I cut them off of course. Since then, I've become and HBO fan. I don't think we should completely denounce streaming though. Streaming is where we find new content (other than movie theaters). A healthy balance between streaming and physical media would be to keep streaming just to watch new stuff and collect our favorite movies and tv shows on physical media. At least that's my take on it.

Easier to play the files directly on your PC. Jellyfin is more awesome to stream onto your TV and phone or tablet.
