Good morning!

This is the sermon I needed. I woke up on Christmas to a ban from Instagram & Facebook. My biggest hobbies all use Facebook as the login… felt like I lost my whole life. I run a company that makes a good amount of revenue on Facebook.. I realized soon after this was God striking my idols down. I’m now 15 days clean from caffeine, mobile video games, social media scrolling, lust, etc. I’m still praying I get my accounts back, but I know God is using this situation to bring me back to him. I will NOT replace those idols with new ones. For my eyes are fixed on the lord, and I only want him, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

Great message. But I would love to have dialogue about some of this. You make the point that you have very strong feelings about ramming the car in front of you in traffic but you don’t act on those feeling. But the difference between that and people who are gay is that hitting the car in front of you can hurt people. Being gay and loving who you love isn’t hurting anybody. I’m not saying it’s not a sin, clearly the Bible says it is. I just think this is where we as Christians lose a lot of the gay audience when we start comparing their feelings to peoples feelings of violence or feelings of hate or revenge. I agree with the overall point that we all have sinful nature and we should not act on them. I just wish there was better example to give gay people to help them understand. Because for the most part even non Christians can understand the concept of don’t lie, don’t steal, don’t rape, don’t kill. But when you say “don’t love that person” it doesn’t exactly line up with those other things. I understand that no son is bigger than the other but for many gay people and non Christian’s it’s hard for them to connect why them loving who they love is the same as killing or stealing or losing. I guess I came into this hoping I would have some better ammunition to use when I talk to gay people about this, but it’s kind of the same thing they are use to hearing. I hope that makes sense. Not trying to argue, just trying to keep the conversation going.
