While all lives matter, the utterance "All Lives Matter" in opposition to BLM misses the point: it erases the specific, heightened risk black people face in the context of law enforcement. By saying "All Lives Matter", the implication seems to be that black people lack something to be able to occupy the position of "all" unproblematically. Thus, it is the notion of "all" that is discriminatory, because it fails to recognize the particular devaluation of black people by the system.
