This is a very stylish presentation. In the late nineteen sixties we had a utility room at the back of our house in Belfast. This room doubled as a workshop. I remember very quickly putting together a simple machine that included a small drawing board to which a heavily weighted rigid pendulum was attached on the underside. Paper was placed on the top surface of the board and the tip of a lightly weighted pen rested on this. The pen was held by a light arm and a second heavily weighted pendulum pushed the pen backwards and forwards along the paper. While the pen motion was restricted to one axis, the table moved in two axes. I still have my drawings and they are a lot like the ones you show here.

This is so beautiful! I just made an experimental dance film using dust as well and this came up in my sidebar. So glad that it did. Such wonderful work!

2 minutes and 56 seconds... of which, only about 30 seconds of it actually shows the machine and what its doing... Would MUCH rather of just saw the machine working and doing what its supposed to do, instead of watching about 2 minutes and 26 seconds of some chick staring creepily down out of frame, some weights swinging around, and a chain.........

The machine looks very nice, but the produced images seem to have pretty poor quality.... (Due to the pen used?)
