Speedometer Fix [96 Chevy Astro ] Small Do It Yourself Repair
Is gary dead?
Thank you for posting this crazy I would search for 66 specifically and my name is Gary lol
What is the circumference of your wrist?
This worked perfectly and now my speedometer is working. Huge thanks!
Great explanation, thank you, What is the size of the nub to be removed?
I have the same problem,i did the same ,but it still doesn't work???
Do you think 36mm or 40mm looks more classy and stylish on the wrist?
Thank you Gary
Sorry to ruin your day but this is how they came from the factory with this spring washer. Mine Riv still had it's factory shocks and that's how they did it.
What’s up with the riv? Y’all still have it?
3:11 That cup part is not for all filter types, so make sure you bring that to the store and see if it fits.
I have a 2007 Toyota Matrix (Corolla) and have changed the oil every 3,000 miles and it is over 202,000 miles on the vehicle. The last oil change I went from conventional oil to fully synthetic Costco oil I waited 8,000 miles before draining it last night with a new filter. Be sure to change your transmission fluid. I waited too long until 196,000 miles to do my first change. By draining you can only get out about 4 or 5 quarts dropping the pan changing the filter. My transmission fluid was supposed to be permanent. My fluid was black with only a faint slight red on a white paper towel. After my transmission fluid change there is a lot more red in the black. Trouble is: there is a lot more liquid in your transmission. I will drain it again changing the filter and replacing the fluid. Warning us only the approved transmission fluid. I use the Castrol Transmax type T-IV. The correct transmission fluid is critical to proper transmission operation. The Castrol is much cheaper than the OEM Toyota automatic transmission fluid that is easily over $10 a quart. Be aware: Toyota says your automatic transmission is good for the life of your car. What is next? oil that never has to be changed? I want my car to last for another 100,000 miles so changing the transmission fluid is well worth it for me. I did just buy 4 new Michelin 80,000 mile tires from Costco for under $600. An incredible deal on a set of 4 tires even for lesser quality tires. I just changed the alternator, water pump, thermostat, drive belt and tension er. I do want my 2007 Matrix to make it to 300,000 miles.
I’d recommend Amsoil fluids and filters. Longer change intervals and you’ll see improvement in mpg and overall performance. Great results in my 2004 Corolla.
Your watch has almost zero sag.
just a pro tip dont use the orange and black fram oil filters there junk use oem or wicks
i think its a 14 mm not a 15 mm oil drain plug
You’re correct it’s 14 mm
What type or weight of fluid did you use?
Yeah I have a GS , bought it for my 60th Birthday . 96 original miles. need some cosmetics done on the inside.
Where's the drain plug
Hello Gary, I'm French, I have a 66 Buick Riviera. I need to change my gear joint like you. What is the size of the socket to unscrew the nut. Thank you for this video, I love it.
What size socket
Impact wrench
I got a 63 it's at the same procedure
All the ones i owned are the same
You need a ratchet
This was clear, concise and to the point. So helpful, thanks!
what do you do with the oil drenched pan and bucket?
I need to do this on my 67 Riv, it is burgundy Plum, with white interior, the Putina , is ofc the chain, it has never been garage kept, iv owned now for 10 yrs.it runs well, and I get so many screens when I drive it.I have to give it to you, your well experienced, far more than me, I keep mine at my mothers old house with no garage, just covers.Keep it up I’ll be here for your grand finally Gary.
What size of oil filter wrench you have? I have same model Corolla as yours.
Thanks for the video sir I just bought the same car and my fuel gauge not working I might have to drop my tank to check the sending unit.

This is great! I also have a 1966 Buick Riviera Gran Sport as my first project car. Hoping to finally get going on it this year, so glad I found your channel. Thanks for sharing the journey!
Would you sell this car?
Il sell mine. Same one
Did you disconnect van battery before moving speedometer back to zero? I have same problem in my 96 GMC K2500 sub after doing a jump start with a battery jump box. Good video.
Thanks friend thanks to your video I was able to solve the problem of my van.
It's a 14 mm socket
36 is so classic!
What is the diameter of oil filter wrench cup?
does it have male endlinks?
Mr. Gary, are you still there? I just got a 97 Astro and I can figure out how to turn off interior lights! Halp me, Mr Gary!
Thank you for the video easy to follow along and makes it less intimidating for someone who knows nothing about cars to do some basic car maintenance
Thanks a lot
Obsessed with the 36’s. Love me a classic
They still make the 36mm size. He said the newer versions are all 40mm. Not true!

Gary since you last posted, the cardinals are gone, goodfellas are a new crew of dopes and rich buddy and plastic are boycotting Archie until a regime change, Archie finally sold some pateks and repurchased Rolex. He now admits he’s been married and gave up telling lies about the fake Asian mistresses. His channels are all going down the shitter, the competition is blowing by him at warp speed.
Gary, I am just now watching your series of videos and I am really enjoying them. You really taking your time to explain things helps a beginner car enthusiast like myself tremendously; keep up the great work! And yes, Volbeat does indeed rock!
Nothing like a satisfaction of changing your oil😎
Gary kicked the bucket. Move on.
Gary is in better shape than the 66 Riviera
Thank You very much for making this video!! We had the exact same problem in our astro van.
I have the 18238 with the double quick set on bracelet and the 1803 on leather strap. The 18238 is really beautiful n attract alot of attention. No regret buying them. Last but not least I got my 18238 earlier this yr b4 Covid19 hits for about slightly less than US$10,000 without box n paper...really good price cos the price has gone up alot over here in Singapore where I am.
Thanks for the video. It is really useful for someone like me who knows not much about their car
