More on Your Core: How to breathe normally while engaging your core
That background music is unbearable
I love this - what he explains in the clip about the back muscles cramping happened to me and now I know why, thanks I will do this core exercise at the gym tomorrow and make it part of my warm up 😊
i think im way too late here, but i am really happy i found your video, you are amazing, my core was completely dead and now i am just realizing how important it is to engage it at all times, i will keep doing that, my symptoms were mostly knee pain and a very tight pelvic floor which caused me a terrible time in the bathroom and now that i am realizing my mistake, i am trying to fix it, you're a saviour and i hope you and your closed ones are well, you deserve a special place in heaven.
99% people don't know core and glutes naturally engaged but our lifestyle destroy this engagement.
Oh my gosh I’ve been trying to figure this out for like 15 years! Thank you!!
Perfect explanation, concise and accurate, new sub here!
Thanks!
Thank you for the video!
Brilliant, thanks i can work on these very well explained techniques 👌
Super excited about being apart of this wonderful mission! Thanks for the tips! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
thanks so much, the clean explanation is 1) core= two part of the mucle below the belly 2) activation with small potieror tilt
Really good explanation this helped a lot. Thank you
So, in everyday life, when we walking or sitting and relaxing, do we need to engage the core, stacking ribs over pelvis and 360 breathing? Is that normal breathing for humans. Because, when I breath in relaxed mode, my ribs flared up a little and i can't breath 360?
Of course, it may be difficult to do that while waking or running. But you want to develop this habit for many activities, eg lifting things, even light things; while standing; bending over, sitting down etc. You don’t have to get obsessed, but if you strive to develop this habit as much and as often as possible, you’ll achieve both: you’ll get comfortable bracing core, it will become natural for you and you’ll develop correct biomechanics. Dr. Stuart McGill always stresses the importance of moving correctly in every day activities. If you haven’t listened to him yet, check him out for back health etc.
@@zzc8505 Thank you for explanation.
Omg, I finally get it!!! Tysm!! All the other tutorials was like do this amd do that complicated breathing whatever, but when you explained it, I got it fast!! All I have to do was that simple thing and I can feel the brace😮. Thank you for this!!
Hell yeah I put that thumb up boiii
Thank you for this.
thank you <3
No matter how many methods I try to learn to engage those core muscles, nothing works at all. As a pro French horn player, I've only learned how to engage the diaphragm muscle, and thus leaving all the other core muscles unattended for at least 20 years. Even just slightly activating thos dormant muscles brings me on the brink of apnea indirectly. I honestly am considering entering a Functional Rehab Center; hopefully I can resolve this lingering issue, otherwise a life of bedriddence awaits me...
thanks so much man!!!!! helped me so much
tighten your core is to basically pull your stomach in through your nose!
So what your saying is to keep your core tight do you need to push out your stomach rather than sucking it in?
So i get good vibes from you and have been struggling with this and developed pelvic floor dysfunction which i have had for 2 years. Is there anyway i can contact you? Great video
Great video i needed this
As someone with ADHD I struggle very hard with understanding how to stretch correctly without over doing it or hurting myself, this video has literally made me fully understand how to tense my stomach without feeling like I'm gunna explode! Thank you so much now fixing my posture and and strengthening my core will actually be done right ❤
You are welcome, I'm glad that it was able to help!
Great explanation 🙌🏾 Thanks 🙂
Glad to be able to help
@@fit2function528 bro why do I find it hard to walk with my core engage ?
@@MusicLover-dv8fn generally it is because the stomach muscles are deconditioned and you have to condition them to do their job instead of your back doing it alone. Which can take time, but you just have to be intentional about keeping you core working. It might just be one minute at a time that you can keep your stomach engaged. But the more you keep at it that minute will turn into 2, into 3, ect until your stomach is reconditioned to do its job
@@fit2function528 do you have to take a breathe for it to be engaged or do you just squeeze it in because when I squeeze it in I feel like I am slumping over
@@MusicLover-dv8fn the muscles can engage on their own the hardest part is learning to do that and continue breathing at the same time. See if this video helps. ua-cam.com/video/p0nFcO_RFMY/v-deo.html
Thank you so much, everyone has been confusing me. Now this makes sense.
You are amazing. I would hug you if I could. Trying to recover from spondylolisthesis and struggling with doing this properly and getting super frustrated. You made this so easy.
Amazing I watched so many videos and finally I understand thank you❤❤
Massive help for me. Thank you sir
Truly helpful now I get it.
Great simple explanation! Now I understand 👍
Does having a stronger core mean that it is easier to breathe while having them engaged? Or having a strong core doesn't matter as much in this case? Also very helpful video!
Thank you I really needed the explanation
Hi - I find your videos really really helpful! Do you have a practice to work one on one? If so I would love to know how to contact you about that. I am based in Oakland, CA. Thank you for sharing your content. 🙏🏾
I love the quick weight test to see if the core is engaged, great tip! Appreciate your videos!
Thank you very much for posting this. I need to work on my core due to back pain. I never heard information that was about day to day living and the importance of the core prior to this. Usually it’s only mentioned for fitness.
Thanks for the explanation!
Thank you so much, damn it it's been 5 years + since this has been out and God damn it no ones told me how to know if I'm doing it right, yo God bless you man finally I can workout properly
I don’t understand this is so frustrating cause I feel like every core workout I do is worthless if I can’t tighten my stomach
Please correct me if I am wrong, so you don't have to directly squeeze the abs and breathe? All I have to do is realign the pelvis and that automatically squeezes them muscles?
thank you sir. idk why ive been crying about this, but i was. i have been working out all summer very confused what people in exercise videos mean when they say "engage your core." they never explained it and they never explained how important it was so i never bothered to look it up until now! at least i feel stronger in my abs now and it wasnt an entire waste. im still a little confused and worried that im doing it wrong, but thank you so much because i understand it a lot better now. i will keep working on it and test it out tomorrow when i go to the gym. thank you again!
Good tips and explanation 👍
When starting out and practicing, is it normal to still feel like it’s hard to breath? I try it and it is definitely better than what I was trying to do before your video. But should I be able to have a full conversation right off the bat? Thank you! This has already helped!
I'm glad that this has helped! It won't make holding a convention instantly effortless, that is because your diaphragm has to get used to expanding your lung. As you keep training these muscles it will get easier and easier.
thanks, this was extremely helpful, I couldn't do more than 4 pushups before stopping to breathe, easy sub
i feel like im the only person who doesnt understand this at all. im a kid trying to lose weight.
Thank you so much for teaching us how to tighten our core the correct way. Who would've ever thought laughter would be the example! Amazing! 🙂
This changes so much. Thanks a lot! You've helped me more than any one else I've found so far!
Dude, I just found your channel, and I don't know if you still have access to this channel. But if you do, seriously, thankyou. I've recently started marching band, which is really physically taxing, and you've helped me so much with almost every aspect of it. I really appreciate you.
I don't know why, but I find it extremely hard to keep my core engaged at all times during the workout, I feel like I'm gonna have to start from scratch because it has a huge impact on the amount of reps I can do... My back hurts so bad after every workout...
This guy is a gem, I hope he’s still making videos
