      Not traditional glasses, the surgeon and staff wear dark glasses during lens procedures because they use a TrueVision NGenuity system which allows them to see a 3 dimensional view of the patient's eye on a TV screen during surgery. Good question!

    Is ICL allowed for Lasik-elligible patients? Some might prefer it given its advantages over Lasik but I see many doctors pushing Lasik whenever possible... why can't we choose?

    • @ClearChoiceLaser
      @ClearChoiceLaser 3 місяці тому

      The truth is - you can choose. ICL is certainly "allowed" for LASIK eligible patients. A few things to consider- 1. There are still a good number of doctors who don't offer the ICL procedure. 2. Some patients are candidates for LASIK, but are not a good candidate for ICL (and vice versa). If you get evaluations from doctors who perform both procedures, you might feel more comfortable with your decision in the long run.

    • @ClearChoiceLaser
      @ClearChoiceLaser Рік тому

      This is an excellent question. Each EVO ICL Collamer lens has a prescription built into it. Before we perform the procedure, we typically do about 2 hours of testing so that we order just the right prescription lens for every eye.

    • @ClearChoiceLaser
      @ClearChoiceLaser Рік тому

      We typically perform the procedure on patients who have a stable prescription. Stable means little variation from year to year, it doesn't necessarily mean "no" change. If the prescription changed enough, a laser procedure like LASIK can be used to do refinements. If there were large change, we could in theory exchange the ICL, although I don't think we've experienced that scenario. In complete honesty, most patients we've worked with have not needed additional work aside from cataracts later in life- which we expected.

    Just had a superficial keratectomy done today, along with pulling down a little bit of the white part of the eye. They did a nerve block and they gave me some propofol to put me deeply sedated/asleep and this happened in the preoperative area just before going to surgery. And they told me that I would wake up just a little bit to where I would understand what’s happening and if I wanted, they can give me more sedatives and I requested to have some Versed. So they gave me the propofol very slowly and got a little lightheaded. Just a little more. But then rapidly become real lightheaded before I know it, I had fallen into that sleep, and they did the injections. And I started to come to what I was moving on my stretcher in the operating room and I can hear my surgeon greeting me and then talking and then him asking me to turn my head to the left a little bit and then the anesthesia person who is with me starts giving me Versed right after that and then that’s the last thing I remember before they did surgery because my memory was blocked and there went my recall. And I had absolutely no memory. Nor recall of what happened at all during the actual surgery. It really felt like I was completely knocked out. Verse said is strong. and before I knew it, I found myself leaving the operating room and going to recovery. And it really felt like I was taking a super long deep nap once the Versed kicked in. Because I don’t remember a thing after that until they reversed it. That made it a much smoother and positive experience. And the doctor was great. right now. I’m just recovering and resting and I’m not feeling too bad. I was still pretty sleepy/a little lightheaded and dizzy before the Versed was given.

    I’ve been on Lumigan or latanoprost drops for a couple of years and they irritate my eyes - since I’ve started I’ve gotten rosacea, and have chalazions and dry eyes more frequently. My new opthalmologist suggested I try SLT, and I just had my left eye done today. It was not 100% painless but the pain and discomfort was very minor. I go back in a month to do the other eye. I hope it works for me!

    Cataracrt surgery is a very profitable business. If there were a safe , effective, econonical way to get rid of cataracts WITHOUT SURGERY would eye surgeons offer that for us?

      Thank you for this excellent observation and question. Unfortunately, I think it would be difficult to answer for all surgeons.
