Bruce Springsteen - Darkness On the Edge of Town (Live New York 1978)
Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band at the Palladium in New York, NY on 9/15/1978. This show has a unique setlist; "Darkness" opens the show for the first time ever - one of only three times the song has opened - followed by Badlands, then Adam Raised a Cain followed by Something In The Night (the last time it would be played until 1999). Kitty's Back also makes its first appearance in over two years. Noisy audience.

The original recording from Leeds University 2/14/1970, unedited. There is a brief moment on the original LP that featured a 10-second reverse loop before the first verse. On later reissues, the reverse section was removed and replaced by another edit which cuts about 10 seconds of music. other parts of the jam were cut, which makes this version about two minutes longer than the LP version. A brand new show, just released last week(!)called 'That Old '80 Sound'. Audience tape of near-soundboard quality AND great atmosphere. From Seattle on 10/24/1980. Roy's playing and Steve's vocals are especially noteworthy. 10 straight tracks from the River in the second set! Thanks to all the work put into this gem! Final Part. Bruce Springsteen at MSG on June 22, 2000. Multi-cam mix DVD called "Incident at the Garden." I synced a better quality bootleg with the footage. Subscribe to see more from the show! Finally finished the whole show. ''If I Should Fall Behind' was a little 'tough to sync, but I got it pretty close. If I Should Fall Behind Land of Hope and Dreams

The song is one long bass solo. Can't pull this off without John Entwistle.
John and Pete trying to out do each other while both are trying to keep up with Keith !
Dios te bendiga Bruce............
Lastima que no hay buenas filmaciones de la gira Quadrophenia, pero se entiende para el grupo fue una mierda coordinar los synths y grabaciones tocando en vivo.
No better band in the world than the WHO at this period of time!
Bass with Big Balls !!!!!
Where is the complete recording? Is it actually from Manchester? Quality is definitely the best if any live versions I ever heard
The audio is from December 4 1973 - the complete show is on youtube. This video includes all the footage from the Manchester shows I could cull from the internet
Pas de commentaires bande de nul 1 très bon titre et meilleur album live de l'histoire du rock ( Guy platteau Marseille France)
This audio is from Philadelphia 1973 not Manchester.
Yeah that was badass
Does anyone know what show this was, I would love to hear the whole track, Entwistle and Moon were on fire, and Pete was great as well
this is why i write songs on you tube😊
At 2:13 this is beginning to be almost totally abstract rock. Everyone jamming the F out of their instrument and it still holds tight. This is crazy good, i wish it didn't cut off.
A made up video. The audio is from the Philadelphia bootleg (which I have). Why did you do this?
Listen to the bootleg from 11/02 and let me know how you think it sounds. I didn't even attempt to sync the audio, why did you leave this comment?
@@twcpu2369 Why? Kind of obvious because this is misleading.
I love how on the audio recording Moon is actually playing it very straight.
Jesus!!!! That’s the real deal
"Irish" Jack Lyons lookalikes take note: This is likely the only extant footage from the 1970s of Townshend playing a solid body Gretsch. Also, multiple Polaris White SGs... I thought he only had one(!) This guitar is well documented being played at Voorburg, NL., 1973.
That Hiwatt tone...lost 4ever after Pete went to Fenders...thank goodness for UA-cam!
My first ever concert, finished work, went to hmv in Manchester, picked up my pre ordered copy of quadrophenia, home, washed, changed, then off to the king's hall at Belle Vue.
Nov 2022 ! John still rules !
This was the greatest rhythm section of all time!
My top 2 are these guys and Bill/Geezer

@@PurpleWatchtower oh I love Moonie…and then there’s the Ox. What can we say about him…other than the fact that he changed rock bass overnight with that My Generation solo bit. Boom! Just like that…everything changed overnight!
At my 1st of x 5, I saw and heard this FREAKIN' great song live and witness just how GREAT MR THUNDER FINGERS really was. Jaw Dropping. Date 12/4/73 @ the Spectrum, Phila PA. PS: BEST part, i have my show in a sound board in my collection. Still playing this & the that whole show, again and again and again. Thanks to both John & Keith for making this band, the GREATEST live band in my Life-Time!! What Memories I have!! PSS: Other dates: 6/10/74, 6/14/74 (GREATEST Show on Earth) both at MSG, NYC. And # 4 on 12/15/75 sitting in row # 2 (about 6ft from John & Roger). My 5th was in '82 w/o Keith Moon and instead Kenny Jones, That was also a wonderful show but just not the same!!
Saw that tour at the Montreal forum. Pete and Keith spent the night in jail. Trashed the hotel room. Rock n Roll 🎸

John fucking Entwistle
great era for the Ox's bass tone , slightly less twang and treble than what he used previously but doesn't lose any punch

Audio from Philadelphia
best band ever
Absolutely 💯
This is Philly spectrum (Audio) i reckon
This recording is one where pete kept up with entwistle. Personally I think pete and Roger complement each other and then moon and entwsitle. Pete is lead rhythm. Keith is both lead and rhythm always the in the moment. Entwistle straight lead. Roger is a mix like pete. This band is so intertwined with the mix personalities on the stage. They just create something that I truly love. This band has gotten me through a lot. Im young 22. A 99 child. I thank and appreciate those who post this
The Doctor is the one who caused this condition!
Good comment 👍🏻
If you watch live footage you’ll notice that, unlike most bands where the drummer and bass player are focused on one another and locked in together, in the Who, Pete and Keith are the ones with eyes always locked on one another, and playing off one another. Keith was also very focused on Roger and the vocal parts, because he would stuff drum fills in any space between Roger’s lines, no matter how short. John was just kind of the glue to the whole thing, even when he was flying up and down the neck of the bass; he was still holding the foundation down while the others all danced around it. Concerning your statement that Keith and John complemented each other, I always found them to be playing almost independent of each other while still somehow also remaining locked in together.
Welcome to the camp.
Any more,big please.
Was this the recording session where Roger one punched Pete and KO''ed him?
I was thinking that and suspect it is.
No. The fight happened at rehearsals for the UK tour in London
Innovative and imaginative British rock bands a rock Rennaissance band with music acumen of classical repertoire. Petra rose city in Jordan the architect was inspired by spirit technology archaeoastronomy.
I believe that this footage was actually shot by BBC for Look North at Belle Vue on Thursday 1 November 1973 for a news report which was broadcasted on Friday 2 November before The Who's second show there. I was at the concert on Thursday night. Look North was not transmitted over the weekend in 1973.
It was filmed in silent 8mm film format by Pete's filmmaker friend Richard Stanley.
The audio is courtesy of the King Biscuit Flower Hour, which broadcasted live performances on American radio. From the Philly Spectrum, December 1973. The whole show is available on UA-cam, both extraordinary quality and performance.
I've alway's thought that they should have called it a day by about '75....
The American concerts from 76 (Pontiac thunderdome etc) are on fire. But poor Keith got in such a pickle health wise that if he had lived, they wouldn’t have sounded the same unless he really made an effort to stay sober and fit. He could get away with it as a younger man, but the way he played drums needs the fitness of an athlete I reckon. I don’t go in for diagnosing historical figures, but I reckon he had ADHD or something similar, it’s nice to think that in an alternate universe he kicked booze and drugs and got hooked on running marathons instead.
@@honved1 the Pontiac Silverdome show was 1975 but I agree, Keith still had some fire in him up to around 1976 (some great shows then like the second Charlton). He was pretty much gone health and playing wise by 1977…the Kilburn show is an indicator of that.
Love this. I was there. My first Bruuuuuuuuuuuuce show. The obsession has not subsided. At the March 24 2016 show I FINALLY GOT IN THE PIT! WOO HOO! Bruces back, butt and leg landed in my hands during the "Hungry Heart" crowd surf like a gift from the Gods.
