    For your information, those are not philips screws but JIS. The screwdrivers are different. You can manage without but it'll work better with the right screwdrivers. The risk is to slide and ruin the screw head. You can recognize the JIS because you have this little round point next to the X cross on the head of the screw. Look it up on google to learn the why of the JIS existence VS Philips.

      @@twilli8118 yes. Whichever cylinder is being adjusted needs to be at TDC on its compression stroke. Otherwise there will be tension on the valves and you cannot get proper measurements. Set TDC on front, adjust front. Set TDC on back, adjust back.

    This guy knows his stuff and will save one a lot of time. Mine had the same problem. Also, be careful which screws you choose to open the headlight bay if you do. The two that are visible are headlight adjusting screws. Do not unscrew them all the way, you will see why when you open the light bay using the other two screw at the bottom and harder to spot. They are the ones that you unscrew if you need to get into the light bay. Good luck. Thanks, helloish12321 for saving me so much time, good video.

      @helloish12321 5 місяців тому

      The jets are the brass parts that gas flows through to mix with air and go into the engine. There are typically 2; a main jet and idle jet. The larger the hole in the jet the more gas goes in. The jets with bigger numbers have larger holes. You can use this guide to help take out your factory jets to clean them but if your bike is stock (no intake or exhaust work done) then you don't need to change the sizes. If you do intake or exhaust work then you get more air in and need to adjust the jets accordingly.

    What is the gas mileage with the jet kit and different exhaust system? How many miles are on your motorcycle? I like small motorcycles and want one that will last forever, even if it is kept stock. Yamaha has a good reputation for reliability. Do you think one of these would make a great motorcycle for a couple of decades of riding for perhaps 100,000 miles?

    • @helloish12321
      @helloish12321 8 місяців тому

      From what I understand smaller motorcycles don't last as long as large ones. Overstressed engines and all that. Also this being air cooled doesn't help. I have almost 10k on mine with no severe issues. Only the usual 15 yo outside kept motorcycle things. I consider it very reliable so far and its an old simple design. Not a lot to go wrong. Completely stock I got routinely 72 mpg. After the pipes and rejet it went down quite a bit to low 50s. I was running a Chinese aftermarket carb and swapped back to the OEM mikuni and once I got that completely dialed in I get high 50s. It's a large mpg drop but the bike feels much faster afterwards.
