This channel features episodes of the Unstarving Musician podcast, weekly interviews intended to help musicians be better at marketing, business and all the other things that help us do more of what we love-make music. The podcast is hosted by Robonzo (aka Roberto R Hernandez), a longtime working musician and more recently creator of original music. Robonzo started playing music as a drummer and sometimes vocalist, working with cover and original acts predominately in Dallas-Fort Worth and the San Francisco Bay Area. Today, he's committed to curating and sharing the expertise of independent musicians and industry professionals.
315 Tony Harrah – Book Marketing, Sales Strategy, and Industry Independence
Book marketing takes center stage in part two of my conversation with independent musician and author Tony Harrah. He breaks down his mathematical approach to sales strategy, sharing insights on reaching target audiences without traditional industry gatekeepers. From his decision to self-narrate audio books to his perspective on working with publicists and labels, Tony offers practical wisdom for creative entrepreneurs.
This continuation of last week's discussion explores the current state of music, his marketing plans for his latest releases, and the launch of TheGreasyHedonist.com as his creative hub. Catch his album "Unicorns" on Soundcloud and discover how he's applying independent music principles to his expanding artistic portfolio.

Hard to explain, its High Energy, Chill Out...😅 Awesome rifts, solid Indie Beats, Top Band. ❤ Only advice I could give them is make the Songs a bit longer in duration.
She was really tolerant of this guy. Asking their age and then joking they don’t look old as if late 30’s are old. Then ask her to describe their message for people listening who may not know them, AS IF someone is going to listen to this with no video and NOT know them? Come on, bro.
Haha... Well send me your thoughts on questions for a possible follow-up interview. Getting a band known is all about getting your music and your voice out there, so kudos for Julieta for giving me the time of day. Fin Del Mundo is actually coming to Querétaro where I live for a show that I'm telling local friends about and adding, "Oh by the way, the lead guitarist was on my podcast." So you know... little by little. But seriously, I appreciate the comment and feedback. Send me those questions! 😁
I am a huge fan of Fin Del Mundo! ❤❤❤!!!!
They rock!
We are all travelers on different levels…
Thank you. I love her and love the band.
My pleasure. They are a pretty awesome band.
Great interview Mr. Carleton.
And I had a blast re listening to it for editing. Terry's such an accomplished yet grounded humble person. Thanks for listening!
Loved listening to you both chat about creative things & more about the process. I feel a dark blues track coming on ✨
That would be righteous!
Thankyou for having me! 💫
Of course. My pleasure.

That was a good episode. I like Mike....he seems to have a good head on his shoulders. I know I couldn't be editor of M.D. for 20 yrs :)
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the episode.
Not sure if true, but heard this guy has a degree from Columbia.
I'm not sure about that either. :)
8 out of 10 turned down? If you are getting 2 out of 10 accepted, you are doing really good.
That's a great reminder for us all.
awesome
PS Neil's partner got credit for my work "EDDIE" Explain that to me Neil!!!! Funny we met several times and I always thought you were cool, By the way I was a fucking bodyguard when we met. So do not act like you are tough
funny I am the real thing and in mags his partner got credit for my work!!!!
Thank you for spending so much time discussing our App Trackd. Rachel is an amazing artist and a wonderful person. We are privileged to have her in our community. If I may give an insight into why we made sure Trackd sounds so good. My Dad, Norman founded Trident Studios, the worlds first 8 Track Studio in London en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trident_Studios ...so of course, we couldn’t create anything less that pushed the boundaries of the tech but didn’t sound great! Thanks Roberto
As one of my business associates is fond of saying-Amazing! An interview with Markus K is publishing this coming Friday. It came out great, and he too couldn't say enough nice things about Trackd.
My pleasure.
Awesome video! Have a look at my music and hit subscribe if you like it 👋🤟
This is such a good interview - recommended for anybody interested in the journey of a young independent female country artist. Mira Goto is just amazing.
Thanks for listening. I met Mira at a gig I was subbing on drums for. During sound check, listening to her play guitar, I knew I was in the presence of someone special. And that was before she ever landed in Nashville!
The greatest harmonica player Hands down.
So humbled to hearing the whole story behind Cepheid out of Liz‘ perspective <3
She is amazing and awesome. I am a big fan of hers.

<33333 GREAT ADVICE AND INTERVIEW
Thanks for the comment Britanny! This was honestly one of the funnest interviews I've done in quite sometime. Notelle shared with an open and playful heart. Loving her music too!
Interesting listen!!
Hope it was enjoyable too. Are you a musician, or do you by chance know Lance?
My favorite episode so far !!! 🙌🏻💛🎶👨🎤
I first heard the "Nighthawks" in 1975 - when they did regular Gigs at The Bayou in Washington D.C. and was immediately a fan. I have known Mark on a more Personal Level just really over the last 18 years. I had taken an Immediate liking to Mark, because both of us were Heavily Tattooed before being Heavily Tattooed was Fashoinable. I remember the National Tattoo Convention in Tysons Corner in 82'. I had just got out of the Military and they played the entire Convention. I got to sit down and talk to Mark this past Friday when they played in Wheaton (Part of their Summer Shows they do for the County). Mark still Wails on that Harp like He is a teenager - and their Show was - as usual - Off the Charts! I also met their new Bass Player Paul who played like He had been with them from the Beginning. Forever a Nighthawks Fan -- "Big Don"
Nice reminiscence. I also have followed the Nighthawks from about the same time, many times at the Psychedelly and also at The Bayou and many other places, though I haven’t seen them for many years, for various reasons. I’ve always wanted to meet Mark but have never had the fortune to do so. I really enjoyed this podcast and his reflections over the many years.
That's a fantastic story! Thanks for listening and thanks for sharing!!
Enjoyed that, thanks.
Hey man, Thanks for listening!
Glad you liked it! Are you also a musician?
