Obviously there are some positive interventions there but in reality I've seen the Cornwall road expansion scheme and there's a lot more environmental damage than there is restoration. Effectively you are losing natural space everytime you construct a highway/new build housing estate, and it seems like the environemental mitigation is more greenwashing than anything else.

We use recycled plastic sleepers on a very small railway (7.25 inch gauge) in Perth. The first ones went in about 25 years ago and there is no sign of deterioration. They don't rot, termites don't eat them, the threads of screwed in rail fasteners don't rust and they have survived the occasional bushfire. They are a great success and effectively maintenance-free.

Great work Aaron; delivering a much safer and more durable surface for riders, drivers and pedestrians. It's the only TIPES Level 3 certified product for Coloured Surface Treatment in Australia at present - no-one else has been able to prove a 5-year history of compliance to the satisfaction of Queensland's Department of Transport & Main Roads and the Australian Road Research Board. #roadsafety.
