Troubleshooting Trane CGAF Compressor Trip Alarms
On this Trane CGAF Chiller, the unit was completely down. Both circuits were in alarm. When resetting the alarm, they would come right back. The alarms were Compressor Trip Ckt 1 and the same for circuit 2.

Chiller was tripping in High Discharge Superheat and Low Evaporator Temperature. Found leak where the refrigerant filter screws into.
Removing Corroded Compressor Temp Terminals

The terminals were so corroded that they broke when I tried to remove them with an open end wrench. This is the best method to remove them, without having to drill them out. This is a Trane RTHB 450 Ton Chiller.

Here I show you guys how I i distill refrigerant. Basically transferring all the vapor refrigerant from one tank and transferring it to a new tank. Leaving all the oil behind.

I closed my valves and my evaporator doesn’t initiate pump out. I pulled the charge and replaced txv with new filter drier. I feel like the suction sensor is bad but it reads the same as sensor when I take readings. Any help would be appreciated to point me in a different direction.
@famillia Sanchez HVAC I’m sick of manufacturers owning information on all of the chillers, and telling you what you can and can’t do, and always saying that they have to send a factory guy for a problem because they don’t want to provide tech support. I decided to build a platform for guys to come together and diagnose issues together on chillers, and provide video based training without having to spend 5k like you would at the factory. Is this something you are interested in helping me build? Let me know brother.

I suspect this is a common problem on the RTWD I had 2 RTWDs dump the entire charge a couple years ago through those. Only 6 years old at the time. Going to reolace them again. Every 5 years I think. To be fair those solenoids cycle like mad.

You don’t want to hurt that poor old chiller with all that surge. That thing has got to last 50 years. My favorite water cooled centrifugal chillers to schedule on Mechanical drawings as an MEP engineer is the Trane Centravac.

Good video. I work at a school. Our Trane Centravac shuts right off on 100 deg condensor water. We checked the strainer, good. No flow at cooling tower. I'm a boiler operator. a tech is coming tommorrow. I read at HVAC-Talk that maybe the output vanes? at the cooling tower could be plugged. I will check tommorrow and post what the tech found. Thanks for doing video, I didn't take AC in school.
The compressor was air bound. Tech finally hooked a garden hose directly to compressor. It took several hours. The pneumatic controller for the 3 way valve shunting cooling tower water and keeping it inside was also bad. He took the air off and got the rod to drop but that didn't get the flow going.

When you went back the next day, was all the air out? Or did it take a bit longer?
Yes, I let the purge run all day and the next day all the air was out. It had a low side leak. It would only suck up most of the air while the machine was off. The purge unit was in auto, so it would only pump out when the chiller was running.
Can you give me more details on the purge unit and why you have the restrictor bypassed? We have a CVHF770 that had a leak, we repaired the leak, but we put the contaminated R-123 back in the machine. So your video helped out a bunch but I'm just curious as to how to get non-condensables out of the system now. Thanks again!
I bypassed the Restrictor to accelerate the removal of non condensables. I also disabled Max Pumpout Alarm for 72 hrs to let the Purge get all the air out.
