Sam Sihvo composed Muistoja Pohjolosta during the Finnish Jaeger military course in Lockstedt, Germany in 1915. One of the four Sihvo-Brothers - the others were Ilmari (Captain), Jussi (Major General) and Aarne (Infantry General). Sam was 1st Lieutenant.
