On a gray, dusty day, Diana and her mother left their cottage in the garden and headed for the city. The cold had penetrated their bones, but their resolve was firm: they had to do something themselves to buy the things that Mehdi had promised to bring. Diana no longer wanted to wait for Mehdi’s empty promises. Her heart was in doubt, she no longer trusted Mehdi’s words.
They went to one of the crowded neighborhoods of the city and found work in a house that looked like it needed cleaning. Diana and her mother cleaned the house carefully and skillfully, sweeping every corner, while Diana’s mind was wandering to a thousand places. “If Mehdi really wanted to, he would bring the things himself, but now it’s time for us to do it ourselves,” she said to herself.

Hours later, when they were done, Diana went to the market with the money they had earned. In her heart, she hoped that they would be able to buy the things they wanted. At this moment, her heart was no longer dependent on Mehdi; she had decided to try for themselves, without relying on anyone’s promises.
Diana and her mother brought their purchases home and sat by the small fire in the hut. The new stove and the colorful rug they had bought filled the hut with warmth. Diana looked at her mother and said, “We did it ourselves, mother. We don’t need anyone anymore.”
At that moment, the sound of a motorbike could be heard in the distance. Mehdi arrived at the hut with a sad face. Seeing the new things, he slowly got off the motorbike and looked at Diana. “Diana, I couldn’t get the things… but now… now I see that you did it yourself.”
Diana said with a look devoid of any emotion: “Mehdi, we are no longer dependent on anyone. This time we have worked for our lives ourselves.”
Mehdi breathed heavily and lowered his head. He knew that he could no longer easily win Diana’s heart. Diana no longer needed empty promises and promises.
That day Diana and her mother were sitting in a warm and peaceful hut, where they had relied not on promises but on their own efforts and faith.
