I believe this song/melody comes out of the Civil War times; one can understand why! I read or learned that more soulful, sad songs came from that period than any other time.

Thanks for doing the last verse. Folks tend to leave it out. Very lovely rendition. Foster never got the financial recognition he deserved despite his music being sung and loved by everyone.
