History Matters Ltd
Приєднався 28 вер 2018
Since our formation in 2011, HM Ltd has had a huge amount of different performances ranging from school visits, medieval banquets, community events to populating loads of castles all over Scotland with a range of historical characters, to name but a few.
Our team are dedicated to bringing Scottish History to life in a fun and informative way and would sell their own grannies (for a couple of groats and a Haggis or two!) to get the chance to perform for anyone that wants to know more about this land that we love.
We really do love to make a present of the past, in any event.

The Story of the Rowan Tree
Переглядів 1,8 тис.3 роки тому
For thousands of years, Scottish seanchaithe (lore keepers and myth mongers) would use folklore to educate members of the tribe in how to collect in essential ingredients for food/medicine and magic potions. The berries of the Rowan tree are rich in Vitamin C and can be so powerful in the hands of the tribe's healers, that the berries can even stave off manflu!! However, how do you teach the we...

Join Eochaid (a.k.a. John) to hear about medieval farming, huge Bairns and war as a spearman in the King's army. Also, listen closely for the harsh parenting reality of being a medieval farmer Dad and the equivalent of crop rotation with your sons! Another great video from Ceilidh Dave productions.

The notorious Highwayman Patrick Fleming!
You’re a wonderful story teller. So, now I’ve found two of you. Thank you much, much, much! The Green Man and Cernunos are a part of me, as I grew up in the country and created my own spiritual world. Now, I know it was the oldest spirituality of mankind and I still live there in my mind. Now I know the name of it all Gaïa, and she does what she does. She give and she takes away to re form. Thanks again 🌲🌷🌱🪺🔥🌧️☃️🌬️🍒🍇🌽🌰🍯
Cernunnos is not a god of the wilds. That would be Irish Cian and Welsh Gwydion. Cernunnos is the lower emanation of *Bilios or related to old Irish Bíle. Cernunnos' mythos survives in many cultures, he is even in the Old Testament, as the Biblical figure Aaron and sometimes overlapping Moses. Yet, he is called Dearg Corra in the story Finn and the man in the tree and Gwythyr in Culhwch and Olwen. In the Táin Bó Cúailnge he becomes Fionnbheannach when he fights the Donn Cuailgne (the Celtic Odin god Finn in bull form) he dies from the Donn Cuailgne, yet he still "wins" as he remanifests as his higher self, thus the coming summer (Dearg Corra-Fionnbheannach and Bíle) triumphs while the winter half (Donn Cuailgne-Finn mac Cumhaill) perishes. This fight happens every Kalends of May according to Welsh and Roman sources.
There are no soft C's in Celtic laungages , such as Welsh . It's Kernunnos . And the Green Man pubs were not named after the village green keeper , I really hope that was a joke .
Wonderful!! Thank you so much
The horned god is present in very ancient depictions and present in all cultures/religions The green man also “The man that cut the green”?!Ajike right ?Despictions are numerous on churches in certain areas Amaxing that we still have storytellers though It should be encouraged
are pan, the horned god of wicca and cernunnos all the same? i heard some one saying they thought that pan was actually a perservation of helenic shiva worship along the silk road. i think some of that cross cultural polination is possible, like how the goddess asura from canaan all the way to japan was represented similiarly.
Enkidu was not slain. He was banished to The emerald isles and became known as Cernunnos.
Wonderful just wonderfully the told drew me right into the clearing and the pool xx❤
Amazing thank you
The Green Man, huh? I love his frozen peas.
That aint a wee dram lady!
Thanks!
I love this content! Thank you for posting.
Gosh! Such a shame it wasn't maintained.
a man that had true freedom, no so many are lucky enough to figuere out such a life style
🙏
I love this story and the bard was great.
he is no myth! sounds crazy but I did have an encounter while walking my dog, long story but yes its all true he has blue and green fire all around his face... he showed up with coyotes deer and I swear at one point he was a beast or bull as the eyes were huge till he turned half man half stag...
Coyotes are Native to North America. Can Celtic Gods appear outside of Europe? Probably.
@@okieoiogh8235 I'm not positive, but I don't know of boundaries that's been made by us in more recent times...
I am rather young in paganism, well exploring the Celtic path, so hearing your story now changes what I now think. Ik you may not care but for context I was raise Christian, left a church and joined another around 4 years later. Currently at a very strange place in time right now. But this experience you had sounds Really Scary I would imagine
The lesson of the story is as transcendental as the storyteller herself 😍🙌🏼
Need to add some context and depth to the character so that casual viewers can understand who Patrick Fleming was, what he did, how he lived his life, and why songs and tales about him have traveled through the centuries.
That was dope.
I think OP is having a crush on the Green Man prince. ;) It’s pretty cute
_"Cherry"-nunnos.._
Ashe and Great Harvest to you beautiful Queen. You are appreciated and respected and loved.
Very interesting story. Never heard it before but I've heard of Cernnunos.
I loved this! Hail Cernunnos 🦌
i love the tale of the green man.
Nice story. Well told. However Cernunnos is neither a character or a legend. He is a God. One of the original Gods. He has been called many names in many cultures, prayed to and venerated for 10's of thousands of years.
She's Welsh, of course she knows. But as all stories do, each region or country has its own tale or Cernunnos and The Green Man. The stag in the story, is Cernunnos. The Prince becomes the Green Man through the manipulation of Cernunnos to be taught a lesson in humility
They are all Enkidu
❤ this
That was wonderful!
Beautiful roundhouse artwork, center-pole & fire-pit. Warm, watching the flames dance about the room as u re-weave life-threads into these ancient tales. Very nicely done!
Sometimes I wonder if Rasputan was in touch with Cernunnos 🍀.
It's been a long since I got caught up in a story but this was amazing and you are a wonderful story teller.
Thank you my lady, I am now enlightened. Ironic and so circular . Both feet flat on.
Wow! Just amazing story and such story telling talent🌸
A true bard ! Mesmerised !! 💕💕
You are such an engaging storyteller! Thank you for keeping tradition alive!
Love this so much! Thank you :)
This is beautiful, keep on going!!
Bravo!!! I am going to clutch to this knife I found in the woods. Perhaps I will leave it for another once I have found my way.
Brilliant Thankyou
Can I retell this story? I'm in training to be a druid/shaman actually with Cernunnos as one of my deities, and I would love to tell this story to those who seek knowledge of him.
I’m a student of Cernunnos too. How goes your journey?
@@METALUNICORNLTD I live in the woods and I have a huge alter to Cernunnos.
This isn't a story of Cernunnos. You could add to this story that Cernunnos took the form of the white stag luring the prince to the water and removed his personal property. Thus, the prince learned to live in and respect Cernunnos' realm. Just a suggestion where you can add in information about Cernunnos. Wishing you the best in your training. Gaining knowledge is a joy that never ends.

❤💚Amazing!!! I absolutely love this story!!!❤💚
Wow. Amazing storytelling
hi i would like to know where this place is because i need to come here & if u do retreats
im in the US but i think i need to baptize here
Hi Sarah. This is an Iron Age roundhouse in Aberdeenshire at a place called Archaeolink pre-history park. If you're looking for it on the map, it's near Insch. Unfortunately, the centre had to shut down over a decade ago and everything is dilapidated. The roundhouse won't be there for much longer, which is why we wanted to use it for posterity. Thanks for the message and sorry we can't do a retreat at this amazing venue.
Great storytelling, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Interesting........Kali Mesukiel Aketeriel Mahakala Bala Bala Hehehe Capalatmika Kalabhairava
This is amazing!! Please do share more stories! ❤️❤️❤️
More to come!
This is some amazing story telling. Thank you. Maybe you should think about recording books for audible :)
That's a great idea!
I know I'm a whole year late but I love this idea! An ebook of original storytelling! 💜🌹🙏
@@HistoryMattersLtd Lovely to watch the stories in your incredible roundhouse. I'd love to have one on our wooded property in Michigan. I completely agree that you and your fellow storytellers should record your stories or have a UA-cam channel of the stories. Sending you and yours peace, love, and joyful moments.
