I need more vids like this 😭😭😭😭 pls
You are very clever
thanks! personally I like knitting with 2 strands , and I actually mix the 2 technics, alternating stranding AND marling especially if the 2 colors are contrasting but between the 2 I prefer marling, it makes a smoother transition. And when working in the round, I also like to use colorwork to "fade" the colors. it looks great too!
This is absolutely great!! Thank you so much!!!!
Yes!
Thank you let us ☺️. So helpful. I would like to see the video o reading Jp knitting charts too please.
Thank u so much for the explananation. ❤
That was most helpful, thanks so much. I do however have a slightly complicated Japanese pattern that I cant seem to work out (I am a very experienced knitter of 40 years, so its not that I cant knit!) the front section of the pattern that has short rows throughout. Im not sure how to proceed. Any chance you can help with this, thanks.
Cletus, I came across your channel by accident. I enjoy your honest pros and cons detailed account of your Flamingo knit sweater review. I only crochet. Do you crochet? If you do, I would love to watch your crochet videos. Have a wonderful day!
I have arthritis in several joints and knitting can aggravate my thumb pain. I have a TENS (trans-epidural nerve stimulation) device that is a great drug-free way to relive the pain.
Really great video answering my self made confusion.
👍
It would be great if you would create a glossary of the symbols used in the Japanese patterns. I have three books of fabulous patterns but they are incomplete as far as some of the symbols. For instance what action is indicated by / and or \ in a chart? Thanks!
Excellent!
Hi Cletus I bought a gorgeous suppose to be a Japanese pattern book ,to me surprise when I received the book it was mostly in Chinese. It like Greek to me, will you be willing to help? Thanks cheers.
You are a supered teacher. I got a few Japanese Knitting as well as crochet pattern book, It was like reading Greek to me. Boyyyy am I glad I found you not only I can understand your English so clearly. Now that is my next adventures. I guess since you read Chinese that helps understanding some of the Japanese character., Please keep your tutorial coming lot of Thanks
Why do I just found this now? This is so informative! Thank you!
This is so helpful. I own two Japanese knitting books: one that is full of intricate stitch patterns, and charts. The other is much smaller, and explains symbols and terminology. I feel confident that I could use these references to incorporate the stitch patterns into my projects. ❤
These concepts are so helpful for crochet too!! Thank you for this explanation 😊
extremely informative resource, thank you so much.
i racked my brain just to understand "1-1-4" and still confused😭😭
May I suggest that you slow down you very worthwhile information. There is so much packeted into very little time and it is hard to process it all. Thank toy for your content. I WILL LISTEN SEVERAL MORE TINES.
I love your color choices of this fantastic shawl , could you please how I can get those colors. Thanks in advance
Very helpful!!
i’m crocheting a button up for my long term boyfriend of almost 5 years for xmas this year ! have been told that this also applies to the “sweater curse” but i’m confident that he would wear it and appreciate it
Thank you, thank you! This is great, I've learned a lot.
Excellent and fun…how can that be? Cletus! I did the spit method for the first time and really liked it. I didn’t realize you can reduce the bulk. So it’s my new favorite! Better than all the rest and so are you. Happy Knitting.
Thank you for this Cletus! ❤
That’s an amazing haul! What’s your plan?
Thank you! I am healing from rotator cuff tendinitis through my amazing biokineticist. The pain is severe and I miss my knitting!
Ciao from Italy the pattern you found in magazine is on Ravelry the desiner is Vera Valimaki I Made it also!!! I think you know that
Definitely interested in Japanese chart reading, for knitting and crochet! ❤
I really enjoyed your video. I have been knitting since I was 4 years old; I am turning 60 in May '24 so I guess I have been crafting quite some time! I also suffer from fibromialgia so the pain when I knit is elevated slightly. The exercises given here were so useful except the final stretch which was beyond me but the thought gave me a chuckle anyway. Thank you.😄
I like the magic knot as I knit mostly children’s hats. But a couple of the other methods look intriguing. Will definitely be revisiting this video. Multiple times😊
Thank you. I’ve had to totally stop kmitting after I developed painful Bouchards nodes on two of my fingers on either hand. I would love to return to knitting but I just dont know how it would be possible. My OT said to knit for maximum 30 minutes but stop if it hurts, but it hurts straight away!!
Really useful info! Thank you!! Will you be doing a vid on how to read the charts?
Question… what if it’s a crochet sweater? Follow up question, what happens if you’ve already made your significant other a ginormous blanket that took hours everyday for 3 months? Does that like negate the curse?
Thank you!
Thank u so much for this!
I made one based on what you had to say. Your video gave me confidence to try. My finished project is stunning. Love your videos.
I always place like 8” off the new yarn under the old and start knitting. I weave in the new or old by placing the strand on top of the yarn I am knitting with. That way I don’t have to weave in any ends.
hairstylists stand all day using wrists shoulders back etc we always ends up at the drs office
Hi, I just discovered your very informative channel... I was hoping to find here a video about Japanese Knitting but sadly noticed you're not posting anymore...😢 I love knitting and bought my Japanese Knitting Bible. There are a few videos out there but they are very difficult to follow... Maybe you'll find the time to do some videos again. I would really appreciate it... Lots of greetings from Germany 👋
This channel would be helpful for you. m.youtube.com/@amuusejp
I loved this video - and love Stephen & Penelope. I started knitting again after a 20+ year break. Before that, I had been knitting for 20+ years. So much for the background story; I ordered the Botanic Shawl kit - and even though they say it is easy, I had to start that darned thing at least 15 times or more. It was going along fine but I made a mistake that I was unable to fix so I kept knitting. Now it looks pretty good - still working on it. Some of Stephen's techniques are things I've never heard of before so this is like learning to knit all over again. I applaud your work on that shawl - it is stunning. I'd like to make the Curvette or Cozy Corner - but now I'm tempted to make the one you feature here. Thanks.
This was cool!
You are fantastic! Thank you so much! You have no idea how much you have helped me with a Japanese pattern that I want to make for my pregnant daughter! Again… thank you! ❤
This video is so helpful! Thank you for putting this out for all of us.
Are you coming back
Cletus! I loved this video and can’t wait to knit my first Japanese designed pattern. I’d love for you to create a tutorial on how to read the charts- that’s so intimidating for me!
Damn Cletus you’re so handsome and smart and a knitter! Wow a true gem! Hugs from Provence, Adrien
