Hi! Yes - these little 30-day journals are easy to put together but are readily put to practical use. As a matter of fact, Nana K made this one intentionally to use as a month-long planning journal and note-taking journal for the month of December. The reason that people enjoy making these journals in the first place is due to the esthetics of the journal. If writing and journaling is a "thing" for you, then a special journal or a journal that has been embellished adds to the pleasure of writing. Some people find no pleasure in writing and journaling - so this is something that would not be high on their enjoyment list along with fancy feather pens or heavy cotton papers. 😊If you make a simple writing journal per month, you also wind up with an eclectic collection of the year in very interesting covers which also adds to the unique enjoyment of the practice. Every hobby and artistic genre has their "enthusiasts". People that love clay works may flip over a glazed platter that I may find interesting, but not enamored with and they, in turn, would not get giddy with excitement over a hand-blown glass pen like I do! We all have our favorite niches - and thank you for joining us to find out more about this one! 😃

I agree. It's hard to find good examples of repurposed journal items that aren't covered in flowers and lace.

The faux leather look is probably the most popular choice of cover when trying to establish a uni-sex journal. Agreed.

Hi, 60Sage! Ha - I'm afraid I listen to crazy music. But then again, who doesn't? Glad you like it. I try to keep it a little mixed up - sometimes not so adventurous.😉

You bring up a really important point, Frieda. As artisans, we tend to get cramped and cluttered, you know? The desk, the room, the canvas.... things tend to get compressed and cluttered - and in our head too! If I didn't have word puzzles and word games to get me out of my own head and the clutter... I don't know how I would decompress, lol. I love word games and word puzzles, particularly Scrabble. What fun! But it makes me think of things and in ways that go outside of my average "routine" way of thinking. It does wonders to level things back out like that so ideas can flow again easier instead of being bunched up, log-jammed, and cluttered! Thanks for bringing that up!! - nk

The pocket or envelope can be made bigger to hold more tea or different items such as a small aroma sachet, air freshener card, or small packet of bath crystals - the theme of the page can be changed to match the gift. Gift pages are great fun.

We like the contrast also - and it's also a break-away from the consistent "frilly" approach to junk journaling although we certainly like both styles. It's nice to shake it up. Hang on to that sewing tomato - nothing like the real thing! That's awesome.

My daughter pointed out the other day that the Halcyon Hotel in Miami was demolished not long after that postcard was sent. I didn't know that about the postcard till she looked it up. That adds another significant layer of value to that card for many reasons. We'll be selling this journal as a reference journal at the end of the #JunkJournalJuly2024 session so we'll have to be sure to include an information note about that postcard to the new owner!

Faintly, yes. When it is freshly dyed, it is pretty strong but it diminishes over time to almost nothing of a smell.
