Vex High Stakes Intake Prototype
Переглядів 19 тис.6 місяців тому
Another quick intake prototype that we developed. This design has the potential to descore rings from the mogos. We also planned to make a polycarbonate pressure hood to make sure the rings are secure.
Vex High Stakes plunger prototype

Our first prototype that we designed for this years challenge, we don’t know if we are going to build a bot around it yet as we are still testing other designs. This design can hold and release up to 2 donuts at a time.

Texas Region 3 semifinalist. We going to Worlds lets gooooo! Tell us how to make a better robot pls. Order 66 best first year team for sure. Cya at worlds.
The robot looks really good. Especially the mogo mech. Regards from 1022A
Congrats! Nice bot
You did an amazing job explaining how each part of your robot works! As a science and robotics teacher, this video was really well done in my opinion.
what size are your wheels? 2.75 or larger?
which new vex encoders??
How long are your c-channels that hold the third motor on top for the drivebase
How was the color of your allowed despite its color being red and that might mess up the color sensor?
Cause it’s Texas r3 and no one is running color sensors in r3 I’m pretty sure
well hello there scott
W bot? 5013X in dome?
bro did not have to flex like that

RED ROBOT
for the 2nd stage hooks, why dont you just add more hooks to intake faster?
Its more of the travel time from the bottom to the top takes a while
There's a risk for triple possession, its better to make your robot physically not be able to possess 3 rings at the same time
it is in fact illegal to sweep all 4. youre contacting all 4 rings in a concave section of the robot if you sweep them on the intake side of the doinker
Very dependent on the ref. As long as the rings don’t come into contact with the intake, it is considered a flat surface. That said, I have heard of teams getting warned/dq’ed for this.
@@chromaV5RC its definitely a hard call but its most likely that you just wanna be safe with it
It’s legal if it contacts only one face in the concavity
There is an official Q&A that deals with this case. Refer to Q&A 2182 @ClowdFPS
it isnt, as you are controlling it with a flat section of your robot. the right angle doesn't make it concave. if it was touching the sweeper and the intake then maybe but it wasnt.
how long are your standoffs for the hooks?
2 inches
red bot legal?
yea poly and shit can be red u just need to buy it
@ na isn’t it a G3 hazard
@@LaurenceChen886R r19, in this case his red poly counts as off the shelf plastic sheets and is legal.

First
Scott how did you manage to forget to plug your intake in for finals?
Still won 🔥 we’re too good 🥶
What's your thoughts on All Nations Community School?
first saw it on 62a, great robot!
It’s evolving 💀
i love order 66!
when i search up "meta over under robot" this comes up?
What are the tiny gray things that look like intake rollers?
They're called flexwheels
For high stakes I was gunna do this so can I have a tutorial? 🙏
Before anybody criticizes, remember that all of the rings are stacked when the game starts, so this will work obscenely well.
they are alternatively stacked lol
bro still had the wristband on
This idea ain’t gonna do so well for driver
the 2 motors is my only proble with this because your also going to need a dr4b to put this on and before you know it you have a two-motor drive train.
You can make them 5.5 watt motors
i assume you can just gear both sides to a singular motor. torque won't be a issue because it doesnt even take that much power to pick the rings up.
pto your db motors to ur intake problem solved
If we were to put this on our robot we would have 2 5.5 watt motors like we have in the video on the intake.,1 for rd4b and 6 for drive train.
@@5013X_VRC I don't know dr4b normally need two motors because of the weight couldn't you just link the two on the intake with a chain and then have two for your dr4b. I'm thinking of doing of doing a DR4B for next year but I was thinking of designing a passive intake or one that uses pistons.
Hi, my team was right next to you at worlds (5062f)
Are you able to descore with this
have you tested trying to descore from an actual mogo? is the mech strong enough to pull the ring out?
I found that if you spin just one side as you pull out you can descore, it’s not consistent but with a bit of tweaking I’m sure I could get it there.
@@5013X_VRCis this with or without holding down the base. If not than does it work while holding down the base?
@@wyattkfr7484 without
@@5013X_VRC could you try descoring while holding down the base?
Can I use this in my notebook?
Absolutely go right ahead. but site your source to look good for the judges. 👍
solid idea
Still got the worlds wristband on 🔥🔥😮💨😮💨
Do you still have it on
@@CaressingEmu24 I did but it broke off
@@CaressingEmu24 it broke 😢
Do you think a claw would be better
In most cases yes but the advantage of this is that you would be able to drop or pick up 1 at a time so this has the potential to be better.
@@5013X_VRC yeah that’s true and I think this could descore well
nah, continuous (roller) intakes are always better imo. touch it own it
@@questcstop stealing my ideas
You are everywhere lol
How heavy are the rings?
Remember, you have to push the rings onto the stake slightly. The tip of the stake is slightly larger than the inner diameter of the ring
If we use this design we would have in mounted on some sort of arm so after we drop it we would just lower the arm to push it on.
I think you dont even need the piston, you can use the tip of the stake to hit the inside of the mech and the plunger will open.
How does it put the rings into the goals
sadly, another intake game lmao
Nah you can’t drop the rings onto the goal they need to be pushed so I think plunger is meta
@@5013X_VRC that’s what i was thinking but intake will still reign superior with a bit of tweaking as it has more versatility and less complex moving parts
not an intake game
@@vasishtbatchu69 how u gonna score it on the neutral and alliance goals then
i think claw will take advantage since you need to descore
You can have a clamp behind it that goes around the circular portion of the plunger if that makes sense
I’d say it definitely beats an intake
in this year i think intake like tipping point will not take too much advantage than claw or plunger
Can always just have a dedicated descore mech like in RoundUp
Boy oh boy where do I even begin. Order 66… honey, my pookie bear. I have loved you ever since I first laid eyes on you. The way you drive into the goal and strike fear into your enemies eyes. Your silky smooth bowls, and those gorgeous descores. I would do anything for you. I wish it were possible to freeze time so I would never have to watch you retire. You had a rough childhood, but you never gave up hope. You are even amazing off the field, you're a great husband and father, sometimes I even call you dad. I forvever dread and weep, thinking of the day you will one day retire. I would sacrifice my own life it were the only thing that could put a smile on your beautiful face. You have given me so much joy, and heartbreak over the years. A tear still fell from my right eye when I watched you win your first ring in Houston, because deep down, my glorious king deserved it. I just wanted you to return home. Then allas, you did, my sweet baby boy came home and I rejoiced. 2024 was a hard year for us baby, but in 2025 you made history happen. You came back from 3-1 and I couldn't believe it. I was crying, bawling even, and I heard my glorious king exclaim these words, "Houston, THIS IS FOR YOU!" Not only have you changed VEX and the world forever, but you've eternally changed my world. And now you're getting older, but still the goat, my goat. I love you pookie bear, my glorious king, Order 66. 🥰❤️🫶🏽
Brought a tear to my eye 🥲
enough to make a grown man cry
this is the idea i has aswell
Plungers are so cool but I don't think they will he any more prominent this year than in tipping point.
I would disagree seeing as you can’t consistently drop rings onto the mogo as there is a bit of a cap so they will have to have something to push them on
@@5013X_VRC think this design would probably work better with hollow insides so it can go all the way down the stake to push it consistently but idk how tight the stakes are
@@6121FRobotics we thought of this aswell but this design was a bit easier to make so as our first prototype this is what we came up with
@@5013X_VRC blud doesnt know the strat
@@5013X_VRCthe cap is designed to be easy to put rings in but hard to take rings out it’s not wide enough to block the rings from falling in naturally also it’s rubber
Not too shabby -1239E from battle by the beach
Can u not use mecanum wheel?
we feel that mecanum wheels dont give us the pushing power we want and also they are just a little harder to fit.
@@5013X_VRC oh ok I don’t do vex so I was just wondering
@@jaydon738honestly, since this year's VEX game has a very quick pace, mechanum wheels are worse than normal or omni wheels.
The pneumatics wiring 😩
Next robot it gonna be 10x better trust
For your PTO i was wondering how you built the thing that goes around your gear to connect to your piston. Would be very helpful if you could explain.
we used lasercut polycarbonate, we made the design in onshape and make sure it worked before cutting it
womp womp

make your bot lighter and thinner
the old pneumatics solenoids and fittings are much lighter
@@1138B-NotAdi We are first year so we dont have access to older pnuematics, If you would like to donate we would graciously accept.
You're a first year team? When I was in my first year (spin up), I had a flimsy pushbot.
damn y’all salty asf about those two points
Just a lil bit, it never failed but the one time it did it actually matter, Difference between us getting our first trophy or not.
hmmm, the only advice i can give is to test ‘till failure, identify points of failure, eliminate them until you get consistency, and afterwards test in a suboptimal environment and repeat the process until you weed out everything that can go wrong. gl at worlds!
