So I Think it's a theory that turnabout revalosion was originally 2 episodes but then they realised they didn't have a case for Athena so they stuck both together and made turnabout storyteller.

When people start seeing the "3rd Case Syndrome" as a rule, it becomes the 3rd Case Bias.

If there's anything Winston can hold its that he's probably the CLEANEST prosecutor we've seen in the OG trilogy. Edgeworth, at least in trial 2, tries to buy time and manufactures witness testimonies (sure he's better now but he DID do that stuff). Manfred is Manfred, he does a lot of illegal stuff. Franziska isnt bad perse, but she has a WHIP. Godot (MAJOR T&T SPOILER BLOCK). While yes Winston does like to talk down to the defense, that's really it. He isn't one to forge evidence or withhold information. Even if he only went after rookies, respect for at least keeping it clean, at least compared to his brother Gaspen who ALSO makes it easy for himself but resorts to methods way worse than his brother, like when Gaspen tried to essentially get Phoenix KILLED alongside his defendant cause he went to Khurain because it was so easy to win there due to the DCA.

Imo apollo justice and dual destinies have a lot of issues, but also have a lot of value and bring a lot of depth to the series. As much as they deserve their criticisms, they were incredibly ballsy and ambitious and pushed the series forward in their own ways. Im currently on the last case of spirit of justice, and it's shaping up to be maybe my favorite AA game. Just all around incredibly tight writing, characters, and worldbuilding (the latter being something AA games haven't focused on as much before).

I think Turnabout Samurai being unconnected to Phoenix's story is good actually It being unconnected gets you to see how Phoenix acts his personal life isn't at stake. And in terms of story it is a good case to show Edgeworth that a case shouldn't be about his victory. Yes you could have changed its content, but in my opinion "filler" is a good place to develop the characters without rushing them from plot relevant incident to plot relevant incident

Essentially, as she saw it, Kokichi was doomed either way thanks to the poison, and if she allowed the poison to be what killed him that would make Kaito the blackened, whereas if she killed Kokichi directly before the poison did, she would be the blackened and Kaito would be safe.

I don't really get all the hype over Investigation 2's third case. Its only cool in theory, playing as Gregory Edgeworth and the time-switching, but actually playing the case feels very different. The ratio of gameplay to exposition is very low. Correct me if I'm misremembering but you're restricted to investigating only four small rooms, none of which really have anything interesting going on. Then you don't get any in-depth rebuttals until the very end of the case. It does tie into the later parts of the game, but to me it felt very shoehorned to tie it into the DL-6 incident, and I also feel like the setting of the whole case makes the DL-6 incident feel much less serious by association. The new characters arent especially strong either.

Not gonna lie, I love Kidnapped Turnabout and Lance is one of my favorite characters in the whole series. He's not evil, he's heavily misunderstood. He's a guy who never learned how to manage money, sadly presumably has no mother, and almost died to a man he had no involvement in his false conviction given he was only 11 at the time it happened. He had to fight to protect his own life and took that bastard down like a true badass! And then in his breakdown, he gets epic for a moment and shatters the handcuff chain, only to immediately cry after. I look at that and how he tried to bide his emotions most of the case and see those tears as genuine, because he truly didn't want to do it but realistically did have to to save his own life. And furthermore, there's some unjust hate on his character for being an alleged cheater, but though he has a letter of interest from Viola, there's NO proof he reciprocates any feelings! I rest my case. I love Lance because he's the first character I genuinely hated arresting because I cannot for the life of me side against him. It opened my eyes to how there might be actual people who go to jail for self-defense and seeing a villain I actually sided with made my love for the series much stronger.

The change with Tsurugi in chapter 4 was because he saw Yuki (the last person left who he trusted) prepare to commit murder, I think that combined with the fact that he was literally starving and faced with a unbeatable motif convinced him the only way to prevent people becoming criminals was for them to die.

I love how super danganronpa another 2 improves upon some of the flaws in the first game. (Not that I think the first game is bad).

Both seem to be coming at it from the angle that being abandoned by their mother was better than being kept by her--Iris, because it meant she got decent family at the temple (Sister Bikini) and Dahlia because she wouldn't want to be treated how Morgan treats Pearls. Dahlia says that "Morgan Fey heaped all of her broken hopes and dreams onto that poor child’s [Pearl's] back" due to her spiritual power.

I think it's because a double murder is really hard to pull of in Danganronpa. It's hard to give a legit reason for two murders in a killing game. It might also be because 3 is often filler to pad out the game. Trial 1 has a big twist that propels the game (Sayaka betrayed Makoto, Nagito tried to kill someone, Kaede died) and then Trial 2 coasts on that mostly with good trials. Three is a lull, double murders doesn't help. Trial 4 is mostly a ramp for trial 5 (Sakura's suicide, Nagito got information, Kokichi orchestrated Miu's death), and then 5 is the trial where antagonists go out with guns blazing (the mysterious person in THH, Nagito in 2, Kokichi in v3), and of course trial 6 is the fourth wall breaking conclusion. T

I have enjoyed all of the games so far. Maybe I just don't obsess over one game over another enough to hate the others?

i didn't thought this series had 3rd case syndrome at all, but i came here bc i REALLY hate 2-3 and... yeah i still hate this piece of hot garbage in an otherwise splendid game... The disease is just awful, Hyoko randomly being killed is not only stupid, but completely unecessary and out of character - and this one is by far the worst sin. No character involved in the crime was on character, it might as well just be the first case and nothing changed... it feels like all the time you spent with Mikan and Ibuki was completely pointless. Thats SPECIALLY wrong for Mikan because we saw her acting exactly like she always acts on Twilight Murder and comes right after it, it makes you feel insanely gaslighted as a player for using the information that you were given and playing the fckin game. I am aware they explain who Mikan's beloved is in the anime and its kinda obvious its Junko because of the ending, but i still hate when they explain a piece of media in another piece of media (trauma from FNAF)

Im ngl, the only reason I dont like Apollo Justice was because I just didn't like Apollo's voice, Phoenix's voice was super iconic to me. And that case with Klaviers Band? Yeah that made me so mad, having to replay that video over and over.

Honestly, pretty much all of the characters in Danganronpa are pretty well-done and interesting in my opinion, and everyone has their place. Even if I do wish that some of them were written a bit differently. Seeing so much thought and care devoted to one of the franchise's most neglected characters will always make me smile, so I really enjoyed your analysis. Sorry I'm so late to the party . . .

Well to be honest, only DR 1 and 2 had my favorite characters becoming the murderer. -Taeko Yasuhiro- Celestia in DR1, I like her since it looked like she's quite sharp and extremely helpful during trials. Mikan in DR2, -mentally unstable gullible hot nurse-, I mean, she's caring and also quite useful in trials due to her autopsies making it easier to know who the suspect it. To be honest, I learned who the suspect is based on her autopsies. While Korekiyo is also helpful in V3, he's creepy as hell.

This begs the question, why the hell would Sayaka write a dying message in English when she (and everyone else) speaks Japanese????

I don't mind filler cases, if only they're too long, but that's it. In fact I would love more filler cases if only just to see more "not murder" cases. (Just make them shorter). The way the games go, with so few cases Phoenix takes, I'm surprised he's able to keep the office running.

For me the worst case was rising from ashes. It was forced, unnecessary, artificially blocked progress, extremely irritating sidekick and defendant, cheesy evidence inspection system

I actually fully believe that if DRV3 left out the whole incest part of the reveal, it would actually be an average to above average case. Kiyo being a serial killer who did it to send his dead sister friends is a really interesting idea, but doing it with those undertones is massively off-putting.

One thing I love about Winston Payne is he's actually the cleanest prosecutor in the series. Even Edgeworth doesn't do things by the book the same way Payne does. In a way, Payne acts as the measuring stick of the corruption of the Ace Attorney law system; Payne shows that if prosecutors weren't given such overwhelming favoritism (to the point of defence attorneys apparently needing to find out the true culprit in any cases where their client isn't guilty) and don't cheat, the average case really would be a toss-up, as opposed to the 90% conviction rate that seems to occur in-universe.

Bro wat i love the 3rd case bruh like how complex it gets and how that make me suspect and kinda hate all the possible living characters out there . Also i agree with the guy their complex personality and sudden change and suprises make kinda shocked sometimes. Im really happy they make it a pattern cuz i can be excited when they gonna kill another one when nobody is looking 😂😅. But in my opinion... The drv3 3rd case was kinda ... Like i didn't really follow with the siblings y'know 💀👍✨ But overall i seriously love it the only people dying too quick and lack of character development was rantaro , ryoma , kaedead , the ultimate imposter, nekomaru, peko leon and ......idk bye 🤦🙋🙇

When I watched the anime I was so surprised and confused when celestia started fumbling it didn’t seem like her character would do it and she couldn’t even keep up the lie I thought she was smarter than that I was sick fr 😂😂

Fun idea: In the third chapter, Tsumugi would kill Angie and Korekiyo would kill Tenko. That would make Korekiyo a survivor and have conflict with Himiko, much like Hiyoko did with Fuyuhiko. Then, Tsumugi would come back in the 6th trial.
