    The speaker is preparing for a wedding and plans to wear a pair of white dress pants they acquired, which are slightly off-white and hard to match with other clothes. Despite not being particularly fashion-conscious, the speaker has recently received compliments on their casual outfits, which they find surprising. They also mention writing books where their main characters are more attentive to fashion, which contrasts with their own indifference to it.

    The speaker ordered a $650 box of cards for a new game they were playing, but the package got lost in the mail. After weeks of waiting, they contacted the game store, which discovered that the package was under investigation by UPS due to being lost. Despite the delay, the speaker remained patient and understanding, communicating kindly with the store's owners. Eventually, the package was found and is being sent out, two months later than expected. The store owners appreciated the speaker's positive attitude and patience, expressing their gratitude and noting that such customers make the world a better place.

    Focus on something with longer range ROI by getting bored of quickness -> enjoy something in the moment -> "being" vs asking questions. I watched this more than 3 times and I still can't figure out what you're talking about. Is this going to be on the exam?

      Going with the theme of the vid... if you're present where you are and enjoying the moment as it is, you're 'passed' the exam. ;)

    The portion of food eaten in tech countries that is fast food vs home cooked doesn't quite compare with the quantity of games on Steam because there is a limit to how much a human can consume in a day but there is no limit to how many games can be published. To compare them I think you'd need to compare the games people are actually playing.

      We've gotten a few requests to make longer clips too. If you see one titled with 'ARC' in it, those a few of the shorter one's put together, so if you watch every video you'll actually see everything twice already! We'll keep doing the daily-tiny-doses, but can easily make longer chunks compiled of them. Clips, Arcs, and full-length. Just because. 👍

    Whoa, I was just thinking about that exactly, but well, not that but like rather, I was pontificating a certain concept to myself in the mirror yesterday, and it really took my mental mind some dark places. One of the things you mentioned, or rather like, something that was vaguely implied by yall, either yall or something a character on this book I read as a kid, can't remember which one, but the quote was super inspiring; it was something like: about how when you're like lying in bed on a sunday but havnt like gotten completely up yet but, you know, you're "up" but not like up up... Im just realizing I havnt laid out the proper context for this, my apologies. So to understand the gist of what Im getting at here, to iron out potential ambiguity that might appear to be present, we have to go back a little bit. Back, or forward, its all just perspective, debatably. Actually, on that note, something needs to be stated, so people wont get the wrong idea. I am not, just here, to feed ideas to those who don't try to think, ya know? My wife was just telling me this the other day, God rest her soul. But to get back to the point, basically im just tryin to say, that yea i agree.

      'short version' Change (example: getting better at a skill) has no relation to knowledge, because we can know a lot more and still do something the same way, at the same skill level. Rather, change comes from how we 'are' when do the thing. Since 'how we are' can change without any new knowledge, that implies 'change' (getting better) doesn't require knowledge, but requires clarity. And with clarity, things like 'creativity' naturally comes to us too, a lot more and a lot easier.

    If ideas are like plants living on/in human nervous systems then some are harder to incorporate into the garden (of your mind) than others. Paradoxically, the there-are-perspectives-other-than-the-one-I-currently-have idea is especially hard to grow if you don't already have it growing?

'If' someone has that idea (that ideas are like plants in the system) then they'll run into paradoxes when trying to 'idea-their-way-out-of-idea-boxes.' How can they grow imaginary plants? How could they 'ever' have them 'already growing' when it's just an idea? Fortunately 'if' leaves both 'maybe' AND 'maybe not' as options. haha Life is fun with all of it's spiraling!

    So...each moment is like a unique snapshot? Like, "hey I'm in moment #58392. cool. Now I know what moment #58392 is like." Is the purpose of this way of framing time to eliminate craving or longing? Or at least, eliminating the pain of craving? I'm not sure I get the purpose or value of seeing time this way.

    • @theactofrealnonsense4192
      @theactofrealnonsense4192 2 роки тому

      It's a different angle of looking at something that is often not considered, and it's likely a lot more accurate to what 'time' actually is than the conventional way it's seen. Both in how time functions, and how we experience it. Experience of 'moments' isn't a stream from-one-to-the-next, but more of a complete resetting 'as one' to 'as another.' Anything that helps someone 'eliminate craving' or maybe more broadly, provides context to see their attachment to things, is definitely useful. And angles to look at things are definitely great context for exactly that. If looking at the value of seeing things this way, it's not a single direct effect, but more an overall adjustment-to-the-lens one might see world through. What might happen if somebody sees that they're transforming into a fresh and altogether new person, or version of themselves, every single moment? It's not really something to pin-point, as this could include realizing that old-habits are seen in a new light, whether to develop them more or reconsider their place in one's life, or it could simply give a person the 'space,' so to speak, to reflect on things before the 'burden' of their past/future come into play to confuse them, allowing clarity to bloom in any infinite number of ways. So you've got one of the best potentials covered there! With the elimination craving, etc. That's a direct effect of any kind of clarity of change. But it's a obviously little more abstract, and folds into every aspect of daily experience. The same way any new 'change of perception' ultimately does. :D

    Sounds a bit like judging the message based on the messenger. It reminds me of the self-reflection questions "What's useful here?" or "How can I benefit from this?" The goal is to redirect my creativity away from coming up with reasons to reject a message (and stay the same) and towards generating something life enriching (from which to grow).

    • @theactofrealnonsense4192
      @theactofrealnonsense4192 2 роки тому

      That's perfectly in-line with this yeah! I like that you called it 'creativity.' As that's where it inevitably leads, in a way, once the rest of the stuff is 'out' of the way. Remove confusion we throw upon a message, and we can finally actually get the message. You know what's up!

    It almost sounds like you had practiced leg awareness so much that it had become an automatic process. That's kind of a weird combination because normally when you repeat something (like eating spaghetti or driving) the process becomes automatic and outside of awareness but in this case it became automatic and inside awareness.

    When you say, "nothing is important" for whom is nothing important or for what purpose is nothing important? I'm missing how you got to the conclusion "nothing is important".

    • @theactofrealnonsense4192
      @theactofrealnonsense4192 2 роки тому

      The way you phrased your question is a perfect example of something I would have referenced to answer! It's also related to the reason we brought up 'nihilism' and it being dangerous to tell someone that 'nothing is important.' 1 - 'Whom' implies 'person' involved. And that directly means it's a subjective thing. This, by a technicality, means there is no inherent 'importance' in any thing without a person involved. A perspective, point of view, way of looking at something has to be in place for anything to be important if you're saying 'person is required for importance to exist' 2 - Something having 'purpose' implies a similar case of subjectivity, where its importance is entirely based on something else existing. Some other factor or condition. When that factor is removed, there is no importance. Again, implying that there is no thing inherently important. Importance, in both variations of your question, is therefore only imposed upon something 'by' something else. An idea placed between the one imposing the perception of 'it' being important, and 'it.' When saying 'nothing is important' when related to subjectivity this way, it's often looked at like it has no value, function, or place in existence. But everything does have an effect on everything else, so the subjectivity (imposed importance) doesn't mean it has no effect. tldr; if you take out the 'who' and the 'purpose' then everything still has a place and effect, but no importance, as that's a perception, not an actuality. Hopefully that makes sense. Words are fun! A side note, if you don't mind sharing, how did you find our channel?

    • @sabelch
      @sabelch 2 роки тому

      @@theactofrealnonsense4192 Okay, I *thiiiink* I get what you're saying: things just "are". To get from there to "importance" you need somebody with values and intentions and purpose (a perspective) to assign it. Kind of like the way Hume's guillotine separates "is" statements from "ought" statements. But then I guess if you take this idea all the way then even "thing" would require a perspective to make a distinction between "thing" and "not thing"...

      @theactofrealnonsense4192 2 роки тому

      @@sabelch Totally! Another fun way to take it all the way, is how people can ask questions like "What is the meaning of life?" Yet that's asking about something so far beyond the concept of 'purpose/meaning' that it legitimately 'means' nothing anymore. If that (and taking things all the way) hasn't been a topic in any of our videos yet, it likely will be one day, because that's definitely a fun one!

    I think I vaguely understand the distinction green-shirt-guy is making between earth-ness and solid-ness and how that is similar to at-work-ness and flow vs frenetic. But what I'm not getting is what the significance of the distinction is.

    • @theactofrealnonsense4192
      @theactofrealnonsense4192 2 роки тому

      This video definitely doesn't make that clear at all, so that's a good point to bring up! The papers in front of us are from a story we're working on, and you probably noticed already that after our first few videos, we stopped talking about the stories directly. For the reason you just mentioned - it's confusing, among other things, and the significance isn't clear without context outside the story. Some examples we'd bring up if discussing it today... If you were playing music, then solo-practice on a technique would have a completely different vibe/aim/energy/development/cycle/etc (or as we say in this video, 'quality') than when performing on stage in front of a crowd. This is likely clear by this example alone, but... If you were designing something, whether it's a card for a board-game or a logo for a start-up company, there's a difference in vibe/etc (quality) between the 'mock-up-ideas-fast' phase compared to the 'fine-tune-to-print' phase. If you play sports, or write, or do construction, there's a difference between the training vs the game, the drafting vs the editing, the planning vs the building. The significance, or relevance, of what we went into, is in two things. 1 - That difference is usually discussed in other ways, but it's really about qualities. It's a 'qualitative' change in the activity. You'd still play guitar in both practice and performance, or put words on paper in both drafts and edits, so what's happening with the 'action' is akin to changing the qualities of an object when 'magnetizing' it. It's the same 'object/action' at every level, but the quality throughout it is entirely different from the inside-out and all the way through at every level. 2 - This 'qualitative change' is also an aspect in the way people 'approach' what they're doing. The vibe/aim/energy/development/cycle is a fully-encompassing 'presence' and 'state-of-being' in each moment of any action taking place, because it's something within the 'way a person is' during those activities. As with the examples (including the one in the video) 'how one is' while working at a bakery is very different from the 'work one does' while there. In that case, it's just a potentially useful terminology we're bringing up. tl;dr Qualitative change is easy to see in material objects and in forces applied at a physical level. If playing a guitar, it's a 'solid' instrument with 'loose' strings, plucking 'hard' or 'soft' to make 'sharp' or 'smooth' sound. Those are all 'earthy' qualities by function - fine, loose, firm, solid, etc. And at the level of a person's state-of-being, that same 'qualitative change' is a really fun way to look at the difference between things like 'precision-focus' vs 'loose-brainstorming' too. Qualities (elements and their attributes) are a fundamental and effective aspect of nature. So saying 'be more like a fine loose powder' could easily and fluently be a way of saying 'lighten up and mess around more' in some languages and cultures somewhere. It's fitting and accurate despite currently unconventional to most of the world's standard lexicon. So if nothing else, it's a fun thing to consider! Hopefully that all made sense. Thanks for bringing it up. This is helpful for us! edit: The story we're discussing in the video uses this terminology of Qualities in the 'magic' system, so to speak. Just to give an idea of why we're talking about it at all. We'll do our best to include direct context for clarity from here on!

    • @sabelch
      @sabelch 2 роки тому

      @@theactofrealnonsense4192 It sounds like you're maybe saying that the significance is simply in noting that one's moment-to-moment subjective experience can have a quality to it? By acknowledging its existence then you can observe it, play with it, maybe change it? Reminds me a bit of Eugene Gendlin's concept of a "felt sense in the body" as well as "submodalities" from neurolinguistic programming.

    • @theactofrealnonsense4192
      @theactofrealnonsense4192 2 роки тому

      @@sabelch That's it! Though it might be more accurate if you removed the 'can' part. As technically, every moment a person is alive, what is being experienced by them 'is' the quality of their life. In other words, the 'felt sense in the body' is feeling the attribute of the fundamental building-blocks of all things. Meaning, feeling the body 'is' feeling the qualitative state of oneself. Eat spicy foods, and the mind/body interaction carries/is the feel (attribute sensed) of heat. The same goes for 'pumped up' emotions, whether excitement or anger, that involve a lot of energy-exertion. That, within the framework of the mind and body, will be 'felt' as heat. Heat = the attribute of fire. The quality and the attribute of its form that we experience 'with' its presence. It's hard (or impossible) to observe something like anxiety, or grief, or regret, directly and objectively. But the qualitative state of oneself at the level of physical/mental interaction is something that will always be present when and as anything else (like 'emotions' or 'spicy foods') comes or goes. So yes! To feel what is taking place with oneself at a qualitative level is directly going to allow one to observe (understand), play with (become balanced and develop clarity with), and change (it will naturally change on its own, as everything always does, but one can allow it to do so without the attachment that makes this a problem), and the way a person experiences life becomes clear and understood by them. And all with simply the acknowledgement of the qualities universally innate in a human's experience of their own life that is happening the entire time they're alive!
