Polaris Sportsman missing output shaft! Maybe @TitaniummanGarage would know?
Переглядів 69Рік тому
1998 Polaris Sportsman 500 is missing output shaft for rear brakes. I’m looking to find out if I can add the shaft to restore the rear brakes. It appears that Polaris may have used the same casting for different configurations. Has anyone else seen this? Looking for info / advise.

Wonder why Norwood doesn't automatically include the oil drain kit when you buy one, or at least recommend it during the sales process. I just bought one and they didn't mention it

I'm pretty optimistic that I could File that blade back to a usable condition in the application it was being used for. I call that quality basement with vise meditation. some may say waste of time. but I'm used to putting sharp points and edges on all kinds of "things" if it turned out to be too hard for a file, I always have the dremil and other rotary devises yielding abrasive accessories.

I had a similar experience my first maintenance on an HD36. Oil all over the place, but not knowing I needed the kit and needing to get the sawmill up and running, I replaced the oil without adding the kit, dooming myself to repeat the experience at the next oil change, as well. My "hillbilly" solution to removing the oil filter was to hammer the shank of a screwdriver through the metal casing of the oil filter and lever it off. I am wondering whether the oil drain kit would work with that larger filter??? Your comment about the price of the kit compared to the price of the mill makes me wonder if Norwood couldn't just throw a kit in with every mill.

You can't buy the air filter from anyone other than norwood. You can't buy the sharpening wheel except from norwood. They gouge the money out of your wallet as well for these parts . But they will tell you that you can buy these parts elsewhere. They lie to make the sale.

Very nice video. A tip might be not to shake the old air filter above the air intake to the carburetor. Walk a bit from there, that's why you have an air filter. My opinion.

I'll do a review video at some point. With the board return on there it's a back saver as well. I had a customer recently that placed a trailer right behind the mill and the boards would come right off onto it. If I didn't have to stand up to see the scale all the time I would just put a chair behind the mill to operate. Once I get the new controller with setworks I will be on a chair. It will make it a lot easier to do a 10 or 12 hour day of milling. If you buy it you will not regret it.

Thanks Dave. I agree with the maintenance or lack of. I try to keep on top of it. The problem becomes that you have a choice, dirty hands with sawdust or dirty hands with oil and I think we all choose sawdust! Followed all your videos while waiting on delivery of my saw last year. You were a big help. Need a new one going over the frame - lots of guys having trouble with ‘bowing’ and I believe a lot of it user user error. Not sure what guys are doing wrong but I’ll stand behind Norwood any day on the design. Cheers - Jon
