    This is such a valuable video! I recently made up my mind to get my next bike, but I've been stuck in the research phase. The klr was waffling near the top my shortlist, but I couldn't pull the trigger; until watching this video. Thank you! Of all the hours and hours I've spent researching, it was this video that made up my mind. I think it's the joy in your voice...you can really hear how stoked you are. I'm happy for you man. I know my next bike will be a klr.

    I’ve owned several motorcycles in my life, I’ve rode since I couldn’t touch the ground very well. My 03 KLR is somehow my favorite bike and I’m not sure why. There’s something about it it’s very simple and makes riding fun again for me. I told my wife I like my truck but I love my bike.

    I’m 63 and still riding a 91 KLR and loving it. I agree with the funky graphics, mine’s blue and white which looks great, but the pink and lime accents not so sure about. That was the rage back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. I’ll probably keep riding this till I can’t ride anymore. Funny thing is that you mentioned people leaving Harley and buying KLR’s, I have an Electra Glide that I’ve had 18 years that seldom gets ridden due to the KLR. this is my go to bike lately.

    just getting my motorcycle license & looking for my first bike. i’m a bigger guy around 6’6” and my uncle recommended that i buy his vtx 1300, because of the size & so that i can grow into it a little bit. what do you think? any concerns for a new rider or should i just go for it?

    • @nickandmotorcycletime5246
      @nickandmotorcycletime5246 6 місяців тому

      Honestly I would just go for it. Your size might even warrant finding some forward controls and highway pegs. I just did the Goheen Cycles Forward Controls and it added 3 inches for my legs to stretch out. I'm 5 '11 but long legs and it helped a bit, but I want highway pegs for cruising long distances. The bike can be forgiving but could also get you into trouble like any other bike. As long as you respect that it can crush you pretty quick if you lose control since it weighs 640lbs. But take your time and you'll love it. They are insanely reliable bikes, some people getting over 200 000 miles! which is nuts. Easy to work on and maintain, I say go for it man. Did you remove the oil screen when you had the clutch cover off? I checked the oil screen on my 2007 KLR650 while fixing a leaking water pump seal and the oil screen was full of metal debris and part of the Doohickey spring. When I bought the bike, the guy said the Doohickey was done, which it was but it must have been bad when it was replaced. I just picked up another 2007 KLR with 3k miles and doing the Doo as soon as it gets here, so this engine doesn't end up like my last one.

      Yeah I checked and emptied the screen. Nothing at all in it which makes me think everything must have gone out in the oil years prior. Bike ran great regardless until I checked the doo out and was concerned I had to locate some metal. Overall bike still runs great.
