I have a passion for riding motorcycles and creating. This channel is an outlet to ride different bikes, talking about life, and bringing you along for the ride. There will be adventures, misfortune, and repairs at some point, these are inevitable but, thats what life is all about.
Come overly appreciate life on my VTX 1300.

A quick ride where I talk about the one thing the MT07 lacks for me, and why buying a brand new motorcycle was a bad idea for me.

This is such a valuable video! I recently made up my mind to get my next bike, but I've been stuck in the research phase. The klr was waffling near the top my shortlist, but I couldn't pull the trigger; until watching this video. Thank you! Of all the hours and hours I've spent researching, it was this video that made up my mind. I think it's the joy in your voice...you can really hear how stoked you are. I'm happy for you man. I know my next bike will be a klr.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for stopping by man!
I’ve owned several motorcycles in my life, I’ve rode since I couldn’t touch the ground very well. My 03 KLR is somehow my favorite bike and I’m not sure why. There’s something about it it’s very simple and makes riding fun again for me. I told my wife I like my truck but I love my bike.
Only a third... it's a good start... and yes, it's free money:) Enjoy the ride!!
Four months ago I bought an 07 1300R VTX. I had a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500. I like my Honda better. Haven't had a Honda since the 1960s.
That's what I like...no faring, no speakers, just cruising and enjoying the engine rumble!
Thats whats its all about man! Its one of the few times with just you being present in a moment!
Yes. Buy a brand new one so you know exactly what you have. You could get lucky with a secondhand one but better off with a new one. KLR 650s 2023 owner
Curious to know what kind of work you did to this bike over the time that you’ve had it. I’ve been looking at one and really love your point of view on this bike.
I only painted it to be honest, it came with pod filters on it and was chopped a bit. It never let me down, and was a great bike. I wish I never sold it.
I got this 06 looks like yours as my first motorcycle I have a windshield and the hand bar bag, as well as tank bag. I feel like it was fate that bought me to the bike
You still gonna post more?
Nice, which eliminator kit did you use?
Nice. What exhaust did you get?
Makes me wanna try one one day!
You live in a beautiful place my friend.
One of the best bikes on the road by far! Love my 2003 with only 10k miles that I bought last year in an online auction.
Yeah dude my Gen 1 feels like it’s gonna fall apart at any moment 😂 Most of them live a severely abusive life. A little maintenance and attention goes a long way!
That's a beautiful Gen 1, looks like you drove it out of the showroom! I'd change everything on it of course. But that's the great thing about the KLR, have it your way. A world of farkles is open to you, tons of aftermarket support. Or, buy it and ride it bone stock...
Awesome Video man! I just picked up an 82 kz 550 and was wondering if you had a digital manual or had a good recommendation on where to get one!
Thankyou

i have a question. where i can buy bike like that and transport it in Georgia (country)
That is a greaty question! I am not sure. You could import it from Asia maybe? Sorry, hope that helps.
@@nickandmotorcycletime5246 Thank you,i just from Georgia (country) and no one selling this motorcycle. Thank you again!
@@nickandmotorcycletime5246 and i have a last question. cycletrander is a good site to order online?
@@nickandmotorcycletime5246 And last question is sites CycleTrader and SMG sites good to buy and transport in georgia?
No! Don’t mess with those plastics! 😭 The stock look is way better than painting. Especially plastics in that good of condition.
Came for the bike, stayed for the comedy. Subbed.... and not because you told me 😅
I own a 07 Honda VTX 1300 r, with Vance& Hines exhaust, great bike.
Use a metal polish on the wheels and that make them stand out!.
You still rockin it? What year?
I never knew I'd like the KLR as much as i do. I have a little XT250 which i love as well.
I’m 63 and still riding a 91 KLR and loving it. I agree with the funky graphics, mine’s blue and white which looks great, but the pink and lime accents not so sure about. That was the rage back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. I’ll probably keep riding this till I can’t ride anymore. Funny thing is that you mentioned people leaving Harley and buying KLR’s, I have an Electra Glide that I’ve had 18 years that seldom gets ridden due to the KLR. this is my go to bike lately.
Nice! I love the older Gen 1’s. Those bikes are the true indestructible ones, built in Japan. I have another 2004 now I’ve been modifying and love it. They are so comfy and easy to ride and care free, it’s hard to beat. Ride safe!
@@nickandmotorcycletime5246 Weird people make such a big deal about the Doohickey but I've barely heard of anyone actually having issues with it
Yes...
You know it.
i LOVE my 1800 but the sound of the 1300 is just miles better imo.
Yeah? I've always wanted to try out an 1800. They seem insane. This one makes me smile though and is super fun to ride.
im about to buy my dads 08 as my first bike and i cannot tell you how excited I am. just have to get my msf course finished
Right on! Be careful and enjoy the ride man. They are great bikes, super comfy and well equipped for adventure. I just picked up an 04 after selling the one in the video last year. Now I am making it a adventure machine. Ride safe!
just getting my motorcycle license & looking for my first bike. i’m a bigger guy around 6’6” and my uncle recommended that i buy his vtx 1300, because of the size & so that i can grow into it a little bit. what do you think? any concerns for a new rider or should i just go for it?
Honestly I would just go for it. Your size might even warrant finding some forward controls and highway pegs. I just did the Goheen Cycles Forward Controls and it added 3 inches for my legs to stretch out. I'm 5 '11 but long legs and it helped a bit, but I want highway pegs for cruising long distances. The bike can be forgiving but could also get you into trouble like any other bike. As long as you respect that it can crush you pretty quick if you lose control since it weighs 640lbs. But take your time and you'll love it. They are insanely reliable bikes, some people getting over 200 000 miles! which is nuts. Easy to work on and maintain, I say go for it man. Let me know what you get!
@@nickandmotorcycletime5246Sweet man, that’s just what I wanted to hear. Set to check out the bike on Saturday and will pull the trigger after a quick test ride. I’ll report back! Thanks for the insight big dawg!!
@@nickandmotorcycletime5246 Picked up the bike last weekend for $2500 bucks, has about 20k miles on it. Thing is badass man. Totally manageable and forward controls were already installed on the bike. Been having a good time riding around the last week. Thanks again for the help deciding man, think this was a great choice for me.
@@doctorgert Nice man! Thats a steal of a deal for sure. And thats insanely low mileage for these bikes. Enjoy it man, and go on some epic adventures!
been riding dirtbikes all my life and have a 450 right now, do you think an mt-07 is too much for a first streetbike? pretty calm rider who likes to go fast or wheelie sometimes.
No way, you’re good to go! I have only been riding for 4 years and it’s a very approachable bike. I think you’ll be better than most of us already haha. I slowly became more bored of the bike though to be honest, I ended up selling it for way more than I bought it for. Getting into adventure riding now. Hope this helps!
@@nickandmotorcycletime5246 good to know thanks ! I plan to just ride locally for the most part and don’t need to much power I just love the sound and look , and the adventure bikes are awesome for sure I could see myself getting one some day
@@roadkill44mu yeah, it’s the best sounding bike out there I think. That whole experience is wicked, the feedback riding it is awesome. You’ll have a blast. Yeah, I’ve ridden most of the roads I can around me and find I want to go on huge adventures now more then putting around town.
@@nickandmotorcycletime5246 I almost got an MT-07 as my first bike, but I immediately was thinking of putting bags, handguards, and a windscreen on it and realized it'd be much more cost effective to get a bike that already had all of those things. So, I ended up getting a used V Strom 650 XT Adventure and boy.. I sure am pleased with it. But I gotta say, those MT-07's (to me at least) are some of the best looking and sounding motorcycles around, and I can only imagine how much fun 10 extra horses with 100 lbs less weight must feel. Ride safe out there!
@@anthonyfigueras4805 Noice! V-Strom will offer you more fun through experiences and trips and stuff. I liked this bike but I got bored after a short time, and I ended up getting a super modded KLR 650 to do off roading and camping trips. Some bikes are fun but the fun and cool factor wears off. But you only learn that through getting one. I want a nice light ADV bike now, so im looking for a KTM 500 exc that I can maintain and ride everywhere. But I thought of a V-Strom for a bit, better for long highway rides for sure. I settled on the cheap cheap KLR, its just a bit more interesting on long highway rides haha. Ride safe!
i have the 2003 klr, now at 58,000 km, i don't think the doohickey was ever done and still runs great and i drive it hard :D
To slow for the road and to heavy for the dirt . I have mine
I’ve had my Gen 3 for about 2 years and wish I bought one 30 years ago. For people that get the KLR thing they usually cant articulate to other people or even themselves why they love it so much. I have zero plans getting rid of mine. Aloha 🍍
I feel this way on a regular basis when explaining the bike I have haha. Well put. Ride safe man!
Proud to say the one person was me🤣 hello, fellow KLR owner.
You sir are the real mvp.
Good ol Canadian roads, been so long since it was paved the centre lines barely visible lol
Yeah... New Brunswick is known for some of the worst roads too. I swear daily in my car trying to not ruin it driving over some of them. Thats why you need a good suspension bike haha.
@@nickandmotorcycletime5246 for sure, i just bought a 05, and im one province over in Nova Scotia. Been a little better recently but theres still lots of roads that have potholes the half the width of the road
@@Saeloft nice man! Maritimes! I plan on taking a klr to the Cabot trail if you ever wanna join.
@@nickandmotorcycletime5246 could be a plan. I still have to get my license, havent driven a bike since i was a teenager lol. The bikes at a backyard mechanic atm, for a carb clean, but the fuckers taking 4 years to do it, so im currently planning to go pick it back up, and just do it myself
@@Saeloft that is the way with these for sure. I’ve just been learning as I go.
I freaking love this bike, I got a 2023 one. Despite of being my first bike, I couldn’t resist on purchasing it. The leaning course still amazing me, it’s all about the rider. Every little progress still count. Ty for sharing ✌️
Congrats man! It’s a great bike. I sold mine a few weeks ago for an absurd amount to couldn’t say no. Ride safe!
What pipes do you have on your VTX?
I believe they are called Hard Chrome. I got them with the bike, and my brother says they are Hard Chrome pipes, I’m not sure they make these exact ones but they have similar ones that are a bit longer. Good price and sound great!
Nice video dude thanks for making it! Debating between this one and KTM Duke 790, im torn because as it seems like the MT07 is more reliable but the ktm has better tech, power and torque hm 😂
Haha that’s why I’m here man! Honestly I would go with the Yamaha. KTM is nice but the service intervals and risk or valve adjustments and stuff isn’t worth it to me just yet. Maybe later when I have lots of extra cash laying around. These engines are absolutely bulletproof.
@@nickandmotorcycletime5246 yeah this is the impression ive gotten haha, thanks for the reply!
@@marcusbengtsson501 For sure man! You should find a used MT07 and see if you even like it. Less commitment, New bikes lose 30% of there value as soon as you leave the dealership.
I have this same bike, though its the standard not the LTD version, and I absolutely love it. So simple, raw, nimble and easy to ride and work on. The only downside of this bike are the TK carbs which make the bike very cold blooded. Once you get em all dialed in this bike is a real treat and has plenty of USABLE power. I hate dudes that brag about bigger CC bikes with 100+hp, like okay dude have fun either using only 10% of your bikes power or running from the police. I'm sure they'll be glad they have all that power when they're lane splitting in traffic all the time lol.
Amen! Right on man. You’re so right in all those areas. I had to sell it last summer and I’m missing it right now, it was my all around bike I didn’t mind riding first thing in the spring. Now I’m waiting for brake parts for my vtx. Wish I kept it!
I went from the '96 1100 Shadow, which is a four speed and now with my 1300 VTX, I forget some times to shift into 5th. Th difference between 4th and 5th is not much, so I don't notice the engine rpms much.
Yeah? How do you like the VTX in comparison?
Why the neutral light is on while you're cursing?
That’s the high beam light. I always ride with them on to make people see me and not kill me haha.
Did swap the stock handlebars? If so what bars did you put on it? Looking to get some wider bars for my mt07
NB to AK would be awesome. I did ON to BC a while ago and hope to ride another epic ride again sometime. Go4it!
Good for you! That’s a biggie for sure. Yeah, I’m seeking a large odyssey. Once I find the bike to do it on.
Still for sale ?
I ended up keeping it! Sold all my other bikes except for this one. Currently fixing a few things on it and maybe will sell it in awhile. Fun bike!
@@nickandmotorcycletime5246 let me know if you wanna sell it
Love that keychain note
Haha! Always wise to remind myself death is real.
just bought a vtx 1300 c yesterday. looks and sounds amazing
Nice!! Yeah, there is a lot to be appreciated. I didn’t realize how much it would grow on me. I was planning to flip it but slowly fixing a few things hear and there loving it.
Did you remove the oil screen when you had the clutch cover off? I checked the oil screen on my 2007 KLR650 while fixing a leaking water pump seal and the oil screen was full of metal debris and part of the Doohickey spring. When I bought the bike, the guy said the Doohickey was done, which it was but it must have been bad when it was replaced. I just picked up another 2007 KLR with 3k miles and doing the Doo as soon as it gets here, so this engine doesn't end up like my last one.
Yeah I checked and emptied the screen. Nothing at all in it which makes me think everything must have gone out in the oil years prior. Bike ran great regardless until I checked the doo out and was concerned I had to locate some metal. Overall bike still runs great.
