I’ve been doing dog walk behind me since 2018 (hence Dog Walk Rehab). Ive done it with a thousand+ shelter dogs in Houston. I use it especially with last chance dogs, mostly dog/human aggression cases. I’ve never used anything but a slip with thousands of dogs and I use almost entirely energy/body language and sound. Brandon Fouche was who first taught the method to me, with UA-cam videos. Major game changer!

@ That’s what I told the managers I worked for before. I told them they should’t put one handler to take care of so many dogs alone as that is putting dogs and the coach high risk of getting hurt, but they didn’t listen to me and I ended up having a huge laceration on the back of my hand while breaking up one fight on the top of another.

Wish this would work with my dog. After a month of trying this exact same thing, I was torn up and bloody. My male, Tucker, is over 130 pounds of Great Dane, mostly fat from having to stay in because I can’t have him outside anywhere near another dog. He wants to kill, and I cannot control him. He has pulled me down even when I use my most vicious alpha voice and say NO! - it doesn’t help. I’ve tried to be very calm and reassure him and give him treats when he encounters another dog too. I keep trying different things and nothing seems to work. I’m doing something wrong. It makes me sad because I rescued him so that I would have a walking partner and we are both in desperate need of exercise. He’s 10 years old and should’ve calm down a long time ago, but I’ve just had him about a year. His former owner surrendered him to a vet for euthanasia after a bad dogfight, which I’m sure he started. Thankfully, that vet turned him over to the Humane Society after he had healed and they adopted him out to me saying he was friendly with other dogs, but just not with big dogs. Not true. Don’t know what happened to him to make him this way, but not the typical Dane. I obviously need professional help. Not like too many Danes I’ve had before, although I had another reactive one before this. Again, he was a rescue.

I don't really agree tbh. Patience and learning to wait has been SO important for my german shepherd, especially because she's extremely likely to just do whatever the hell she wants if not held accountable. Sure, maybe it encourages some kind of ravenous eating craze but lets be real, that's unrealistic unless your dog is out fighting for food. I feel like a dog is FAR more likely to want to wolf down all its food, if it's territorial over it. If my dog has to "ask" me first, then she knows she's secure and she doesn't have to rush because nobody is going to rob her, she eats far more politely over what she's had to wait for. On the other hand, the other dog (not mine) in the house that wasn't taught to wait, will wolf down and rush to grab food and act a mess over it, instead of being taught patience. Every dog is different tho obviously, and maybe the wait command could be worse for some dogs, but it just seems too effective a tool to not use. That connection seems too important to drop, and maybe you could hand feed your dog every single time, but that teaches nothing about when food hits the floor? A mix of everything! Also, puzzle and slow feeders aren't even really just used for slowing dogs down, but for otherwise enrichment! My dog gets a swap around of puzzles and training for food, hand or thrown on the floor or just anything and everything, because versatility is important too! Sorry for the extra long comment LOL

Some people expect animals to communicate like we do, but that’s ridiculous. I have a big male cat who helped me foster 42 neonate kittens (bottle babies) from the shelter. He adores kittens & is able to communicate in a way a human can’t. Like an older kitten was getting aggressive while playing (kinda like this but more extreme), so he grabbed it by the neck & pinned it to the floor, until it calmed down, then he released it with no injury whatsoever. My husband was about to stop him, but I told him, “Wait! Just watch.” Dogs & cats, who are raised by only humans from birth, have a higher likelihood of biting, clawing or just overall “playing too rough”, because they didn’t get proper correction from an older animal during formative development. This kind of correction is invaluable, which is why I allowed it.

Jesus Christ bro. My heart was in my THROAT, through most of that vid. For a sec I though you were gonna say your own personal doggo was killed in a fight or something. You were seriously scaring the SHIT out of me! So RELIEVED to hear the setup & turnaround. Nicely played bro. Nicely played... This COMIC relief was much NEEDED as I've been watching some pretty BRUTAL dog fight clips & instructional vids over the last few days to try & DESENSITIZE myself as best as I possibly can to try & psychologically prepare & EDUCATE myself for the worst outcome imaginable, in order to keep a cool head & best PROTECT my Mini Cavoodle, should my nightmare scenario ever emerge. Gotta say, while the instructional stuff about reading dog body language & breaking the bite of a very powerful dog has been INVALUABLE, psychologically it's NOT fricken working! I HATE watching these horrendous clips, & it STRESSES the f*ck out me - & I have a Behavioural Science degree! Don't worry tho, ANYTHING that's orchestrating the encounter, gratuitous or glorifying such horrible encounters, I report IMMEDIATELY to YT.

GREAT explanation bro. Simple, practical, & thorough! My GREATEST fear in life, by far, is that I'll need to do this one day to save my incredibly sweet 2yo Cavoodle (aka Cavapoo). I absolutely adore him & WILL risk my life to protect him if I have to, but hope that I'll NEVER be put in that situation! Problem is, I've seen some horrifying clips of 2 or more dogs simultaneously latching onto 1 dog. What is the best course of action here if you are ALONE, when you are most certainly NOT prepared to just simply standby helplessly, assuming of course that you never had the chance to flee or seek protection behind a barrier of some sort in the 1st place?

This is not an idea of what I want for my dog if left at daycare. Training maybe if they don't have ANY SOCIALIZING experience but if my dog were to go to a DAYCARE I'd want them to play, interact with friendly dogs, be happy, relaxed and having a good time. Quiet time for mine is after activities, playing, chasing squirrels, wrestling, zoomies, tag etc... then everyone relaxing in their own 5×5 kennel with cot for cool down, feeding or snack and nap while I also nap.
