Can you have more than 5 monsters in the extra deck ?

i actually do hand a Q: ran into a weird situation. i play orcust my opponent played rokket. i had dingirsu in grave, and he xyz into dingirsu. i had toggle on auto, so i must have responded to effect, and summoned my dingirsu. chain resolved and he sends my dingirsu to grave, and i never got the chance to select an effect of my dingirsu. what happened? i thought i'd get my effect as i thought chain link 2 summon would resolve my summon.
