Love this film to bits. Very iconic, comedic, memorable but with a deep rooted message in it. That is why people everywhere still talk about it. Take a bow to the director, script writer, producer and the entire cast and crew! :-D

In the same way I can't imagine Guy Pearce with his actual Aussie accent, I can't imagine Keira Knightley without her real accent. She does a good job here though.

I'm from America myself and her accent was pretty terrible. ngl. She made the mistake of holding her breath in her throat while still attempting to have that 'breathy sexy' sound to it. Didn't work.

She reminds me of Helena Bonham Carter in Fight Club. Very sexy, in a very different way, both lovely English roses.

John Maybury must have had a serious oral fixation because that entire movie was Keira with her fingers at her mouth, licking glass rims, or sucking on cigarettes/beer bottles.

Its convincing enough, not the best! Its not as natural as when Gary Oldman or Tracey Ullman when they do an American accent, although in all fairness they've lived in the States for quite a bit. But Knightley's American accent is definitely a lot more Convincing and realistic to Colin Firth's interpretation in Main Street or than Orlando Bloom's in Elizabethtown. Not that I think Colin Firth or Orlando Bloom are bad actors, on the contrary! and Colin Firth is one of my favorite actors, A legend! but just not that good for doing in American accent.

Listen closely, and you can hear her natural accent slip when she says "Barbeck". 0:49 I think her American accent was cute. Sure it wasn't perfect but it was a great effort nonetheless

I think it's a bit harsh to persuade an actor to really 100% do a perfect American accent....that's extremely difficult. They should just really do their best which is what keira did and I'm LOVIN the results

It's probably just the poor quality but she looks a little like Sophie Turner in this. Very hot either way. But oh wait, because some governments say it's illegal it must be wrong, even though others say it's fine; the girl is still the same age in both countries!

This film is horrible, that psychotic stare from Liz at the end, I always like justice even in horror movies and without it I still have bad feelings about this film.

am i the only one who thinks that keira knightley is a bad actress. in this snippet her american accent is ok, but i saw the rest of the film and her american accent isn't that good; she sounds like a man and it doesn't sound natural.

The American accent is the slower version of a British accent or any other accent.

Probably because the British are better trained in doing American accents then the other way around. There are a lot of roles for American characters, so I can see why. Either that or because the American accent is lower than British, which is easier to imitate.

what she meant by "if you want to exist" is, if you want to get noticed by boys or be popular you have to be pretty and thin. and too be honest. it's true, it's stupid but it's true.

You should hear James McAvoy's american accent. I didn't know he was Scottish when I watched Wanted. Brilliant actor.

Anyone can exist by what they do within themselves not what they look like! I've never believed in that because I think that I'm a woman who knows that she will be loved by whatever elements stand out from my personality and not because of supermodel like looks that girls feel pressured into in a conscientious way because of men themselves....well most of them anyway

The major difference between American and British accents are that Americans love to emphasize the R's while Brits love to emphasize the T's. She does a pretty good job, but you can tell she struggled while pronouncing "doctor" where the T and R are both pronounced differently in both accents.

Christian Bale has been doing an American Accent for way, way, way longer. This is the first I've ever heard Keira do it in a movie.
