    Thank you. We bought a used, large wooden bed frame, king size purple mattress, and 2 twin box springs. We didn't realize until we collected the bed and started taking it apart, the rigged system. It was not professional. We set it up at home anyway, figuring it might be okay, but it broke right away. The mattress sat on the 2 twin box springs, which sat on 3 spaced out boards. Each board was screwed into the wooden rail on the sides. So, rather quickly, the boards popped out and tipped to a 45 degree angle. Some screws were still intact holding the board in place, just cranked and cracked sideways. We re-positioned and re-inforced the boards, only for it to happen again, but now one of the metal brackets on the wooden side rail ripped right off, and is still stuck inside of the headboard. I don't know where to begin to fix this. Purple mattresses actually have a special platform to support the weight, but they are a couple thousand dollars which we can't spare right now.

    • @deerparkhomeshop2471
      @deerparkhomeshop2471 8 днів тому

      I'm having trouble visualizing exactly how it happened and I'm not familiar with purple mattresses. The metal bracket that ripped off; I guess that is the bracket that secures the rail to the bed post? If it's the kind that fits in a slot in the headboard, you can take a hammer and tap it up and out from below the bracket, then you can repair the rail and reattach it. Three cross supports is not enough, you should have at least twice that many. The middle rail/support should also have a leg positioned under it mid way between footboard and headboard. If you don't have one, it will sag in the middle and cause extra stress on the side rails. Hope this helps. Let me know how it turns out.

    You should also wear a RESPIRATOR with vapor filter for the OSPHO (or phosphoric acid-containing products). And an N95 mask for the rust removal. I used a sandblasting attachment ($30 on Amazon) for my pressure washer to clean off my wrought iron furniture and steel mesh yard cart/wagon. It's messy, but cleans rust and paint off steel QUICK.

    I'm putting some molding around a triangle which has one 90 degree angle and two 45 degree angles. I thought for sure that if I cut the two pieces at 22.5 degrees that I'd get my 45 degrees..... nope.... I got a way wider angle than a 90 degree. With your formula it looks like I have to cut two pieces at 67.5 degrees, but my miter saw doesn't cut that sharp an angle. Help !

    • @deerparkhomeshop2471
      @deerparkhomeshop2471 8 днів тому

      This angle is tough to plot with your angle finder. You're trying to put molding around a right triangle. Even if you could cut the 67.5 degrees, it may still not come out right. To me, the easiest way to do this is to use the stick method shown at the 1min 50 sec mark in the video. When you have successfully done that, you would need to make a jig that would secure your molding at the correct position, and with the jig, you'll be making something like a 17 or 18 degree cut. I'd make several test cuts on scrap until you get it perfect. Thanks for youyr comment, I may have to make a video on this.

      @@deerparkhomeshop2471 I was able to get that 45 degree sharp angle. I took a 1X10 short board and cut one end at 45 degrees. I now used this board as my "straight edge" instead of the one on the saw bed. I clamped the board onto the saw bed with the 45 degree end facing the cutting slot. I then moved the saw towards the board and stopped at the 22.5 degree notch. I held the piece of molding against the board, making sure the molding would be fully cut by the saw. To cut the matching piece, I had to flip the board to the other side of the saw bed. Then I put them together and it measures a sharp 45 degree angle. (half of the 90 degree) I tried to put a photo up here but could only put it on my Facebook story.

    • @deerparkhomeshop2471
      @deerparkhomeshop2471 16 днів тому

      I always run my gas completely out if I know I won't be using the machine for a while. When you're almost out of gas you can put a tablespoon of a fuel stablizer like Stabil "Storage" in the tank and when it runs out of gas, you'll protect the gas that remains in the carb.

Then I see also pressure washer pump protector.. are both needed? also listened to small motor repair ppl who said never run unit without the handle engaged it will ruin the pump. • @deerparkhomeshop2471
      @deerparkhomeshop2471 15 днів тому

      @@siestakeygirl1000 First, the pump protector is used to keep the residual water left in the pump from freezing and damaging the pump, so if it doesn't freeze where you live you don't need it. Second, my pressure washer manual also says not to let the unit idle, however I don't understand why this is the case. Of course, this means prolonged idling. When you pressure wash, you don't hold the handle down the whole time. Third, how old is your gas? If it's been sitting for a year or so I wouldn't use it. Gas will change colors if it is too old, so compare a sample to some fresh stuff. We have short winters here, so I have used gas in spring that is several months old.

    • @deerparkhomeshop2471

      If the outside measures 1/2" OD, the ID will probably be between 3/8' and 1/4" depending on the wall thickness of the hose. Usually when you buy a hose rated at 1/2", that will be the actual ID. New hoses are more flexible and a 1/2" OD hose will probably stretch enough to accept a 3/8" barb. Mine were old and brittle, and the 1/4" plex tube worked much better. Thanks for your comment.

    I saw that formula on another video and they recommended using cotton balls and put them around. I did that and slowly, but surely there are less ants going on those cotton balls. I did put the cotton balls on small pieces of wax paper. I like what you did is use a bottle cap or maybe some other very small container. Thanks for the formula and the idea. It does work!

    Good tips. I ended up using 5-min epoxy to glue the bracket to my Shepard's pole. Do you have any experience with the "torpedo" style baffles? I'm not sure why you'd use one over the other. But those seem quite popular as well.

    • @deerparkhomeshop2471

      I have to apologize. I responded over a week ago, but I must not have clicked the send button. To answer your question, I don't see a problem with the torpedo baffles, as long as the bottom rim is 60" from the ground. That's how high a squirrel can jump and they are very good at figuring things out. A running start and a jump is all it takes for baffles positioned to close to the ground. I'm not sure how effective they are if you position them over the top of your feeder though, like when the feeder hangs from a tree or overhead support. Good thinking on the epoxy!

      I did about 60 feet of fence, and it took a little over two weeks, but remember, I was filming a video at as I painted, so set up, takes, retakes, and etc. caused it to take a lot longer than it normally would. Thanks for watching!
