Like all the great Bluesmen he turned me on to many years ago, Paul Black's music emerges from deen within the soul & engages his mastery of conversation between impassioned voice & premier slide guitar in performances of raw power & inspiration . SONNY LANDRETH

I met Paul when he and Mark joined Linn County Band in the mid '70s. Later many times in Madison, here and there. Great bluesman in every regard.
Straight up laid it out every time he played... was privileged to see him play many times and call him a friend!
Yeah that's rock'n'roll (y)
Just perfect <3
I love his wonderfull slide-style
Oh, abso-f*cking-lutely I like this. I heard this song back in 1998 or so, and it was the first time I wanted to try and learn how to get that boogie harmonica sound or try my hand at slide. Love it.
magnifique ♥
Paul has gotten me through many many many days of work... listen to him as often as any musician... No slide quite like his... hope he is well.
Niceeeeeeeeeeee
Does anyone know Paul used to play softball in madison 4 nights a week? He has a vocal credit on Bobby Rush's new album circa 2011, so he's still around. Good to know. I have always loved this guy, a big part of my growing up years in madison.
Hi! What is happening to him today, in 2020?
@@marrakeshbluesband5611 From a regular at the Harmony Bar, I heard about 5 years ago that he went into a decline after his wife's death... ended up in long term nursing care somewhere in northern WI. No longer himself.
@@Dante80904 No, no... As of yesterday (3/21/21) he was very much alive in Madison. Yes, not playing anymore and not what he was, but there's a marvelous part of him still as cantankerous and fantastically humorous and witty as ever.
Still alive but in poor health.@@AllenMRuff
Untrue, sorry.@@Dante80904
Paul is from my home town,..Beaver Dam,Wisconsin..,He's been super talented his whole life...,And I've always been proud to be his friend.
