Wagon train and S Lake Tahoe 6 6 2024
First we saw the wagon train and horses at the Fresh Pond Supercharger which is by far the most beautiful Supercharge site that I ever visited. The horses and wagons were right there taking a rest day. They were going east. toward S Lake Tahoe.
After charging there we went to S Lake Tahoe. On the way back the longer video is of the very rugged climb back up to Echo Summit at 7382 feet elevation.

Trip to S Lake Tahoe 5 13 2024 Using Tesla FSD 12-3-6.

Starts off with clips of the descent on US 50 to Lake Tahoe and then shows some clips along South Lake Tahoe Boulevard when we got to the big casinos including Harrahs. Then some really nice clips of the trip along Emerald Bay on the right. Just a beautiful place to which to take a trip. Energy Consumption: Total trip was 180 miles and we had 95 miles of battery remaining when we arrived home f...
Exquisite Day in the Sierra Nevada 5/10/24 in the Tesla Model 3 RWD with FSD 12.3.6 (Supervised)

Mostly a drive from South Lake Tahoe to the top of Echo Summit Pass on the US 50. Note the solid granite monoliths. Then two short clips of a drive on Johnson Pass Road, the old US50. When the scenery is so beautiful being able to just supervise the drive is wonderful.

I just bought a new Model 3 and transferred the full self driving (FSD) from my 2019 Model 3 to the 2023 Model 3. That left the 2019 Model 3 with traffic aware cruise control and autosteer so we decided to make the comparison with FSD This is just an easy route to compare the present version of (FSD) with Basic Autopilot alone. Basic autopilot includes traffic aware cruise control and lane cent...

This documents the beautiful drive from Folsom to South Lake Tahoe and back over Echo Summit. Our main interest was to see the electrical efficiency with the new Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery cells. This Model 3 weighs about 300 pounds more than our 2019 Model 3 mostly because the LFP cell's nominal voltage is 3.2 Vs 3.7 for the older Lithium Nickel Cobalt Manganese (NCM) battery cells. ...

Just some very short clips to show FSD results. At 0:00 FSD has positioned us to the left lane when the route planner shows a right turn. As a result of this a truck was sneaking up into the right lane 00:07. So I felt the need to avoid having the truck on my right while I was making a right turn and I gunned it almost causing a rear end collision by traffic from my left. This happens way too o...

Just keeping abreast of version 11.4.4. FSD is still having problems with reduced detail road maps 00:31. These result in bad turn lane choices. I expect to fix that next week with a new cell connectivity card from Tesla.... 01:17 Two bikes and one guy? Does he own both of them??? 02:12 Really nice grille anyway! 02:32 4th exit at beautifully marked 2 lane roundabout. Perfect!!!

The interesting thing is how FSD handles the curves and on-coming traffic. It computes the radius of the curve from camera data and slows down accordingly as you can see from the speed in the upper left corner of the car screen. It's possible that Tesla Basic autopilot would do the same.

Wagon Train and Johnson Pass Road June 7 2023

On this drive up to Johnson Pass Road, we were treated to an encounter with a wagon train commemorating the .movement westward in the 1800s. We show videos passing the train going east (00:00) and west (05:45). Other than that, the sky was gorgeous and the snow on Johnson Pass Road was still deep even as late as June 7. As an ending bonus we show (08:00) Bridal Veil Falls at its best.

    Brilliant! Saved me a ton of time. After an autoscan, I had 91 channels (San Antonio must watch a lot of TV) of which I wanted only 7. Your instructions let me quickly designate the ones I didn't want and then remove them. (Manual selection of channels I wanted didn't work, for reasons I fail to understand. Had to autoscan all the channels and then drop the unwatched ones.) Am now able to view all five major networks plus two sub-channels on PBS. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge.

      We didn't go into Sequoia park. We charged at Traver on the CA99. Address: 36005 CA-99, Traver, CA 93673. Actually charging at Traver, then going through the park and charging again at Fresno would have worked.

    At 10:50, the white Land Rover did not run thru a stop sign. They signaled the right turn and did nothing improper or unexpected. An error on the part of the commenter, not Tesla FSD. At 6:50, FSD fails, generating no path prediction in the Home Depot parking lot and repeatedly showing phantom semi-trailers. It acts as if both the image processing and path logic algorithms are flaking. Might the CPU have reached a limit there?

    • @johnrahn2677
      @johnrahn2677 2 роки тому

      Thanks I appreciate your interest. Sorry about the improper comment. Home Depot drive presents a lot of pedestrian avoidance opportunities at which FSD is getting much better. A problem there was that navigation did not have a distinct new destination so it wavered more than usual. I'll try to do better. I have no way of estimating how close the CPU was to being maxed out.

    I have a helpful tip for you.. the driver monitoring camera doesn't like you recording too close to the driver. basically, the system sees you recording and thinks you're the driver looking down at your phone. if you're going to record, you need to stay on your side of the car!

    • @johnrahn2677
      @johnrahn2677 2 роки тому

      Thanks, I guess you mean that the action camera is interpreted by the cabin monitor camera as the driver. I can move the action camera to the right and it will still have a good view of the car screen and the road. Also I can stay to the left side of the car at all times.

    I can tell that you are new to FDD because you are changing the speed a lot you really don't really need to it's pretty good at speed control the only time it has a problem is with tight roads and even that is getting good

    • @johnrahn2677
      @johnrahn2677 2 роки тому

      It IS getting better. I change the speed because it scares me when it approaches an intersection turn at the full local speed limit. Just the way I drive. I never use the brakes,

    • @mthuhn
      @mthuhn 2 роки тому

      @@johnrahn2677 well when you get use to it it's pretty good at stoping at intersection and they changed it to use Regen braking instead of friction brakes and works pretty well now

    • @johnrahn2677
      @johnrahn2677 2 роки тому

      @@mthuhn Yep, my Tesla has never failed to stop at. intersections. But the big beta breakthrough was to make TURNS at city intersections and that is what I try to show with my videos. It needs a lot of improvement there. Mobileye on millions of cars and Tesla basic autopilot does lane keeping acceptably so Tesla FSD beta needs to be far above that.

    Love the FSD Beta Videos! Please keep 'em coming! One tip I'd like to suggest is to use the feedback (camera) button less often. It's only for errors the car makes, that didn't involve a disengagement. The disengagement of FSD will automatically alert the software engineers. Thanks for sharing your drives!
