I remember having to spend a boatload of money to purchase the box set. And now... We get to watch HVK perform the entire set for peanuts. Always appreciate, never take for granted. A true blessing.

Beethoven was obviously in a bad mood when he wrote the stormy 4th movement of this symphony. The energy, which is already present in this movement, is simply incredible and captivating. And then brilliantly conducted by Master Karajan. Ingenious!

@@Bowie525 No, i mean the 4th movement of the 7th symphony. Beethoven's emotional states and personal struggles are well documented, and it is known that he grappled with mood swings and emotional challenges at various points in his life. Therefore, it is quite possible that he was in a bad mood, but he may also have been experiencing exceptional euphoria when he composed the fourth movement. Due to the powerful, rather stormy, almost angry character of this movement, I have always suspected that he was in a bad mood that time. ;) Even Friedrich Wieck (the father of Clara Schumann) once remarked that "this symphony could only have been composed in an unfortunate - intoxicated state, namely the first and last movements."

@@Pumbaa_2009I think like that as well, compared the other movements, we can feel de stormy psychology of the 4th, but as you mentioned it made the symphony more emotional and intense in a way and it's incredible "Sacris Solemnis" song has written on this movement and sang by boy choir, I really recommend that version as well

I think its because karajan is generally super photogenic compared to the orchestra around him. Also its nice to focus on the insterments making the beautiful sounds instead of associating a face with said instrument. Its also a primitive music video so its more meant for cinematic feel. But im glad you enjoyed it!

I think that’s what makes it even better, he has his eyes closed to see the music happen in his head, then he expresses the music through his movement.
