Building a New Aquarium Shelf!
Since I made a decent amount of money selling aquarium plants, I decided to upgrade my aquarium shelf (and buy another tank)! I bought a Muscle Rack from Home Depot and a 20 Gallon Long from Petco and this video shows the building process. I hope you enjoy!

My first UA-cam video, take two! I have had a problem with talking into a camera for literally my entire life, and so a long time ago I decided to make UA-cam videos to try and combat this eternal struggle. But I have been a massive chicken so, making videos has been a shelved idea. Until now! This year, my New Year's resolution is to be less of a chicken (in general), and so because making a U...

What, you tried returning a used rack that has no issues?! 😂 C'mon. That later rack's boards would do better covered or it'll warp from water damage.

It's doing well! It's been moved a couple of times but the rack is still holding tanks.

The stand is doing well! The original wood has been replaced though, the particle board doesn't hold up well to water. I just went to home depot and got some plywood cut to size.

What good strong wood would work for replacing the cheap ones included I’m thinking of buying this exact shelf

So I bought my shelf from Home Depot. I grabbed the particle board from one of the display shelves, a thick piece of plywood (I think mine is half an inch thick), and brought both pieces to one of the employees. I was literally like, can you cut this piece of wood to match this piece of wood? I explained the whole situation and they made sure the wood was an appropriate thickness and the correct size. The new board itself is holding up really well too, it is definitely significantly stronger than the original piece.

Hey James how is the rack holding up after the 7 months?

The rack has held up pretty well. One of the original particle boards got really wet and is now bowing (I plan to replace it with a wooden board). I also plan to cover all of the wood pieces with a sheet of plastic once I can.

Might want to put some plastic down, you dont want those boards getting wet. They are not strong to begin with. You may also want to go to home depot or lowes and have them cut some stronger boards for you

Thanks for the suggestion! I actually did get thicker boards cut at Home Depot Do you have any suggestions for plastic sheets?

@@jamesbchin polyurethane or something similar would probably be your best bet. Plastic creates an opportunity for moisture to get trapped under it and held there long term.

@@jamesbchin they make a water based polyurethane. That is probably the safest route to go.
