A Complete Homebrew QRP, CW HF Station
Переглядів 1,2 тис.Місяць тому
This video shows my homebrew QRP CW HF amateur station. The transceiver is the EGV-9B nine-band from qrphamradiokits.com in Spain, designed by Javier EA3GCY. The touch twin paddles are from a circuit by John, M0UKD. The SWR meter completes the station. I cannot recall where I took the design from, unfortunately, but I include the schematic. Comments and feedback are welcome to ei5emtony@gmail.co...
Building the ATU-100 Automatic HF ATU
Переглядів 4206 місяців тому
The short video describes my build of the ATU-100 automatic antenna tuning unit which was designed by David Fainitski, N7DDC.I bought the kit but I didn't buy the enclosure, preferring to use my own plastic box, which I screened with copper-clad board. I have photographs of the various construction stages. This is followed by video demonstrations of the ATU in action.

Building QRP Labs 50W Amplifier
Переглядів 730Рік тому
This short video describes the building and operation of QRP Labs 50W amplifier for the QCX line of qrp transceivers. The amplifier requires 20V to deliver the full 50W. I built my amplifier for the 40m band and with a 13.8V PSU, it delivered over 30W. I substituted the supplied IRF510 final transistors with two similar IRF510s
An RF-activated Relay Project for the QRP Labs 50W amplifier
Переглядів 770Рік тому
I built a 20m QCX mini QRP transceiver from QRP Labs, along with its matching 50W amplifier. The amplifier, in addition to the RF drive from the transmitter, requires a 5V control signal on transmit. This would normally require a switched 5V signal from the QCX. This would entail soldering a wire to a pin on a chip inside the QCX and extending that wire to the amplifier. I didn't want to go tha...
RF activated relay
Переглядів 218Рік тому
This is an RF activated relay, that I built to interface my QRP Labs QCX Mini 20m QRP trasceiver with the QRP Labs 50W amplifier. The amplifier requires 5V control voltage on transmit from the QCX. As this would involve drilling a hole in the beautiful QCX's case, I built this unit as an alternative. The sense wire of the unit will "sniff" the RF at the input BNC socket of the amplifier. This w...
Refurbishing and Upgrading my Ten-Tec T-Kit 1320
Переглядів 7522 роки тому
I rediscovered my T-Kit 1320 QRP, CW 20m transceiver recently languishing in a junk box. It needed some TLC to restore it. However, I then decided to upgrade it by adding a CW audio filter, an iambic memory keyer, a Freq-Mite frequency counter, which enunciates the frequency in Morse Code and touch-sensitive twin paddles. This video recounts my journey. ... de Tony, EI5EM
RF Activated CW Sidetone Oscillator

One of the members of my local radio club, Ana (EI5IXB), has a Yaesu FT767GX transceiver, but the internal CW sidetone oscillator is not working. This project is a workaround solution, rather than going poking around inside. The circuit is not my own, but rather the creation of Peter Parker VK3YE to whom the credit must go. However, this particular construction is my own, and the video covers m...

I did just a few simple mods to my 1320: 1: big diode as reverse polarity protection and in-line fuse 2: diode in series with the key socket so nothing will come to harm if you accidentally plug the power lead into it (since both power and key use identical phono / RCA connectors) 3: soldered the cans of the crystals in the filter together and to earth. This considerably reduces of breakthrough from strong 49m broadcast stations into the 6144kHz i.f. This isn't quite such a problem today, but it certainly was when I built mine. I wrote a review of this kit that was published in the August 2000 issue of RadCom. It's a great little radio. ☺ 73 Mark GØOIW
