I was going to buy a beater bmx to save on my nice one. I ended up buying an even better one instead!😂
Love gravel bikes, mine has room for very large tires , total game changer! I use it for everything , including long road rides. Don’t miss those 25mm tires on my road bike at all.
@@chuckrodgers4780 it’s easily become the bike I ride the most, literally can do almost everything reasonably well!
Nice assessment. Just got done riding RAGBRAI last week on my Cannondale Topstone gravel bike two years in a row. Hit all the gravel routes and then some. Had a blast.
@@IowaNinersFan I test road a cannondale top stone, beautiful bike!
three in wide tire on a gravel bike is the sweet spot
@@philiprayner will def look into trying that out
@@BennyMcFly I suggested 3 in tire because a video of a gravel biker hear in Canada was on one of our multi use trails in Ontario said that the tires on his bike did not handle some of the rough ground from the ATV tracks and he said 3in wide tires would work better
Completely agree. You can speed them up with slicks, or go exploring on fat nobbies. And no matter how much money you put into an old hardtail, it will never be as comfortable, capable, or efficient as a dirt cheap gravel bike. It really is an amazing category.
@@stephenkohler3472 it’s definitely my favorite to just enjoy riding for sure
My old hardtail MTB with 700c32 "urban commuter" type of tires does just that. I'm not going to rush buying a new bike just because industry came up with another flashy name.
@@Grasss to each his own! Mountain bikes are a blast too.
@@BennyMcFly with 700c32 tires it's no longer an MTB now, isn't it? I'm with you on a message of "get a bike". I'm not with you on the message "industry came up with another flashy name for the exact same thing, you have to get it"
@@Grasss sure!
Ummm…. I have a Camber that has 2.1” tyres and I take it on the same gravel ride as the Grevil that has 47mm tyres. The Grevil is so much faster and is designed specifically for that type of riding - it is not a compromise. The Camber is a great trail bike, but it ain’t no gravel bike.
@@GrasssIt still has mountain bike gearing, though, doesn't it?
Id much rather have the road bike than the others
Gloves help with calluses and blisters on your hands. I use to get them growing up
I bought kink williams, tomorrow I'll get it. Brake or bo brakes? Hah
How are the bunny hops coming along?
@@lokusfrog I need to post an update video! They’re better but still not the highest lol
@@BennyMcFly dude this video is cool with all the different angles. I am trying to learn how to bunny hop but don’t have the form right just yet.
Im lookin for this bike comes with good specs for a 43 year old 6.'2 220 poundish guy but the only bike i can get where i live is the cult devotion donno if thats a good bike Cause i dont want to spend money on a sunday soundwavd special as the first bike i ride since my old mongoose i had back in 87
Who’s rapping?¿ noice
Same
Gotten a few deals like this in the past, myself. Best was a bike for a dollar. 2nd hand store bike from their dumpster.
great video! i would just recommend a mic cover for the wind, one of the fuzzy ones
you made a life time commitment to road bikes buying specialised haha ever since I started buying vintage retro-racting bikes off ebay I've been into road bikes and thinking of getting newer models- my dream is a carbon-specialised frame to start but I want it to be special so I'm thinking of building it myself instead of buying one from a dealer
Give it a few months, ur gonna wear spandex...
Never!!!
Yh I just took it up to got a road bike like yours and I love it and am going all the way with it 😎💯💯keep doing your videos keep up the good work 💯💯😎😎👌👌
That is a good starter bike. It seems not to really need anything. I am a BMX guy but I've been wanting to get a 26in bmx seems to be the size I like. 29 is too big honestly. I had a 26in DJ but that style of bike just isn't me, but the size felt ok. Can't wait to see you put some miles on that thing! Gonna HURT bro!
I have a 26 in redline cruiser that is smoooooth, such a fun bike to ride when I just want to relax
Score!
What do you do for a living ?
Make terrible UA-cam videos
@@BennyMcFly haha...the fact that you are not revealing true job, makes me assumes that you are a drug lord. Hope that I'm wrong.
@@BennyMcFly how do you find money for new bikes daily?
@@harisankar1317I’m constantly selling, etc. Definitely no drugs involved 😂😂
def have my support !!! old head beginner Bmx'ers UNITE!!!! lol keep Grinding Bro
What camera are you using? Do you color grade your videos ?
Sony a7iv, I shoot in 10 bit and color grade 🤠
What camera are you using
Sony a7IV
I took my old beat up BMX and mounted it to a wooden pallet so now it's a manual/barspin trainer :)
when your doing a foot jam by the looks of it your hesitant to lean forward and commit, try jamming your foot a little harder and lean forward slightly more then when your coming out of it. if you want a fakie drop your butt like a manual and lean back and you are guaranteed to roll. Also go a little faster 👍👍👍👍
Thanks bro! Yep, def some hesitation haha gotta get over it
49 year old here, just bought a Kink Whip myself. Bought a Jamis hybrid at first, figured it was a good start...big mistake it just fueled the feelings and memories of my old Dyno, GT and Robinson as a kid and my early 20s. Nothing in my adult life could evoke those feelings, funnily enough not even my Harley Dyna low, could. Sure I get sense of freedom on it....but its not quite the same. (Maybe it's a midlife crisis thing 😂idk) But damn i missed that feeling. My kids think I'm crazy, but my grandkids think I'm cool af, because now I can cruise the neighborhood with them.
After riding it for a while and getting used to the size difference from a 20"er were you finally able to do a decent bunny hop, 180 kick out, wheelie, controlled endo or any other ground type tricks, or is it just too big, and meant to look old school but is really more of a cool cruiser? Just want to know because I'm considering one for myself and I'm looking for a first hand review from a real person.
I'm buying this bike tomorrow. I just turned 50, and I'm getting back into riding after 30 odd years. I'm 5'11, 215 pounds. I'm excited to have this become part of my life again. Great video btw. This bike costs $750 in El Salvador, where I live. I'm looking to slowly but surely custom out my bike. Enjoy your bike.
You’ll love it, great bike!
Really like your videos! I've been riding 35 years and I still remember learning footjams (we didn't even call them that back then). Fakies are tough, but really cool when you get them down. 180s are still one of my favorite tricks just because it feels really cool to roll backwards and turn around and ride away. Keep it up! You'll get there.
I’m attempting 180s this weekend! Safe riding bro!
Nice work, good bunny hop and keep practicing footjam and you are going to learn it.
I went with the same bike old guy getting back into it lol. what hub guards did you go with? I'm keeping this one as a cassette and now just ordered the Fiend type A+ bit better geometry little bit better quality and a freecoaster got it shipped to my door for under 585. You will want to replace the cranks on the whip xl they are crap just 8 spline can get the Rant 48 spline full chromo cranks for like 100 well worth it for the upgrade stronger and lighter and flat bottoms to not interfere w/grinds and such. I have also changed out to demolition momentum tires they are way lighter save like 2lbs and grip like no other on street or park. Say they are a 2.35 but are actually 2.41 best tires out imo and not expensive at all.
Nice work Benny!! Try leaning a bit into a wall or a curb to learn fakies, it'll give you more momentum backwards so you can learn the balance and the turnout.
Keep at it! I did my first feet high bunnyhop a few days ago and started on fakies yesterday (footjam fakie) and have sort of landed one if I'm generous with myself xD. <3 <3 <3
Footjams are fun but I gotta improve the fakie! Safe riding my friend.

Okay wait now that I'm seeing you ride in Galveston, I hope to catch you someday. Idk if you reside somewhere in the area, but if you ever see a guy with dreadlocks on a purple Sunday Scout with a bunch of Cinema and Odyssey aftermarket parts, it's probably me lol
Man you are awesome! I used to ride growing up and now just built a new bike at the age of 30. I love to see other adults shredding!
Thanks dude! Getting back into it after a looooong time, we used to ride everywhere as kids.
I love that bmx is reaching adults as a newer hobby. Fuck yeah.
Sweet ride man! I want to get back into BMX after like 30+ years or mountain biking. I’m short so thinking about the regular Whip or the Colony Premise for same price and specs.
I'm 5'10, could probably ride the regular whip too but I really like the 21in toptube of the XL.
The orange is sweet
can u get me link for purchase ?
Hey I’ve got the same bike. How are you getting it up with the long back end?
I feel like I could’ve gone a little shorter top tube if I wanted but it’s very comfortable
Hola soy Emerson oye no me quieres dar tu número para que hablemos por ahí
how tall are you?
5’10
Finally a video that speaks to me. We are the same height and older too. Just getting back to it after about 30 years.
Love it! I can’t believe I let so much time go by without riding.
Are you still riding it? I’m looking at a 2025 XL.
the kink whip is the best value bmx online without a doubt
can u get me link for purchase ?
Man what song is that lol
I bought a whip back in 2020 to get back on a 20 . now i have 3 customs . So fun
Nice bro! Keep at it! I'm in a similar situation after a 22 year break from BMX. I just recently found a lightly used Cloud complete for a deal I couldn't pass up. Love it! 👊🏽🤘🏽🤙🏽
Cloud is a great bike!!!
Hell yeah I daily my whip xl and it's almost done being built it's a w bike fr man
